The unwanted wife’s unexpected comeback -
Chapter 224
Chapter 224:
Caden, holding on tightly to Alicia, rolled down the slope.
His only attention was focused on her safety, neglecting his own.
His head hit a rock, knocking him unconscious.
Finally they stopped.
Alice opened her eyes and dimly saw the distant lights of a house.
Seeing a ray of hope, she clung to the man beside her, struggling to breathe as she cried out, “Caden… Caden…”
Caden still didn't respond.
Alicia tried to keep her composure.
She took a deep breath, checked his pulse, and assessed his wounds.
She saw that there was blood on the back of his neck.
She quickly removed some of her clothes to bandage the wound and try to stop the bleeding.
Her energy was rapidly diminishing.
The air was also freezing and pitch black.
Not knowing if she could hold out until Caden regained consciousness, she called out his name again.
Not knowing the extent of his injuries, she began to panic.
Fear gripped her heart and tears filled her eyes.
“Caden…” she cried weakly.
“Please… Please wake up.
” She examined his face carefully, making sure he could breathe.
She wiped the mud from his mouth and nose.
Then he touched her eyes.
Beneath her eyelids, her eyeballs moved slightly.
Though it was subtle and brief, it offered a glimmer of hope for her condition.
I knew I had to act quickly to save him.
In such serious condition, even a healthy person would not survive for long.
Suddenly, filled with adrenaline, she managed to get to her feet.
With great effort, she lifted Caden onto her back and began to move towards the light.
Exhausted, with Caden's weight too much, Alicia trembled as she tried to stand up.
She hadn't even taken a step when she tripped and fell hard to the ground.
She didn't have the strength to scream.
All she could do was open her mouth in a silent scream.
Determined, she pulled Caden along once more, moving forward step by step.
She lost count of how many times she fell, how cold it was, how much pain she felt.
Little by little, the cold seeped into her bones, numbing them.
Her eyelids were so heavy that she had trouble keeping them open.
With the last of her strength, she fell to her knees.
As she fell, she saw Caden’s face more clearly.
A surge of emotion overwhelmed her, and tears flowed freely down her cheeks.
“Caden… Please don’t die,” she whispered silently.
He fell into a troubled sleep.
In her dream, she felt dazed and in pain all over, confined to a small room.
Caden was there, sitting in front of her, unharmed.
“Are you awake?” he asked.
“This is hell.
”
Alice was stunned.
She looked at him in disbelief.
“Are we dead?”
“Yes,” Caden replied nonchalantly, his bearing more resembling that of a handsome but ruthless ruler of the underworld than a mere ghost.
Alice was not afraid of death.
After all, they were already dead.
There was no going back.
She just hadn't anticipated that hell would be so different from her expectations.
Her thoughts were completely chaotic and she continued to stare at Caden as if spellbound.
"When do we get reincarnated?" he asked.
Caden’s face remained impassive.
“If you choose to be reincarnated, you won’t remember anything.
Are you sure that’s what you want?”
Alice's gaze darkened.
"There's nothing in this life worth holding on to anyway.
Keeping my memories seems pointless to me.
.
.
"
"Really? Are you willing to forget me?"
Alice’s eyes flickered.
She experienced a brief moment of shyness.
But since they were supposed to be dead, she felt there was no need for shyness.
With new boldness, she met his gaze.
“No.
”
There was a subtle change in Caden's expression, though Alicia didn't catch it.
"What is there about me that you are not willing to forget?" he asked.
Alice was so exhausted that she could hardly collect her thoughts.
She simply said whatever came into her head: “Because you have been kind to me.
”
“So?” Caden insisted.
“And… I like you,” she whispered softly.
Caden hesitated for a moment before asking, “How much do you like me?”
“A lot.
You’re handsome, you’re fit, and you’re exceptionally skilled in bed,” Alicia admitted, unable to hold back her words.
“I love sleeping with you.
It makes me feel amazing.
I love being in your arms.
I love the way you fuck me, the way you look at me and kiss me.
”
At her frankness, Caden raised an eyebrow.
He reached out and touched her forehead, checking to see if she still had a fever.
It was clear she wouldn’t be speaking so freely unless something was wrong with her.
Alice grabbed his hand, feeling a little more alert.
She forced her eyes open to focus more clearly.
Noticing the bandage on his head, she asked in confusion, “Aren’t there healers in hell? Why are you still hurt?”
"I just died.
I'm not being treated; I'm not considered a priority.
"
"Does it hurt?"
"No.
"
Alice rested her cheek on her palm, closing her eyes.
“So why does it hurt so much? Am I being punished for my sins?”
Caden let out a soft laugh.
"Do you think you are a sinner?"
“No, but I’ve made a lot of mistakes,” Alicia said, her voice trailing off in a sob.
Caden gently wiped her tears away with his thumb.
Alice looked at him, her expression vulnerable.
“And you?” she asked huskily.
“Do you like me?”
“Yes,” Caden replied with a mischievous smile.
“Of course, I enjoy fucking you.
”
Alice was speechless.
