The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 10
Maidson POV
Matilda led me down the stairs towards the dining hall. I was dressed in a blue gown, and I felt awkward. I never wear this type of clothing. The few dresses I do own are not this beautiful and soft.
I took a deep breath as we entered the room and then regretted doing that.
As I took in my mate’s scent, the smell was so amazing that it almost made me fall down. It was so overwhelming, my wolf wanted out and go to him, she wanted her mate and now.
I started to walk towards my brother, but he mind-linked me.
‘Go sit with your mate, you have to give him some time, or your wolf will become uncontrollable, just like your mate lost his.’ He ends up chuckling at his dig at my mate.
I nod and change my direction, my mate is staring at me, it appears he saw my direction change. I rolled my eyes internally and continued to the seat beside him.
Then tingles I felt ran up my arm, as I accidentally brushed against Zane as I sat down.
I politely greeted the Alpha and then Zane tried hard not to look at him for too long. Controlling my wolf at the moment was very hard. She wanted me to jump his bones, put my scent all over him and mark him, so another woman could see he was taken and he was hers. I look at the food on the table, trying to distract myself from my wolf’s dialogue and the rude suggestions she was giving me. I did not even know some of her suggestions could be made in those positions, or even if they were things, one should even try. Then I gazed around the room, and smiled when I saw all my pack mates, digging in and eating. We were all glad to have a home-pack meal again, being on the road so long, you kinda yearn for a real bed and a decent meal. Well, I did at least. I am sure my brother did too, because of the complaints he made at one of the stops. One of dad’s BBQ’S about then sounded good, they all looked tired and most likely they would all have an early night.
I tried to make small talk at the table, though it was hard to concentrate with my wolf’s-stopped hounding me to do stuff with the man next to me, and to be honest, I don’t think, on the other hand, I could anatomically, do some of her suggestions, and those tingles didn’t help me much either. At last, the food was over. I was full to the brim, Graham came over and gave me a hug and then suggested I take my mate upstairs and let my hair down and replace out what the big deal was about and report back to him the good juicy gossip, so he can pass it on to dad. I nearly growled out at him, but luckily, I just hugged him back and said nothing.
Zane offered to take me out for a stroll around the gardens, and I politely accepted. We walked beside each other, looking around the grounds and the beautiful sights and the moon peaking above the mountains. After a while, I got a shiver. It was not from the cold, but from another one of Betsy’s suggestions, but when Zane put his coat on me, I was more than happy to pretend it was the cold.
When at last we returned to my door and said good night, it took all I had to keep from dragging him into my room and attempting to make some of the suggestions my wolf had been badgering me about all night. It was an eye opener for some suggestions and curiosity for others. She was a tart.
Zane said good night and I could tell he was unsure whether to k**s me or not and decided to walk away, which was a relief because I was unsure. I would have resisted if he had.
I closed my door and leaned back on it and then growled lowly.
A woman was in my room, spraying something on my bed.
‘Who are you and what are you doing in my room?’ I spat out, not kindly.
‘I am Karen and I was tidying up your room, and putting some lavender spray on the bed, thinking it might help you sleep.’ She curtsied and grabbed a basket full of cleaning stuff from the floor.
I stepped aside and let her out the door. I did not trust her or what she just sprayed on my bed.
‘Oh, by the way, before I go, stay away from Zane, he is mine, we have even spent time together in bed, so keep your paws off of him.’ She growled at me and waltzed out the door, before I could retort.
Letting out a breath I did not know I was holding; I walked over to the bed and sniffed the sheets. Yes, it smelt of lavender, but also of wolfsbane. I would not be having a good night’s sleep with that in my bed. Any other wolf might not have smelt wolfsbane, but my tracker nose is very sensitive and can break down smells easily.
