The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 14
Madison POV
My wolf woke me in the early hours of the morning, telling me it was time to get dressed and head to the meeting. If she had not woken me, I would most likely have been able to sleep all day. Going to bed so late really drained me.
I quickly showered hoping I would not wake Zane, climbed out of the shower, and stopped and stared at the tattoo on my neck. It was almost identical to the one on Zane’s neck. I have no idea how the marking works because we both have identical tattoos and they are not actual bit marks, my mouth is smaller than his, and my teeth are different, so how could we get the same tattoo, baffles me. Pushing the thoughts from my mind, I got dressed in skinny jeans and my shirt, threw on a jacket, grabbed my phone and raced out the door, leaving my mate sleeping blissfully in a nice warm bed, and all I really wanted to do was climb back in bed and, snuggle back up to him, then reminded myself I have rogues to replace, I took off out the door closing it quietly and headed down to the meeting room.
A call from the dining hall had stopped me and I back-tracked to the dining hall, popping my head in the room to replace the Alpha, Mitch and the Beta at the table eating breakfast.
‘Come join us, we were not sure if you would be here at this time or not.’ Alpha said before picking up his coffee and taking a slip, eyeing me over his cup as he drank.
‘Food, great I am starving.’ I pull out a chair and grab, sausage and bacon and tomatoes and some toast and a coffee.’ Taking a bite of the bacon and groaning in pleasure as the greasy spirt of bacon juice fills my mouth, I crunch down on the bacon with gusto and look at my plate as I try to finish the mouthful and grab another slice of bacon.
I looked around at the group and stopped mid chew. I tried to swallow a piece of bacon I just put in my mouth, the lump that should really have had a few more chews, and asked.
‘What?’ and pushed some more bacon into my mouth.
‘Did you mate?’ Alpha asked as he and the others looked hard at me.
I popped open my shirt a little bit and showed him my tattoo with pride.
‘Good.’ The Beta said and dug back into his meal.
‘Did you mate?’ the Alpha asked again, more force in his voice this time. To most it would have felt like an Alpha command, but those have never really worked on me. Even my own Alpha could not command me, but I usually complied and pretended it did.
‘No, I was too tired, come on, I needed to be here early, I was not ready to do the dirty yet.’ I complained before stuffing a tomato in my mouth, the need to fill my stomach seemed more important and this conversation was not going to dampen my need for food.
‘Sad, but okay, I understand, at least you are both marked. Well, I presume you marked him too?’ Alpha pushed again, which had the Beta look at me too.
I nod my head and keep eating. This is a really good sausage and bacon.
I swallowed my mouthful and asked ‘When will we start the tracking, I am eager to get out there and replace these buggers.’ as I looked wantonly at the table, where the plate that was sausages and bacon now sat empty, and wondered if it would be rude to ask the cook to send out more.
‘Now, let’s go.’ Mitch said, picking up his half-drunk coffee cup and walked towards the meeting room, not even giving me time to reply or even nod my head.
I grabbed my cup and followed him in. Eagerly, the room had a large table in the centre, a diorama of the area around the palace and a beyond the borders sat proudly on it, little marks of reds and greens and blues over different sections, a large screen that displayed the same diorama on one of the walls, there were chairs around another table, pens and note pads and computers in front of each chair.
Mitch
was at the diorama and was looking down and studying it closely.
I closed the door and walked over to Mitch.
I sniffed around the room. This made Mitch look up at me. I glanced over at him, I put my finger to my mouth, signalling to be quiet for a moment, he nodded.
Grabbing
my phone, I opened an app I had created and started walking around the room.
Under the table, I found a bug. Placing it in a metal biscuit tin, I continued
to walk around the room. Above the door was another one, and another one on the
back of the main computer and one behind the big screen, having placed them all
in the tin. I turned to Mitch and asked.
I sniffed around the room again. This made Mitch look at me. With a weird frown,
