The Wannabe Warrior -
Chapter 19
Zane POV
Waiting for news from my mate was nerve-racking. My dad told me to go to the gym and work off my excess energy. I spent over two hours there.
At first, I started by hitting the bag, left, right, right, right, left, I got a rhythm going and I blocked everyone out and just kept hitting this dam bag, thinking of rogues and the bag became the rogue, left, right, left, left, left, right, I changed patterns every now and then, sweat pouring off of me.
Then some of the warriors came in all cocky and full of themselves, saw me hitting the bag, and after a while, one came over and broke my pace. This one guy grabbed the bag and held onto it, so I hit the bag harder and harder, till, in the end, the guy could hold the bag no longer.
‘Hey man, why don’t you go and have a few rounds with Red over there? I am sure he would like a real challenge for a change.’
So, I entered the ring and started hitting this guy. He ended up on the floor so many times, he was getting wobbly on his feet, so they changed who was next, then another guy and then another. I think by the time I left the gym all hot and sweaty, they regretted asking me to join them in a spar or two. I think I broke one guy’s nose and cracked a few ribs of another one. Did I feel bad? Nope, they could see I was in need of venting my frustration out, and they chose to be the punching bag, their bad, not mine.
I went to my room and showered and in the shower, I thought of my mate, as I seem to do each time I am in the bathroom and found myself having to relieve my e******n. Again, my mate has me all in knots, I need her so much, my body hungers for her and my wolf is pacing back and forth in my head, screaming for me to get out of here and go replace her. He does not understand that we can’t just show up while she is out there tracking. It is her job. I think I would be a bad distraction and could put her in danger if she had to suddenly worry about me getting hurt. Then I could get hurt because I am worried about her.
Heading downstairs, I bumped into Karen. How the hell is she still around here? It was beyond me. She threatened my mate. Why is she even allowed in the packhouse?
Heading downstairs, I bumped into Karen. How the hell is she still around here? It was beyond me. She threatened my mate. Why is she even allowed in the packhouse?
‘Hello, Sweetheart, want to have some fun?’ Karen asks in a voice she must think is seductive, but it just makes my stomach roll.
‘What are you doing in the packhouse? Why are you not at the barracks, getting it sorted for our new warrior arrivals.’ I growled as I tried to pass her by.
She shoots out her hand to stop me before I can get fully passed.
‘Don’t be like that, you look all worked up, please, let me release some of that tension.’ She tries again, running her hand over my chest.
I was ready to grab her by the throat, and throttle her, when I was saved from doing anything I could later regret.
‘Karen? What are you DOING in here?’ my dad spit at the woman and what she was doing.
Karen falls to her knees in submission, trembling at the Alpha power radiating off my dad.
‘GET. OUT. OF. HER.E NOW. AND. NEVER. EVER. ENTER. THIS. BUILDING. AGAIN.’ The order my father just gave, made it impossible for Karen to ever enter this building again. Boy, I wish dad had done that in the beginning.
Karen got to her feet and ran down the hallway and out the front door. I could smell the urine coming off her. Karen must have wet her pants, her fear was that strong.
‘Son, come to the meeting room, Madison has found some rogues.’ Dad said gently, placing his arm around my shoulder and guiding me to the room.
My mind went crazy, my wolf went berserk, and between us we almost had a meltdown.
‘Calm down. Son, Madison has everything under control, and she has forty men with her. Surely, they can handle a few rogues.’ Dad sooths, as best he can.
We entered the meeting room, and I looked down at the diorama, to see a new red mark on the table, so a new spot, and further out too, wonder what they were doing over there? I thought as I looked at the table and noticed a few more cleared places closer to the pack-house, and I was relieved that none had breached the inner circle.
‘Son?’ Dad called to break my thoughts.
I looked up at him and nodded, too afraid to speak. I was terrified my mate had met up with rogues and what had happened out there. Having a mate sucked big time, well at the moment anyway.
‘Madison has sedated six rogues and they are on the way back here. They will be back in about another fifteen minutes. You can wait in here until she returns, we will get Madison to give us a briefing on what she found and what transpired in catching the rogues.’ Dad says calmly, watching me closely.
I nodded and looked at Mitch.
“What can you tell me?’ I asked, knowing he would know more than dad was letting on.
Mitch looks over at dad, and I see him nod.
