The Wannabe Warrior
Chapter 70

Madison POV

We waited for the patrol to pass and then tried to move the item down the shaft, but they couldn’t move it from below and we didn’t seem to be able to pull it out, so I made a decision that annoyed Zane, but little he could do about it once I did it.

I lower myself down the shaft and settle on the top of the item and slowly it moves lower, as I manipulate it side to side, then all of a sudden it gives way and I tumble down the rest of the way.

‘Zane, I am at the bottom, go back, I will coordinate our attacks from here, I have the mic and I can mind-link. It is a great solution. I am safe for now, please go back.’ I said to him in my mind-link.’

‘I don’t want to leave you here.’ Zane’s voice was worried and frustration was felt through the bond.

‘Please, Zane, just go before it gets late and you get caught. I will be fine, and you can come and get me after the attacks are done. Be safe my love.’ And I closed the mind-link and didn’t answer the mic.

I looked around from the place I was half lying on boxes and half sitting on the floor, as I was arguing with Zane, and found Anton, wide-eyed, staring at me on the floor, and a number of other people looking at me curiously.

‘Hi.’ I said to Anton, ‘Care to help me up?’ I asked.

Anton rushes forward and pulls a box off of me and lifts me up off the floor. The other few boxes that were on me fell to the floor.

‘Welcome.’ Says a man who looked a lot like Anton.

‘Hi, you must be Alpha Alex, sorry about my entrance. Some boxes were stuck and I lowered myself down to wiggle them, but they kinda gave way unexpectedly, but then if I had just used my head, it would always be going to give way eventually.’ I laughed as I dusted myself off and offered my hand to Alpha Alex, who just looked at my hand perplexed.

‘Dad, this is Madison, Madison, I see you have already guessed who this man is, though after seeing you in action, it does not surprise me at all.’ Chuckles Anton, as he starts picking up the boxes off the floor and hands them over to some lads waiting close by.

‘Madison? As in the future Luna? The one who knew you were close by and who led you back to the Alpha king?’ asked Alex, his face beaming with pleasure, now understanding who I was.

‘Yes, dad, the one and only, isn’t she amazing?’ he grins full of adoration.

‘Let me show you around Madison, though, I am sorry we are meeting in such circumstances.’ Alex takes my still outstretched hand and shakes it, seemingly more confident, now he knew who I was.

The underground is amazing, a lot more roomier than I expected. If I did not know I was so far underground, you would not know it. The lighting was some sort of glowing material that was better than candles, or even electric lights. Although there were no windows, there seemed to be plenty of air moving around the cave, the walls were decorated, like in any home, and the floors had skins and other materials scattered about, making the place homely.

‘Can we talk, or has Anton already filled you in with what is about to happen?’ I asked.

‘Anton has given us a lot of information, though it would be nice to chat and have some questions answered if you don’t mind,’ Alex said.

He took me to a dining hall, where there were eight large tables, with plates and some of the food we had sent and some pots that looked like some sort of stew.

‘Sit, we shall talk while we eat, if you don’t mind.’ Alex suggests and points to a chair for me to sit on.

‘Not at all.’ I take an offered seat and Anton places food on the plate in front of me, and then does the same for Alex and himself before placing the pot back on the table and the others proceed to take food.

The stew was nice, a vegetable mixture, and I thought if they had not got out of here for a long time, they most likely not been able to get meat.

Alex asked me a number of questions and, luckily, I could answer them, then Anton brought over the boxes with the communicators in them and two pots of polish and the wipes and antidote, and I explained about the polish and the communicators.

In one of the boxes that had the communicators in it, was a tablet that I had shown Anton how to use. With me now down here, I thought I would set it up, and was pleased it had not broken in the fall, and opened a link to the monitor room.

Soon Gerome’s happy face is looking at me, and I move the screen slightly so Alex and Anton can see Gerome. I introduced Gerome to them and he advised me that he had called the Alpha to come to the monitor room.

Alpha enters the screen and I do the introductions, and then leave the two Alpha’s to chat.

Anton takes me around the place and shows me where the tunnels have collapsed and how worried they are if they manage to get through this tunnel. I could see the problem and was glad we would be attacking soon, and hopefully both sides will be free from the advisor’s plans.

Anton took me to a room that would be mine for the duration of my stay, and left me to settle down for the night.

I mind-linked Zane and told him I was now in bed and resting. He seemed happier now that we could chat and after a while, I dozed off listening to Zane talking about something that was to happen tomorrow.
