The Werewolf King’s Runaway Queen -
Chapter 10
Alissa's
POV
"Are you okay with this, Ali?" Liana asked with concern.
I gently squeezed her hand.
"It's fine" I assured her.
Then, I looked at Luke.
"Uhm.if it's okay with you, youe majesty, can we please take this outside? I think I'll be able to talk more comfortable with some fresh air" I suggested. Luke immediately frowned at me.
"Why? So you can run away again?" he said.
I clenched my jaw lightly.
"Luke" Lia lightly scolded her brother.
I gave Lia a small smile so she wouldn't start an argument with her brother.
"No, your majesty. I do not plan on running away" I said.
Luke stared at me for a moment then gave a simple nod.
"Get changed before you go out. Someone will bring you a new set of clothing" he said and left.
"I'm going to give him a beating or two. He's so rude and arrogant" Lia complained.
I chuckled
"He hasn't changed a bit" I stated.
Liana gave me an apologetic look but I gave her a pat on the back.
Someone handed me a changed of clothing so I changed into that before going out.
"Just let me know when you need help. I'll be here" she said as she touched my forehead with her point finger. "We're linked now" she explained.
I nodded and hugged her.
"I'll be quick" I said.
I left the room and as soon as I got out, 4 guards surrounded me as I made my way out of the Alpha's house. I sighed in disbelief.
Isn't he taking this too far?
It's not like I specifically run away from him almost 3 years ago.
Luke really keeps grudges.
Dude has clearly never changed.
Not one bit and I'm not even surprised anymore.
I reached the outside and saw Luke.
Once I was close enough to him, the guards stepped away from me so they wouldn't block his highness.
Luke looked me up and down and then met my eyes.
"Care to take a walk, your highness?" I said.
Luke didn't give me an answer but he did started walking so I followed him.
I stayed at least 3 feet behind him.
Suddenly, he stopped and looked back at me.
"What are you doing?" he asked with a frown.
I looked around
"Uhhh..walking, your highness?" I said.
Luke massaged the bridge of his nose and sighed.
"Walk with me not behind me" he said.
I pursed my lips and nodded.
I walked beside Luke but was atleast 5 feet away from him.
He shook his head in disbelief but didn't say anything.
We walked quietly for a while.
Neither one of us was trying to start a conversation.
And he wanted to talk why?
"Your highness, you wanted to talk about something?" I said.
Luke glanced at me for a moment.
"Do you remember how we first met?" he suddenly asked.
I nodded.
"The second time?" he said
I nodded again.
"And the third time?" he asked.
I tried go back to that day.
"Was it in the training area.your highness?" I asked carefully.
He nodded.
I did my best to remember.
Flashback...
I stared at the ceiling in my room.
I've been staying in the house for days after my second day here didn't go well.
Again.
With that, I only exit my room once to eat late in the evening because ! refused eating with my mom and Axel.
Then, there was a knock on my door and when it opened, I saw Axel.
"Hey, kid" he greeted.
"Hey. What's up?" I asked as I sat up.
"I'm going to the training area today to evaluate the guards and warriors. You want to come with?" he asked.
I thought about it.
Training area.
That seems like a good a spot.
"Can you give me a minute to get dressed?" I asked.
He nodded.
"Sure, kid. Take your time" he said and left my room.
I grabbed a pair of blackyleggings and zipper front sports jacket and rubber shoes.
I put a hair tie on my wrists then went down.
Axel and my mom were in the kitchen hugging each other so I averted my gaze from them.
"Alissa, are you ready to go?" Axel asked.
I nodded.
"Yeah" I said.
Axel kissed my mom goodbye and opened the door.
"Enjoy, honey" my mom said as she went to kiss me.
"Sure. Bye" I said and walked out the door even before she could get to me.
I left there and Axel followed me.
"Where to?" I asked when I heard his footsteps behind me.
"East side of the palace" he said. i nodded and kept walking.
Axel did not say another word to me as we walked and I was able to see the training area from a distance.
"Alissa" Axel called as he went beside me to walk.
"Yes?" I replied.
"Your mom mentioned that you learned self defense and combat skills before" he said.
I nodded.
"Correct" I said.
"Then, you must be quite experienced if you've been doing it for years" he continued.
I nodded again.
I'm good enough" I stated.
"Maybe you will like training with the others or with me some time" he offered.
I glanced at him for a moment as he looked at me hopeful.
"I'll look into it. Thanks" I said.
We arrived at the training area and I looked around mesmerized with the many wolves training and doing drills.
"You like what you see?" Axel tried to start another conversation.
"It's impressive" I said looking around.
Then, my eyes landed on the woman training the warriors. i
It was the Queen.
Except this time, she did not look like the war, sweet and welcoming person that I met the first time I got here.
She wore black all over as she held her head high with pride while she surveyed everyone
The intense look in her eye made me shiver.
She wasn't necessarily doing anything but her whole presence was enough to intimidate any wolf or being that will lay eyes on her. She's incredible.
Absolutely stunning and amazing in many ways than one.
No wonder she's the Queen.
"You okay there?" Axel asked.
I nodded.
"The Queen looks really cool" I said.
Axel chuckled.
"Her highness is more amazing than you think. She's great in many ways and is outstanding in everything she does" he stated.
I nodded in agreement.
She does seem like that so I don't think it's much of a surprise anymore since her whole presence screamed 'incredible'
"Let's go. The evaluation will start soon" Axel said.
I followed him and we went where the Queen was.
In all honesty, I felt nervous being near to the Queen because well, I punched her son on my first day here.
The Queen turned and looked in our direction.
As soon as she saw me, her expression changed and she walked towards us.
"Alissa" she said with a smile on her face.
I immediately bowed to her in respect.
Then, she held the side of my head.
"How are you doing so far?" she asked.
"I know it must not be so easy to be in a new environment with new people but I do hope that with time, you'll be able to adapt and enjoy your new home" she said warmly.
I smiled a little.
"I'm doing fine, your highness. Thank you" I said.
She gave me a smile and an encouraging nod.
Then, 2 more men approached us.
"This must be Alissa" one said.
"Hello" I greeted shyly.
"Welcome, kid" the other said and offered me his hand.
'Alissa, this is Rainer. He's the royal head warrior and my good friend"
Axel introduced the man so I shook his hand.
"And then, this is Connor, the royal head guard and also a good pal of mine" he continued and the Connor guy shook my hand as well.
"Axel is very lucky to have a beautiful daughter like you" Connor commented.
"Stepdaughter" I corrected.
They seemed surprised with what I said and just awkwardly chuckled
"Okay, now. Why don't we prepare for the evaluation" the Queen interrupted
I stood in the corner observing as the men prepared.
It was extremely fascinating to watch.
The evaluation started and I watched as they did drill after drill and then they started sparring in their human form up to sparring in their wolf form.
The evaluators consisted of the Queen, the royal head warrior, head guard and Axel, the assistant head warrior.
I was in awe as I watched everyone spar.
I've only ever trained with my dad, his best friend and some of his close friends.
This definitely opened my eyes to a wider range of wolves in combat.
The evaluation continued on and I enjoyed every minute of it as I stood by the sidelines.
After some time, it finished.
"What do you think, Alissa?" the Queen approached.
"Oh uh I think they were extremely impressive. I think it was really cool, your highness" I commented nervously.
The Queen smiled.
"You're nervous again. Calm down, Alissa. It's just me. I don't necessarily bite" she joked.
We both chuckled.
"Mom"
The Queen turned and I looked as well only to see the person who probably hated me the most here.
"Hey, buddy" the Queen greeted her son.
If I remember correctly, his name is Luke.
"Luke, you remember Alissa" the Queen said.
I was correct. It's Luke. Prince Luke.
"How could I forget?" he said with a frown.
I awkwardly looked away in embarrassment.
The Queen cleared her throat.
"Be nice" she said
"Alissa, you seemed really interested earlier
Do you have any history with combat or?" the Queen.
"Yes, your highness. My father and his friends used to train me when I was younger" I said.
The Queen nodded.
"Then, would you be interested in training with the other young bloods?" she asked.
I was a little taken aback but I nodded.
"Mom, no. What if she can't keep up with us? We've been training hard these past years to be where we are. I doubt she'll be able to become someone our level overnight" he said.
I frowned.
What?
"Luke" the Queen said with a warning tone.
Prince Luke looked away with furrowed brows.
"T'd be happy to prove myself" I said.
Prince Luke gave me a look while the Queen smiled.
"You think you can beat me?" the Prince said.
"I think I can level with you" I said.
That statement of mine definitely did not impress him at all.
The next thing I know, I was in the middle with a lot of wolves around us watching.
"This is not a fight and the main purpose of this is for Alissa to show us what she's got. You both stop when I tell you to" the Queen said.
I nodded but Prince Luke just continued to glare at me.
A whistle blew and we circled each other.
I was on defense mode because I knew I'd need to know how my opponent moves first.
Luckily for me, he attacked first and I dodged it.
Everyone cheered while the Prince looked surprised and upset with my fast reflex.
The Prince continues attacking and attacking while I kept dodging and dodging.
well.
Everyone was going crazy and I think the Prince is close to insanity as
As he lunged at me, I saw an opening so I took it and I threw in a punch landing it on his stomach.
The Prince stumbled back with a stunned expression and I kept my guard up.
The Prince continued attacking again but more aggressively this time.
He managed to land a punch on my side and I groaned in pain but stepped back.
The Prince didn't stop there as he lunged at me to attack again.
Think fast.
Just before he hit me, I made a defense move and I threw him on his back.
He fell to the ground on his back and I stepped away.
He immediately got up with a furious look then he growled at me and just before he could attack again, the Queen got between us.
"Enough" she said and looked at the Prince's direction.
Axel rushed to me and shielded me from the Prince's view.
What have I done?
End of Flashback...
"We just never got along, did we, your highness?" I said Luke didn't answer.
"Your highness, with all due respect, I know that we're both very aware of our incompatibility ever since we met so I really think we should consider having an open mind with our situation" I said carefully.
I've been waiting for my mate my whole life and never did it once cross my mind that it would be a royalty and most specifically, Luke.
We're polar opposites and we're both from completely different worlds.
I'm a kindergarten teacher who belongs in a small pack in a secluded area while Luke is of royal blood and is King of werewolves.
That's a whole mismatch right there.
Also, our wolves might crave each other but I'm certain that Luke and I both want nothing to do with each other.
I thought about it a lot when I was recovering and I could only really come up with one solution
I stopped and so did Luke as he looked at me with furrowed brows.
"I say this with good intentions, your highness but I think we should consider a rejection" I said
I watch as Luke's impression turned from cold to furious.
"What?" he spat.
I sighed.
"Your highness, I know that you dislike me, hate me even from the moment you met me. I do not want us to suffer from the past trauma we've caused each other. Not to mention how we almost killed each other in what was supposed to be a sparring session. Being together ia not a good move for us, your highness" I explained
At the mention of the time when we almost killed each other, I saw Luke's expression change but I couldn't really interpret how he felt at the memory of it.
"Also, my home ad my sense of responsibility is with the Sol pack while yours is back in the palace and everyone, your highness. I think it would be of your best interest to replace a mate that can lead by your side and that's not me" I stated.
Luke clenched his jaw and fists.
"Are you hearing yourself right now?" he said with gritted teeth.
I can tell that he's furious.
He chuckled in disbelief and then looked at me with a glare.
"That's not am option because you're coming back to the palace with me to complete the mating process and get married" he said firmly.
My eyes widened in shock.
"What?" I spat.
No
