Alissa 'Soleil's POV

"Here" Cal said as he gave me can of iced coffee.

"Thank you" I said and drank it since he already opened it for me.

"Your ex is leaving this morning. I'll do the last check up by myself before he goes if you don't want to see him" he said.

"I'd like that" I said.

Calum nodded.

"Okay" he said.

"We still have half a day ahead of us. Let's keep doing our best" he said.

I nodded.

Calum smiled a little and he sat on his table and leaned in to me.

He planted a kiss on the top of my head.

"Don't worry too much" he said.

I nodded and smiled a little.

I can't even tell him what happened hours ago.

Flashback...

After the encounter with Luke, I just continued to focus on work.

I let a resident check on Luke instead of Calum.

Calum and I had a quick dinner then immediately went back to work.

A bunch of patients came in the ER with a case of food poisoning coming from a party.

We treated those patients and I had to perform and assist in 2 surgeries up until midnight.

I just finished the surgery I assisted on and it was already a little past midnight.

I walked to the locker room and I grabbed my pouch so I could go and brush my teeth and wash my face.. "Hello, Dr. Ellis, how are you holding up?" a resident asked me.

I gave him a small smile.

"I'm still feeling fine, thank you. How about you? How are you holding up?" I asked back.

"I'm still getting used to the long shifts, doctor" he answered as he scratched his head shy.

I slightly chuckled and I gave him a pat on the back.

"You'll eventually get there" I said.

He blushed a little and I smiled.

"I'll see you later then" I said and he nodded and bowed his head before I walked away.

I went to the bathroom and I brushed my teeth then washed my face.

I looked at myself in the mirror as water dripped from my face to my chin to the bathroom sink.

"Just 9 more hours. 9 more hours and he's gone" I muttered.

I bit my lower lip and looked down as I sighed.

Then, suddenly the bathroom door closed shut.

My brows furrowed and I grabbed face towel and wiped my face before walking to the door.

I pulled on it and it was locked from the outside.

What?

I pulled and twisted the doorknob again and it really was locked.

I knocked on the door.

"Excuse me? Is anyone outside? I'm locked in" I said.

Then, I heard a subtle giggle.

"You deserve it, you btch. Now, you can't see Calum for the rest of the night"

I raised my brow.

Really?

Calum's ex again?

This girl just never runs out of idea to terrorize me.

She's so obsessed with Calum and it's crazy how she can go to extreme lengths just to get him.

I listened as her footsteps faded away.

That brat.

Does she plan on really locking me for the rest of my shift.

I scoffed.

Unbelievable.

Anyways, I can break the door if I wanted to anyway.

Tch.

I walked back to the sink and cleaned my things and placed it back on my pouch.

After that, I was going to break the door to get out.

But then, it was suddenly unlocked.

Did she change her mind?

The door opened and instead of seeing Calum's ex, I saw mine.

My brows furrowed as Luke looked at me.

"What are you doing here?" I said.

"Can we talk?" he asked.

I raised a brow at him.

"What if I don't want to?" I said.

"Please. I'm begging you" he said.

"What are we even going to talk about?" I said crossing my arms in front of mu chest.

Luke sighed.

"I talked to the moon goddess" he said.

I bit the inside of my lower lip.

Then, I looked at my watch.

"15 minutes. I'm going to give you 15 minutes" I said.

"I'm going to put my things back and meet you in the rooftop" I added.

Luke nodded.

He stepped aside and I walked out.

I walked back to the locker room and put my things back.

I contemplated on going?

Should I? Or should I not?

I bit my lower lip.

Should I hear what he has to say?

I shouldn't even care.

But why is it so hard to not care?

I bit my lower lip and sighed.

Then, I closed my locker.

I walked out of the room and headed to the direction of the rooftop.

One last time.

I'll talk to him one last time.

I went to the rooftop and I syood at the steel door.

I took a deep breath and opened it.

The cool breeze of air hit my face and then I met eyes with Luke.

The ray of light coming from the moon hit his face.

My jaw clenched as I looked at him.

Then, I walked a few steps closer.

"I'm listening" I said.

Luke didn't speak immediately and I looked at my watch.

He only had 15 minutes.

No extensions.

"I felt it that day" he said and I looked at him curiously.

"The day you died" he said.

Oh.

"Even then, I didn't believe it. I refused to believe it. But I guess there was no mistake. You did die that day" he continued.

I didn't say anything and just listened.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you during such a scary experience" he said as a tear escaped his eye.

My jaw clenched.

"I know now that the reason why you are alive now is because you made a deal with the Sun God" he said.

"Then, you must know now why I'm not the Alissa I was before" I said.

Luke shook his head.

"I don't believe that" he said.

"Maybe you did lose half of your identity and waa replaced with another. But you're still the same Alissa that I once knew" he said.

My brows furrowed.

"You're still the same Alissa who is reckless of her own life just to save another. You're still the same Alissa who is kind, head strong and passionate at what she does. If anything, your absence pushed you to replace yourself again after losing Reeva" he said. I bit my lower lip.

"For the first time in 13 years, I feel glad" he suddenly said.

"I feel glad that you left because you found yourself again. That you didn't give up. And now, I'm not planning on giving up on you either" he said.

My brows furrowed.

"Come back with me, Alissa. Even for just a few days" he said.

"What?" I spat.

"That or I can just tell everybody that you're alive and that you're here. They'll be more than willing to travel here to you to see you" he said.

My jaw clenched and brows furrowed as I walked to him.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" I growled as I held him by his hospital gown collar.

"I'm doing you a favor?" he said.

"A favor?! Is blackmailing me your way of doing me a favor?!" I shouted angrily.

"I do what I need to do to accomplish a certain goal" he said.

"What goal?" I said with gritted teeth.

Luke just smiled at me.

"You fcking jerk" I said and let him go with a push.

"You think you can manipulate me into going back? You're mistaken" I said.

Then, I turned my back to walk away.

"2 weeks from now, I'm going to send someone to fetch you. If you arrive in the Palace, I won't need to send everyone your way and complicate the life your living now. All you have to do is stay for a few days and you can return here to the city" he said. My jaw tightened as I stopped.

"2 weeks, Alissa. You have 2 weeks to decide" he said.

Then, I left.

End of Flashback...

That bastrd.

And to think I agreed to talk to him.

Now, my decision is haunting me again.

I should've known not to get involved with him ever again.

If only he hadn't seen the ultrasound.

He wouldn't have confirmed my identity.

I sighed.

What am I going to do now?

I can't meet everyone again after 13 years.

But I can't not meet them as well.

I don't want them to come to my work and cause a commotion.

I can't mix up my past from my present.

I massaged the bridge of my nose.

This is stressing me out.

I feel like thinking about it is more tiring than my 36 hour shift.

I feel like I want to rest. For the rest of my life.

Ugh. This is absolutely awful.

I hate it so much.

"Are you okay? You don't look good. I've noticed it since earlier but didn't want to mention it but you spaced out just noe" Cal pointed out.

I looked at him and contemplated on telling him.

I decided not to.

Atleast not yet.

I should make my decision first before telling him.

"I'm fine. Thank you" I said and stood up.

"I should make my morning rounds" I said.

Cal nodded.

"I should too. Let's meet up after to eat breakfast" he said and I nodded.

We left his office together and went to the desk together to get our patients' records.

We got the records and got inside the elevator to the in-patient floor.

"I'll see you later" Cal said and I nodded as we parted ways.

I checked on my patients as usual.

For my last patient, I checked on a girl who was in and out of the hospital.

Her name was Lara.

I knocked on her room.

"Come in"

I opened the door and peaked inside.

"Dr. Ellis" Lara's mom said.

"Good morning" I greeted them both.

"Good morning, Dr. Ellis. You look as beautiful as ever" Lara said.

I smiled and chuckled.

"Lara, please. I've been awake for 24 hours straight. I haven't showered nor changed my clothes. I don't think I look that nice" I said.

Both Lara and her mom giggled.

"You do look a bit tired but you're still really pretty" Lara said.

I smiled.

"Thank you, Lara. I think you look stunning as well" I said.

"Let me do a quick check up on you, okay?" I said and Lara nodded.

I checked on Lara and after that, I told her and her mom the updates on her condition.

"If she continues to recover like this, she can be discharged in a week" I said.

Lara's mom nodded.

"I should go and tell her dad" she said then turned to Lara.

"Honey, I'll give your dad a quick call. Would that be alright?" she asked Lara.

Lara nodded.

"Sure, mom. Take your time" Lara said then turned to me.

"Dr. Ellis, do you need to leave now?" she asked me.

I shook my head.

"No, Lara. I think I can stay with you for a moment" I said with a smile.

"Thank you, doctor. I'll be quick" Lara's mom said as she made her way out of the room.

"Please, doctor. Sit down" Lara said politely.

I sat down on the chair beside her.

"Dr. Ellis" she said.

"Yes, Lara?" I replied.

"I know it's none of my business but are you okay?" she asked.

"You seem...off. A little less carefree and a bit tensed. Is there something bothering you?" she said.

I was a bit taken aback.

Was I that obvious?

"Oh uh I'm fine, I think" I said.

"You're not sure?" she said tilting her head to the side curiously.

I bit my lower lip.

"There's just been something that's really bothering me" I told her.

"What is it? Can you tell me, Dr. Ellis? My friends said I really give good advices. Maybe I can help you" she offered.

I

smiled.

I took a deep breath.

"There's this friend" I started.

"Well, she was once betrayed by someone she loved. He hurt her and it made her feel like she wanted to disappear" I said.

Lara listened attentively.

"Because she was so hurt, she left. She left and never looked back. She changed almost everything about her because she didn't want anyone from her past to recognize her. She didn't want to remember the painful past that she had" I continued. "Did she leave her family too?" Lara asked curiously.

I nodded.

"She left everyone" I said.

Lara gave me a soft look.

"Then what happened?" she asked.

"Well, she began a new life. Then, many many years later, she meets the person who hurt her the most" I said.

"She thought he wouldn't recognize her. She hoped he wouldn't. But he did" I continued.

"She keeps trying to make him go away but he was determined to get her back. He goes through extreme length to make her come back" I said.

"Then, he must really love her" Lara suddenly said.

I paused for a moment.

"But he hurt her in the past. He hurt her so much" I said.

"He must've made a mistake then" she said.

"He did" I said.

"Don't we all make mistakes?" she suddenly asked.

I couldn't answer that.

"Has she heard his explanation? His side?" she asked.

I bit my lower lip.

"No" I answered.

"Don't you think she should?" she said.

I gulped.

Should I?
