Alissa Soleil's POV

"Dr. Ellis, you are needed in the ER floor. They're asking how much longer the surgery will be" a nurse came in the OR for me. "Give me 5 minutes and I'll be out. I'll let them close up" I said.

The nurse nodded and left.

I finished off the surgery and then handed the patients care to the resident president to close the patient up.

"The patient needs to be monitored continuously for the next few hours after the surgery" I said and they nodded. "Yes, doctor" they said.

I stepped out in the OR and quickly washed up before rushing to the ER floor.

The patients just kept coming and coming.

It was a hectic day in the hospital.

So hectic that I haven't even taken a seat in hours.

My legs are already slightly tingling but I had other patients to worry about.

It's been a few more months and my due date is in a few days.

Still, I go to work every day like usual.

Luke has been staying here in the city for 3 consecutive weeks.

Sometimes he leaves to work on something but he returns within the day.

He wanted to make sure I'll be taken care of and that he won't miss it when I give birth.

He insisted I stopped working but I only felt anxious staying at work so I continued to work in the hospital.

"Dr. Ellis, here!" a nurse called for me.

I rushed over there.

We continued to treat patients until past lunch time and even until then, we couldn't get a break because we needed to monitor and check on them from time to time. "Dr. Ellis" a nurse came up to me.

"Yes?" I said.

"A man is asking to see you at the front desk" she told me.

My brows furrowed a little.

"Did they say who they were?" I asked.

The nurse nodded.

"Luke. He said he's name is Luke" she said.

Oh.

I almost forgot.

I grabbed my phone and saw the multiple missed calls and unread messages.

I sighed.

I went with the nurse to meet Luke.

He must have brought me lunch and came to check up on me since I wasn't reply to his calls and texts.

I saw Luke by the front desk and all the nurses were ogling over him.

"Luke" I called.

Luke looked in my direction and smiled.

"Finally" he said in relief and he walked up to me and suddenly hugged me.

I was a little surprised but I didn't push him back.

I can see the shock in everyone's eyes when they saw me with Luke but I ignored them.

"What is it?" I asked.

"You weren't answering any of my calls or texts. I thought something happened to you" he said.

I sighed.

"I'm sorry it's just we've been really busy and I was too preoccupied to check my phone" I told him.

"Did you eat lunch at least" he asked.

I shook my head.

Luke sighed.

"You shouldn't skip meals" he told me.

"I know. I know. Like I said, I was too busy but I'll eat once I can, okay?" I said.

"Okay. You're still not done?" he asked.

I shook my head.

"Not yet" I said.

"I'll wait until you are so I'm sure that you won't forget" he said.

I sighed and nodded.

"Okay. You should wait in the waiting area because you can't come inside" I told him.

Luke nodded.

I glanced once at the nurses as they kept watching us.

"I'll be back soon" I told Luke.

"I'll wait for you" he said with a small smile.

I nodded and went back inside.

I'm pretty sure that in a matter of hours, the news about Luke and I will be around the hospital.

I went back to my work and kept checking on the patients.

Just as I was about to finish, a nurse came up to me and asked me to check another patient's chart.

I checked it and as I was checking, the nurse looked down then she tapped me ans when I looked at her, she looked at me wide eyed.

"D-dr. Ellis, your leg. The f-floor" she said and she pointed to my leg.

That's when I saw it.

I saw fluid dripping down to my legs to my foot.

My heart beat sped up immediately and the nurse and I both looked at each other in shock.

"Call Dr. Williams" I said.

"Tell him I'm going into labour" I added.

Her eyes widened even more.

"Please, hurry" I said and she snapped back into reality.

I carefully walked out of the patient's area and a few nurses rushed to my aid.

"Oh my ghad, Dr. Ellis" one exclaimed.

They helped me and sat me down on a hospital bed.

Calum finally came and he rushed to my side.

"You're going into labour already?" he said wide eyed and I nodded.

"Okay okay. I already called an OB so stay put" he said.

I nodded again and winced when I suddenly felt the contractions.

I groaned in pain.

"It's okay. Breathe" Cal said as he held my hand.

I gulped.

"Luke is outside" I told him.

"I need you to get him here. I can't hold anyone else unless I'm trying to kill them or break their bones" I told him.

Cal bit his lower lip and nodded.

"I'll get him quickly so keep taking big breaths for me, okay?" he said and I nodded.

"Look after Soleil and don't leave her. She's our patient now" Cal said to the nurses.

The nurses nodded as they still processed the situation.

I'm sure they were more than just shocked to replace out that not only am I pregnant, but also that I'm about ti give birth here. In the hospital that I work at. Where I told nobody about my pregnancy. Well, I did tell someone.

And that's Calum.

They must all be shocked, surprised and definitely confused.

I don't blame them.

I purposely hid it from everyone because it will get a lot more confusing if they watched my whole pregnancy.

The OB came and immediately assessed me.

Then, Cal and Luke came.

Luke looked at me wide eyes and I gritted my teeth in pain as the contractions became even worse.

"Ali" Luke said and he rushed beside me and held my hand.

Everyone looked at Luke and then at Cal and them at me.

Now, they were even more confused than ever.

"Cal, we need to take her to the delivery room now. This baby is coming fast" the OB said.

Cal nodded.

"Everyone, move!" the OB said and I was rushed to the delivery room.

Luke held my hand the whole time and every time that I felt the contraction, I squeezed his hand.

It hurts so much.

"Dr. Ellis, how far along are you?" the OB asked me on the way.

"I'm due in a few days" I told her.

The doctor nodded and we reached the delivery room.

The OB looked at Luke.

"I need him inside with me" I said.

"Please" I added.

The doctor nodded.

Calum stayed back and I looked at him one last time before going in.

I forced a smile to assure him that I'll be fine.

We got inside the delivery room and I was prepped for delivery.

I felt so anxious and scared.

I've seen a lot of women give birth before.

I've even experienced being the doctor to deliver the baby.

But I was still scared out of my mind.

Scared that something bad might happen during the delivery.

Scared that I might cause my baby pain.

My heart thumped inside of my chest like crazy.

Then, I felt a squeeze on my hand.

I looked at Luke and he held my face.

"It's okay. I'm here" he said softly.

I gulped and nodded.

Luke kissed my forehead.

The doctor in charged checked me.

"Dr. Ellis-Soleil, your baby is coming. I need to know, is this your first pregnancy?" she asked.

I shook my head.

"No. It's my s-second. I suffered a m-miscarriage during my f-first pregnancy" I told her.

The doctor nodded in understanding.

"We're going to start now, okay? I need you to work with me" she said and I nodded.

We started the process.

"Soleil, push!" the doctor said.

I pushed as I held Luke's hand.

"You're doing great. Keep pushing!" she said and I did just that.

I kept pushing.

It hurts so much.

"Again!" she said.

I pushed yet again.

I've experienced a lot of kinds of pain.

Physical.

Emotional.

Mental.

I've experienced many different near death experiences.

But this...

This is the one that hurt the most.

I never thought it would hurt this much.

I felt like I could pass out from the pain.

"Keep pushing, Soleil. I can already see the head" the doctor said.

I kept pushing just as I was told.

I could see it in Luke's eyes. The way he looked at me.

He was extremely worried, anxious and scared.

Just like I was.

"The head is out!" the doctor said.

"Just a little bit more, Soleil!" my doctor said.

I pushed once more with a scream.

"The baby's out!" the doctor said.

Just then, I heard the cries.

My vision became a bit blurry for a moment.

"It's a boy" the doctor said and she laid my son on my chest.

My vision cleared and I looked at him.

He looked so beautiful.

So precious.

I turned to Luke as he also stared at our son.

I smiled in relief.

"He's here" I said weakly as a tear escaped my eye.

Luke nodded and a tear also fell from his eye.

"He's here" he said and he kissed my forehead.

I smiled and looked at our son again.

"Hi, River" I greeted him softly.

He kept crying and Luke and I stared at him in awe.

The nurse took him back to clean him up.

Then, my vision became blurry again and my eyes felt heavy.

I started hearing beeping noises and suddenly I was out of it.

"Ali? Alissa? Alissa!" I heard Luke's voice but it was muffled.

"Soleil! Soleil!" I felt a slight tap then my body felt like it was shutting down.

What's happening to me?

Suddenly, everything just went black.

I couldn't see anything or hear anything.

I didn't replace myself in the meadow or the forest

It was just...darkness.

I felt scared.

What happened to me?

Did I die?

I felt terrified of the thought.

I can't die.

I haven't even held my son in my arms.

I haven't fed him.

Hugged him.

Kissed.

I can't be dead.

I need to be with my family.

I want to watch my son grow up.

I want to see him open his eyes.

I want to watch him crawl for the first time.

I want to watch him eat his first meal.

I want to see him take his first step.

I want to hear him say his first word.

I want to see him run around.

I want to watch him go to school.

I want to watch him become a boy.

I want to see all that.

I don't want to die yet.

I want to be a mother to my child.

Then, I saw light and I followed it.

Once I reached the light, it slowly turned into something else.

Then, in a blink of an eye, I saw a girl standing before me.

She smiled at me and tears streamed down my face.

"Reeva" I muttered.

She smiled even wider.

"Hi, mommy" she said.

I rushed to her and hugged her.

I cried as I held her and she hugged me back.

My sweet girl is here.

I cried for a while then I looked at her face

She looked beautiful.

She resembled Luke a lot.

"My daughter" I said.

Reeva smiled at me then she held my face.

"It's time to wake up, mommy" she said.

Tears streamed down my face.

I didn't want to leave her.

"Don't worry, I'll always be here" she said.

I pursed my lips as my tears continued.

Then, I kissed her forehead.

"I miss you and I love you. So much" I told her.

Reeva smiled and nodded.

"I know. I miss and love all of you too" she said.

Then, she leaned in and kissed my forehead.

I closed my eyes.

Once I opened them, I heard the beeping of machines and I felt something in my mouth.

I couldn't move immediately but I forced myself to.

"Ali!" Luke rushed to me.

Then, he frantically called the doctors.

Everyone came rushing and I looked around.

Then, I remembered my daughter and a tear escaped my eye.

I didn't think I'd be able to to see her ever.

But I did.

She saved me.

Reeva saved me.

My angel saved me.
