Luke's

POV

I stared out of the window of the car as we made our way to the Sol pack where Alissa was.

I haven't seen her in days and I haven't slept a wink without my wolf pestering me to be with her.

It's hard.

Alissa and I were never ones to get along for a variety of reasons and now that we've found out that we're mates, makes everything extremely complicated. Not to mention how my family is getting involved.

I first met Alissa when I was 12 when they first moved to the the palace's territory.

Even our first meeting wasn't ideal.

I sighed.

"Your highness" my drive called me.

I looked at the rear view mirror and noticed the nervous look on my driver's face.

"What is it?" I asked with furrowed brows.

"Your highness, misss miss Alissa is on the run" he said.

My eyes widened.

"What?!" I growled.

"What the fck is going on there?!" I immediately mind linked my bodyguards.

"Your highness, miss Alissa has escaped through her bedroom window and has ran to the woods" Alissa's bodyguard reported.

I clenched my fist.

Alissa.

"Find her or else" I said and cut off the link.

"Stop the car" I demanded.

My driver immediately stopped the car on the side and I got off.

Alissa better hope I don't replace her myself because I am pissed off.

I walked to the direction of the woods and then started running and then I shifted into my wolf.

I sprinted through the woods following the direction of the Sol pack.

I can feel my wolf's anger rising inside of me with the news of our mate running away.

We've been waiting for so long for her and she pulls this bullsht on us.

3 years.

My wolf; Malik and I have waited 3 years for Alissa and her wolf for 3 years for her to come back or just show up. Ever since that night that I found out, I've been anticipating to see her again.

Flashback...

I went around greeting guests after guests from different packs.

After that, I looked around to search for my family.

I spotted my sister and made my way there.

Suddenly, I caught a scent and I stopped and froze on my spot.

"Mate! It's mate's scent!" Malik said.

I rushed to the direction of the scent and it led me to my mother.

My brows furrowed as my eyes glowed green and I rushed at my mon.

I sniffed and sniffed as my eyes widened.

"What?" mom said.

"Where is she, mom?" I asked.

My mother looked at me with a confused look.

"Where is who?" she asked.

I sighed as I bit ny lower lip in frustration.

"My mate. Her scent is on you, mom" I pointed out.

My mother's eyes suddenly widened.

I immediately got a bad feeling.

My mom looked at me with a troubled expression.

"Luke, I'm sorry" she said.

My brows furrowed.

"What do you mean, mom?" I said.

My mom gulped.

"Honey, she's gone. I'm sorry" she said with apologetic eyes.

I stepped back as I felt something shatter inside of me.

Malik howled in my head.

"What do you mean she's gone?" I said.

"Luke..." my mom stepped closer to me but I stepped back.

She looked sad and in pain with my actions.

By this time, everyone was already watching us.

"Luke, honey, I'm sorry but I couldn't stop her. Not if she wanted to leave so badly. We didn't know. I didn't know. I'm sorry" my mon apologized over and over again.

I shook my head and got out of there.

I shifted into my wolf as soon as I got out of the palace.

I ran towards the direction of the gates and borders.

I need to replace her.

I need to stop her from leaving.

Whoever she is.

I ran as fast as I could to reach the gates and then I searched and searched and searched everywhere but I couldn't replace her or her trace.

She was gone.

Malik and I howled in pain as we realized that our mate has left us.

I ran through the woods for hours to tire myself out.

It was almost sunrise when I found myself too exhausted to do anything more.

I spotted a familiar tree and laid there with a whimper of disappointment.

I looked up in hopes of seeing a familiar someone in the tree branch but she wasn't there.

Why would she be?

I sighed.

Why would she leave us?

What did I do?

I kept asking questions in my head until I fell into slumber.

When I woke up, I was already in my bed.

I sat up as I turned to look at my window with a frown.

It was already late in the afternoon.

I didn't want to leave my bed nor do anything but then I realized that I needed to figure out who my mate is.

I figured my mom wouldn't tell me seeing as to how she's trying to protect the identity of whoever my mate is.

I got dressed and then I went to my mother's office knowing she wouldn't be there at this time.

I grabbed records of the members leaving here in the palace territory.

I scanned every profile and familiarized myself with everyone so I can figure out who has left.

After that, I got out of the palace from my balcony in my room.

I started doing my own search by going to the houses of every family living under the care of the palace.

Then, I stopped at Axel's house.

I knocked on the door and almost immediately, his mate opened the door.

"Your majesty" she bowed her head.

I gave her a nod.

"Is Axel home?" I asked.

"No, your majesty. He's on duty today" she said.

I nodded.

"Please come in first" she said so I did.

I looked around but didn't see Alissa anywhere.

I only saw her brother playing in the corner.

"Where's Alissa?" I asked curiously.

"She's in her room, your highness. She was not feeling well last night and couldn't join us un celebrating your birthday and she hasn't come out of her room since" she explained. My brows furrowed.

That's right.

I didn't see Alissa last night.

"Can you make her come down here for a moment?" I said.

Axel's wife gave me a curious look but nodded.

She went upstairs and I waited in the living room.

Alissa's brother was still quietly playing in the corner

It was already taking too long for Axel's wife to come so I went upstairs.

I saw an open door and as soon as I got closer, the same scent I smelled from my mom hit me so I went there and I saw the plate of food outside.

I rushed inside the room and saw Axel's wife sitting in front of a closet with tears in her eyes and and an almost empty closet.

My jaw clenched as realized hit me.

It was Alissa.

Alissa's my mate.

End of Flashback...

I was si angry when I found out.

She had left without a word and I hated that.

But I also hated myself knowing that she left when we were at our worst terms.

We haven't properly spoken in more than a year when she left.

It was because we almost killed each other sparring with one another.

Well, Alissa and I never actually talked even before but it was different after that incident.

I knew she hated me but how could she do that?

Still, I kept searching for her only to always replace myself at a dead end and arguing with ny mother.

But things are different now.

I've finally found her and even given her time to process this like my mother had insisted.

I'm done playing games with her.

She's coming home with me whether shw likes it or not.

After some time, I finally reached the pack territory and I didn't even waste any time and went straight through the woods.

I ran as I searched for Alissa's scent.

I was already getting frustrated when I couldn't replace anything track of her until I did.

I followed her scent until it was suddenly gone so I stopped.

I looked around.

I could only smell my men's scent but not hers.

Why did the track end here?

Then, it hit me.

I looked up and I was right.

I saw a figure in a tree branch and I was sure that it was Alissa.

It wasn't a first.

She used to do this all the time before whenever something bad happened to her.

I would know because I was always there watching her.

Flashback...

"Done with training?" Rainer popped in.

"Yeah" I said as I wiped my sweat and grabbed a shirt to wear.

"Where you off to now?" he asked.

"I'm going to take a stroll in the woods" I said.

Rainer nodded and gave me a pat on the back.

"Good job today, kiddo" he said and left.

I just chuckled.

Oh Rainer.

After training, I made my way to the woods for a stroll.

It was another way of mine to memorize the palace territory.

I've been doing it for years so I know the territory like the back of my hand.

I know every corner even if it was meant to be hidden or secret.

After walking for some time, I heard the sound of crying.

It was faint so I looked around and tried to search where it was coming from.

But I couldn't see anyone.

Then, I heard another whimper and I stopped.

Still, I couldn't see anyone but was hearing something.

For some reason, I looked up.

Then, I saw a figure.

My brows furrowed as I tried to make up who it was.

I tried to see a different angle to figure out who it was.

Then, I finally found out.

Alissa...

What is she doing on a tree?!

I didn't know what to do.

Should I demand for her to get down?

She doesn't know I'm here and if I end up surprising her, she might fall.

Oh for fck's sake!

What is she even doing si high up in a tree?

And crying?!

Wait...

Why is she crying?

Instead of calling her, I sat down on a spot where I see her but she couldn't see me.

I waited for her so I'd know she'd be safe.

The sun set and it went dark but Alissa still wasn't going down so I kept waiting.

"Luke, where the hell are you and why aren't you at home yet?" my mother suddenly linked me.

I massaged the bridge of my nose.

I forgot to tell anyone where I was at this time.

"I'm in the woods, mom. Just..." I contemplated on either telling the truth or lying.

But if I lied, something bad might happen to Alissa.

"Mom" I said.

"What is it?" she replied.

"I think Alissa needs help" I told her.

There was silence in our link.

"I'll be there" she replied and our link was cut off.

I looked up and continued to watch Alissa.

What happened that she resorted to her hiding in such a dangerous spot.

After some time, my mom came and when she saw me, I motioned for her to keep quiet.

Then, I pointed to where Alissa was and her eyes widened.

My mon sighed and glanced at me.

I motioned for her to keep quiet as to where I was and she nodded in understanding.

In one swift move, my mom went flying up.

I watched the both of them from below.

It seems like my mom was talking to her as they both sat on the tree branch.

I couldn't make up their conversation but Alissa ended up hugging my mother.

Then, after some time, they went down together with Alissa being held by my mother.

I sighed in relief when I saw that she was okay but her eyes were puffy and red from crying.

My jaw clenched.

I wondered what had happened for her ti

to cry like this.

End of Flashback...

That wasn't the last time I saw her do that.

In fact, I've seen it multiple times and I've seen how she gets down as well.

It was a skill of hers.

A dangerous one and one that I hated because it made me extremely nervous every single time.

She doesn't deserve to get hurt.
