Alissa's POV

"Your highness, we're almost at the palace" the driver announced. Luke simply nodded.

I clenched on my jeans as I started to recognize the familiar area.

I prepared myself for the worst.

After some time, I finally saw the palace and then we parked in front.

I stayed in my seat and didn't move but then the door opened and I saw Luke.

He offered his hand to me and I looked at him hesitantly.

"Come on. Mom and Lia will be inside" he said.

I took a deep breath and nodded before taking his hand.

I got out of the car and Luke and I both headed inside.

My heart was thumping inside of my chest.

I haven't been here since I was 17. Now, I'm back.

For real.

"It's going to be okay" Luke said.

I gulped and nodded.

Then, we stopped just before we got to the living room.

"Please tell me that my mom and Axel won't be there" I said.

Luke shook his head.

"They're not. Atleast not yet" he said.

I sighed in relief.

Not yet.

We continued to the living room and I saw Luke's family waiting there.

"Alissa!" Lia squealed as she ran to hug me

I hugged her back with a smile.

"You're finally back" she muttered.

I just smiled but didn't say anything.

"Hey"

I looked and saw Lucas.

"Hi" I said and I went to hug him and he hugged me back.

"Long time no see, tough nut" he whispered.

I chuckled.

Then, I was suddenly pulled away and I frowned at Luke but he simply gave me a look.

Lucas chuckled.

"Chill out, brother. I wouldn't cross that line. Not even with this one" Lucas said and placed his hand on the top of my head. Luke immediately removed it.

"I know" Luke said.

Lucas just chuckled as he shook his head in disbelief.

"Alissa, dear" aunt Livi called me.

I rushed to hug her and she caught me in her arms.

"I missed you too" she whispered to me and I smiled.

Aunt Livi planted a kiss on my forehead and I smiled at her lovingly.

"Alissa"

I then turned to his majesty, the former King Luan.

"Your majesty" I said and bowed to him.

He gave me a smile and a pat on the back.

Then, Lia came and clung onto my arms.

"You should stay at my room before your coronation" Lia said.

I looked at her in surprise.

"Coronation?" I said in surprise.

Lia turned to look at her brother, Luke.

"Haven't you guys talked about it yet?" she asked with furrowed brows.

"You haven't told her yet, have you, Luke?" aunt Livi said.

I looked at Luke feeling confused and clueless.

Luke looked at me guilty.

"I was going to talk to her about it soon" he said.

"Luke, you were supposed to tell her before you dragged her here" aunt Livi scolded Luke.

My breathing became rigid.

"You are so messed up" I said to Luke and walked away.

Lia followed me and Luke tried to follow as well but his mom and dad stopped him.

I ran outside and Lia came after me.

I felt like I was being suffocated.

Coronation?

So soon?

I just came back and this is what's already in store for me?

Oh ghad.

I feel like throwing up.

I reached the garden and instantly felt nauseous so I ended up vomiting.

Lia came to my aid and caressed my back as I vomited the little amount of food that I have consumed for the day.

Then, I turned to Lia with teary eyes.

"Oh Ali" she said as she pulled me to her for a hug and I instantly burst into tears.

"You're brother is so fcked up" I cried.

Lia caressed my back as she hugged me

"I know. I know. He's a jerk" she sympathized with me.

I kept crying and crying.

Once I've calmed down, Lia wiped my face.

"It was wrong of Luke to bring you here without telling you how things might end up. I hate that he makes you feel this way. I'm sorry, Ali. You don't deserve this" she said. I sniffed and sniffed then laid my head on her shoulder.

"Why am I so unfortunate?" I muttered.

Lia comforted me by caressing my hair.

"Look at the brighter side. You have me and mom and Lucas. We're here for you no matter what" she assured me.

I sighed.

"Lia..." I said.

"Hmm?" she responded with a hum.

"When was the coronation supposed to be?" I asked.

Liana didn't answer immediately.

"3 weeks from now. Luke set the whole thing himself when he was here and you stayed in your pack. Invitations will be sent out by next week, I think" she said.

I held on to Lia tighter.

"A wedding ceremony is to be held first before the coronation, right?" I said.

"Yes. The coronation takes place once you and my brother have taken your vows and marked each other. It's the traditional way of royalties" she said.

I buried my head on her neck with a whimper.

"I hate your brother" I mumbled.

"I'd hate him too if I was in your situation" she said with a shrug then we both chuckled.

We stayed like that for a moment.

"Ali?"

Both Lia and I turned to look and saw Lucas approaching us.

He opened his arms and I went to him.

Lucas gave me a warm hug.

"I know you're not okay so I won't ask if you are but let me atleast ask if you've already calmed down" he whispered.

I lightly smiled and nodded.

"Good" he said and gave me a pat on the back.

"Mom wants to talk to you while my brother cannot talk to you until tomorrow morning so you've still got some time left to just let your thoughts wander about" he said.

I sighed and nodded.

"Does aunt Livi want to talk to me right now?" I asked.

Lucas shook his head.

"Mom said she'd talk to you after dinner. You know, give you a little more time to clear your head and also so you can settle in either in Lia's room or the guest room" he said. "Which room do you guys think is better?" I asked.

"Mine" Lia answered.

"Lia's" Lucas answered.

The three of us chuckled then decided to gi to Lia's room.

We arrived at Lia's room and not much has changed in it since I left.

It's still how I remember it to be.

"You should get some rest. I've heard from one of your bodyguards that you haven't slept since last night" Lucas said.

"Which bodyguard?" I asked curiously since I had 6 so that's that.

"Oliver. The one you dragged to the car with you and my brother because you didn't want to be alone with him, unfortunately" he said with a chuckle.

"You forced a guard to join your misery?" Lia laughed.

I pouted.

The twins both laughed at my reaction.

"Anyway, you should actually get some rest, Ali. You need it" Lia said.

I nodded and she gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

After that, Lia and Lucas left the room and I grabbed some clothes in my luggage and changed.

Lia and I always had sleepovers together here in her room so it really wasn't a foreign space to me.

I laid on the bed and stared at the ceiling.

"I'm sorry"

My brows furrowed.

"Leave my head alone, Luke. You're not allowed to talk to me and even if you are allowed to, I really wouldn't talk to you" I replied.

It was Luke mind linking me.

"I did plan on telling you" he responded.

I rolled my eyes.

"I don't care. Now, leave me alone or I'll tell Lia to block my head from you for the rest of my life" I threatened and covered my head with my pillow.

Luke did not respond anymore.

I bit my lower lip as I stared at the ceiling.

I wasn't even given a choice if I wanted to do this whole thing or not.

I was forced to return and now I'm set to get married, marked and crowned 3 weeks from now?

It's just not fair.

It has barely sunk in to my brain that I'm mated to Luke out of the hundreds and thousands of wolves existing.

Now, this?

I sighed in disbelief and slowly closed my eyes.

I'm so tired.

I really just want to rest.

Better if it's for good.

I fell asleep only for a few hours and I was woken up by Lia.

"Hey, gorgeous. Dinner is in 30. I figured you'd want to freshen up before going down" she said.

I sat up sleepily.

"And just a heads up, Ali. Your parents will be present tonight" she said.

I froze.

"Ali..." Lia called my name.

I snapped back to reality.

"Uhm yeah okay, got that" I said and got out of the bed.

I searched for something to wear and Lia stood beside me watching what I'd pick.

I was about to pick a simple sweater cardigan but Lia grabbed it from me.

"Absolutely not" she said.

"Come here" she said and pulled me her walk in closet.

Lia rummaged through her closet then took out an apricot floral print shirred back bishop sleeve dress and then gave me a pair of sandals.

"Sweater cardigans during breakfast and lunch here are acceptable but not dinner, no" she said.

"Who said so?" I asked curiously.

"I did, obviously" she giggled.

I chuckled.

Of course.

Lia stepped out and I got dressed into what she gave me and once I was done, she pulled me to her vanity and sat me down.

"Oh how I've missed doing this" she said.

I chuckled.

Lia loved dressing me up because I was never one to focus on my physical appearance.

Lia started doing my hair and makeup like in the past.

It was pretty nostalgic to both of us since we haven't seen each other in so long.

"Do you remember when I did your makeup for your homecoming?" she said.

I smiled and nodded.

"How could I forget? I got nominated for homecoming queen so I bailed the party even before it ended out of embarrassment" I said chuckling.

Lia chuckled as well.

"You never liked the attention" she said.

"Yeah" I agreed with a sigh.

Liana finished up my makeup and hair then she stepped back.

"I didn't make it too heavy since it's just a casual dinner" she said as I looked at the mirror.

I smiled at her.

"You did amazing" I told her.

Lia smiled.

"What can I say? I have an outstanding model" she said.

We both giggled and prepared to go downstairs.

I was so nervous that my heart thumped inside of my chest like crazy.

Lia noticed and held my hand.

"Hey" she said and we both stopped.

"It's going to be okay. I'm here. Mom is here. Lucas is here. We're with you on this" she said.

I smiled as she caressed my hand.

"I'm nervous" I admitted.

"I haven't seen my mother, Axel or my brother for 3 years and I just simply disappeared from your lives" I said.

Lia held my face.

"You did what you thought you needed to do to replace yourself and gain peace of mind. You prioritized yourself and that's okay. You don't have to feel guilty for the rest of your life" she told me.

"It's okay, Lia. Don't blame or beat up yourself. You're back now" she said.

I took a deep breath and Lia smiled at me reassuringly.

We continued to make our way to the dining hall and once I got there.

I saw them.

I sae her.

She turned around to look at my direction and our eyes met.

Mother...
