Alissa's POV

"You're all cleared, miss Alissa" the doctor said.

"Thank you" I said and the doctor gave me a nod and then bowed to the royalties in the room.

Luke gave the doctor a nod while Liana rushed to my side and held my hand.

"Lia, step outside for a moment so I can talk to her" Luke said.

I gulped nervously.

Liana frowned and looked at her brother.

"No. Mom specifically said to not leave you alone with Ali. If I'm going out then you're going out" Lia said.

Luke's jaw clenched as he looked at me but I didn't meet his eyes.

He sat on the side with a frown on his face.

I wanted to laugh seeing how he was so obedient and compliant with his mother and sister despite being the King. But then again, I knew he had to.

Specially to his mother.

Luke might be the crowned King but Queen Liviana will always remain to be the most powerful werewolf alive.

And his sister?

Liana is called little Liviana when she was young for a good reason.

Also, Luke cherishes his family more than anything so he might not be the nicest person in the kingdom but he's a good son, brother and friend.

I know that much about him.

And that he's extremely competitive, is hella stubborn, cold as ice and will has a pride as high as the tallest mountain on earth.

There was a time when we sparred with each other during and that sparring session ended in the hospital because Luke refused to end it without 'winning' against me.

Luke is definitely stronger than me but he has quite the temper and I don't so when he loses his temperament, I am able to use that to my advantage and outsmart Luke. That's exactly what happened to us back then.

Luke lost his cool while I fought for both my life and my pride.

That happened when I was 15 years old and he was 16 years old. Flashback...

"Ali, how did it feel when you first shifted into your wolf?" Lia asked me.

"For one, it was painful and not just 'ouch that hurts' kind of painful it's an excruciating type of pain like 'it's so painful just kill me already' kind of painful" I said bluntly. Liana's jaw dropped as her eyes watered with tears.

I realized that I was too specific and that was not how I should've answered her questions.

I immediately held her in regret.

"I-I mean, I survived, didn't I? And it's not like not every werewolf goes through that so" I said while panicking.

Lia's eyes watered even more as she pouted.

Oh I really messed this one up and I messed it up good.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry" I kept apologizing and she burst into tears.

I comforted her for a while until she finally calmed down.

Liana and Lucas are turning 13 soon and that means they'll be able to shift into their wolf's form.

Every werewolf who has shifted knows the pain of shifting for the first time and it is definitely not for the weak hearted.

"You could've lied" Lia said as she sniffed.

"You don't like lies" I said.

"Well, that's true" she said with a chuckle.

We both chuckled and the door to Lia's room opened.

Luke came in and saw Lia.

His brows immediately furrowed as he rushed to his sister.

"What happened? Are you okay? Why did you cry?" he asked and then glared at my direction.

Lia immediately turned Luke's face to her.

"Don't glare at Lia like that. She didn't necessarily make me cry" she said.

"Then what's the reason?" Luke asked with furrowed brows.

"I was just scared of the thought of shifting for the first time" Lia explained. Luke sighed.

"Can you get out for a moment?" Luke told me.

I nodded and gave them both a bow before leaving.

Just as I closed the door, I heard Lia.

"You are so mean. Quit it" she said and I managed to close the door.

I sighed as I made my way out of there.

I walked downstairs and to the kitchen so I could get some water then head out.

I found Lucas there on his tablet while chugging on soda.

He saw me when I walked in so I slightly bowedy head to him.

"Want some?" he asked.

I shook my head.

"No, thanks. I'll just have water" I said and he gave me a nod as I passed him.

I grabbed a bottle of water in the fridge.

"Where you off to?" he asked curiously.

"The training area. I'm going to work on my combat skills" I said.

Lucas nodded.

"Goodluck" he said.

I gave him a small smile.

"Thanks" I said and then left the palace.

I don't live in the palace but I am there most of the time because of Liana.

I don't stay much in my parent's cabin specially when my stepfather is present.

I normally go back there either late in the evening or before the sun goes down when there are lower chances of meeting Axel.

I don't have anything against him it's just that it's awkward for both of us and we argue a lot when we meet so I try my best to avoid that at all costs.

Liana is the closest to me here but I'm very well acquainted with everyone else around me and I get along with them.

Well, except for Luke.

He's a different case.

But oh well.

I made my way to the training area and sat on the side watching the warriors and guards train.

"Hey, kid" uncle Rainer appeared.

He's the head warrior and my stepfather's close friend.

"Like what you're seeing?" he asked.

I nodded with a chuckle.

"They're good" I said.

"Most likely because they have an outstanding mentor" I added.

Uncle Rainer chuckled as he ruffled my hair.

"Flattery. I love it" he said and we both chuckled.

"You going to train by yourself again?" he asked.

I nodded.

"Why don't you ask your dad?" he said.

I didn't answer immediately.

"I'd rather not ask Axel" I said.

Uncle Rainer didn't talk for a moment.

"I should get going so I can start my training" I said.

Uncle Rainer nodded and gave me a pat on the back.

"Okay, kid. Let me know if you ever need my help" he said.

I nodded and gave him a small smile before walking away.

I went to an area where no one else was so I can start training in private.

I either train on my free time or spend time with Liana or look after my little brother.

During the weekdays, I go to school and after school, I do one from my three choices and nothing more.

I started training in my human form and did a variety of drills I've learned since I was a kid until I moved here.

My dad used to teach me self defense so the boys and the bullies would stay away when he was still alive.

When my dad died, I decided to learn combat skills and my dad's bestfriend taught me everything he knew while I was also inspired by my dad's own moves from when he was alive. Then, when I moved here, I had different mentors from the guards to the warriors to uncle Adrien to the Queen herself.

I applied it all to my daily training.

The light from the sun slowly disappeared as I let myself drift away in training.

Then, I took a rest for a moment.

I suddenly heard rustling from the woods so I immediately stood up in caution.

But then, Luke appeared and it was worse than a stranger attacking me.

He gave me a look but I ignored it and simply gave him a bow.

I took my water bottle and decided to leave since he was there and nothing good ever came up with us being in the same space together.

"Do you still have strength to spar?" he suddenly said so I stopped at my tracks.

"Are you asking me to spar with you...your majesty?" I said and looked at him.

Luke stared straight into my eyes with his usual cold expression as his jaw slightly clenched.

"Yes" he said.

I nodded and put down my water bottle before approaching him.

"In our human form?" I said.

"Well, if we decide to shift midway then let it be" he said.

I nodded and we took oue position.

The adrenaline in my body hasn't left so I was able to match with Luke's pace.

We were able to dodge each other's attack one after another.

We made swift moves here and there.

I was able land the first punch on his stomach and he did not look the least bit happy about it.

Suddenly, he became more aggressive which made me feel alerted.

He managed to land a punch on my core and I stepped back.

We were both already panting because of the tension being built between us but neither of us wanted to stop.

We continued our sparring until one move led to another.

Next thing I know, we both shifted midair into our wolves as we lunged at each other.

Our sparring turned into a fight before I knew it.

I realized midway as Luke growled at me that he has already lost his temper long ago.

This was not good.

Instead of matching Luke's energy of aggressive, I changed into defensive mode.

But Luke's attack kept getting more and more aggressive and I knew I'd need to fight back for this to stop and for me to survive.

Our fight continued on.

We circled each other as we both limped from our injuries.

Still, Luke didn't look like he's had enough.

In his eyes, the only way to end this is when I could no longer fight.

And I won't be able to fight only when I'm dead.

Luke lunged at me again but suddenly he became stuck mid air.

I froze in my spot as he struggled and growled mid air.

Then, Queen Liviana appeared with a frown on her face.

She looked at Luke and then at me.

As soon as our eyes met, I fell to the ground.

End of Flashback...

I woke up in the hospital and had to be confined for days.

Both Luke and I spent a good amount of days in the hospital and we never really talked to each other since then nor did we ever spar again.

The Queen was upset with both of us but mostly with her son because of his lack of control over himself.

That's my image of Luke.

I imagined my mate to be well, he's exact opposite.

I sighed.

"Are you okay?" Liana asked.

I snapped back into reality.

"Uhm yeah. Sorry about that. I just spaced out a little" I apologized.

"Are you not feeling well?" she asked with concern.

I shook my head.

"No, I'm fine" I assured her.

Liana gave me a concerned look but she nodded in understanding.

I glanced at Devon and he raised his brow at me so I looked away.

"Why do you keep avoiding my gaze?"

I snapped my head back to look at Luke as soon as I heard his voice in my head.

Liana looked at us curiously.

"Don't do that" I said feeling uncomfortable.

Luke immediately frowned with what I said.

"You don't talk to me like that" he said with gritted teeth.

I bit my lower lip with a frown and looked away.

"Stop harassing her with your mind link" Liana scolded as shw grabbed a pillow and threw it at her brother.

Luke caught it but shook his head in disbelief.

"I'm sorry about that. Here" Liana said and she placed her hands on both sides of my head.

"Liana!" Luke said with a warning tone but Lia already removed her hand on my head as she glared at her brother.

"Alissa is not well. She was attacked and almost died. Before that, she was away from home for almost 3 years. You don't make her open up to you by asserting your dominance over her. She's your mate. Not your subject" Lia said in a firm tone. They both stood tall in front of each other not wanting to back off.

Lia is younger than both Luke and I but they've both been raised by aunt Livi with the same morals and just like aunt Livi and Luke, Liana will always stand her ground for what she knows is right.

I gulped as I watch the tension between them rise.

The door to my room opened and aunt Livi came in.

"Stop it, both of you" she warned her son and daughter.

"Luke, outside. Now" aunt Livi commanded.

"Mom" Luke refused.

"Luke" aunt Livi said more firmly this time.

Luke sighed and glanced at me then went outside.

I sighed in relief.

"What did you do that made him so upset?" I asked Lia curiously.

"I gave you a temporary block against Luke. He's of royal blood so we can link to you without a problem so I set up a block for you. It's only temporary but it will give you some peace for a while" she said.

I smiled at her.

"Thank you and I'm sorry" I said.

Lia gave me an assuring look.

"It's fine. Just take your time to heal. We'll be patiently waiting for you" she said and gave me a hug.

"I'll step out and let you sleep. You need it" she said.

I nodded.

Aunt Livi and Liana gave me a smile before leaving the room and I laid down.

I stared at the ceiling for a while.

Is everything going to change now that I've found my mate?

I closed my eyes as I gripped on the bed sheet.

"Alissa?"

Griffin.

"Griffin" I replied.

"Oh finally. How are you?"

Griffin was able to mind link with me.

"Fine. How's everyone else?" I asked since I wasn't able to ask aunt Livi, Liana or Denisse.

"They're all good. The injured were quickly healed and are now resting in their homes with their family thanks to your backup"

I sighed in relief.

"You should've at least given us a heads up that your backup were royalties and high profiled wolves"

"Sorry. I had no one else to contact except them. It's a long story and I'd like to explain myself when everyone is present so it would be clear to everyone" I said.

"Okay. Just get better soon because our people would love to hear this one"

I slightly chuckled.

"I'll try my best" I said.

"And Alissa?"

"Yeah?" I replied.

"Don't you ever risk your life like that ever again"

I smiled.

"No promises" I said and cut the link.

I took a deep breath as I went to slumber.

The explaining a talking will have to wait for another time.
