Chapter 26 How Long Do You Want Me To Wait
Francis was feeling dejected because he had set his eyes on Maria to play the role, but she still hadn'tcome over and asked for an audition.
All the while, he had been casting quick glances at her even though there was an auditionee in front ofhim.
When he finally took a break from stressing over the girl, he tried to focus on his job.
Only then did he replace that the actress who was supposed to have begun her performance was stillstanding motionless onstage.
As a director, he thought that maybe she got stage fright.
Francis had been in the entertainment industry for many years. He had already seen, watched, and castlots of actors, so he found it pretty normal for people to feel jittery at times like this.He used to feelimpatient with actors who couldn't perform on cue.
If it was still in the past, he already would have rejected this girl outright and driven her out.
However, he had decided to become a little more accommodating and change his attitude to create anew, amiable image and impress Maria. That way, he could probably encourage her willingness toaudition for Anne.
"It seems you're not ready yet.Anyway, you're still young. You'll have plenty more opportunities in thefuture."
It was the first time that Vivian had heard Francis talk directly to her.He sounded so nice and even hada smile on his face.
There was only one thing that bothered her.Her audition hadn't even started, yet it felt like it wasalready over.
"No...Mr.Jackson, I really—"иσνєℓєвσσк.¢σм
Before Vivian could even plead, she saw Francis shaking his head.
One of the things that years of experience in the field had taught him was that once newbies like hergot stage fright, they would have a hard time getting into the character within an hour, much less a fewminutes.
They would only be wasting both her time and his if they waited for her to get ready.
Now, Francis tried his best to present her with an amiable appearance in case he ended up scaring hisprospective Anne away.
The problem was, the assistant director next to him wasn't so kind.He only glared at Vivian for wastingtheir time.
"You may go." After coldly telling her to leave, he looked at the staff by the door.
"Call in the next one!"
Of course, Vivian's face flushed with embarrassment.
She knew this man had a high position in Yeez Entertainment, but he had also been working as anexecutive assistant director for Francis for several years.
They were a highly distinguished pair in the industry.
Because of this, Vivian didn't dare to offend him.She left rather woodenly with tears about to fall fromher eyes.
The other actors who had seen her were so surprised that Vivian had stage fright.
However, Sally was even more dumbfounded and could only look at her in disbelief.
"That's okay, Vivian.
Maybe next time, right? I'm sure you'll get another chance."
Deep in her heart, Sally actually struggled to keep herself from laughing out.She might have tried tocomfort Vivian by saying she could try again next time, but that was a rose-colored belief.
After all, the show business was cruel.
If an actor experienced stage fright in merely an audition, news would travel and their futureopportunities would likely be limited.
"What's Maria even doing here? Ugh! She distracted me by standing there. Now, I won't get the part!"
After leaving the audition studio, Vivian couldn't help but mutter under her breath while she headed tothe dressing room to remove her makeup and change her clothes. She nursed deep hatred for Maria bythe second.
Bill was waiting at home for some good news from her audition.
After what happened, how would she be able to face her parents? Meanwhile, at the audition studio, hundreds of hopefuls had finished their auditions one after another.
It had been a tedious morning, so they took a half-time break.
Francis looked behind him and saw that the man with a baseball cap was whispering to Maria, whoonly responded from time to time.
"He looks familiar," Francis murmured.
Even so, he still couldn't quite place him.
As he watched the girl, he found that she was looking at the door more and more frequently.Hereckoned she could be leaving soon, so Francis started panicking.
"I can't let her go without seeing her audition!" Francis faked a dry cough and finally put down his air,and then he took the initiative to approach them.
"Hey, Mr.Jackson! What a morning, huh?" When he came over, Lyndsey greeted him with a smile and aplayful wink.
"Lyndsey?"
The director was clearly stunned. He didn't expect that the handsome young man under the cap wasactually Lyndsey.
However, his mind was a mess, and he couldn't care much about the fact.He came to them forsomething else, so he had to focus on that.
Right now, it didn't matter to him so much that Lyndsey was already an excellent award-winningactress.
He had even seen hundreds of candidates try for the role today, but none of them could compare tothis girl standing next to Lyndsey.
She was the perfect female lead for the show! Francis couldn't help but stare at her intently.
"Well, Miss..."
Standing in front of Maria, Francis looked a little perturbed.
After furtively heaving a sigh, he let out an ingratiating smile before finally speaking his mind.
"How long will I have to wait?"
