Chapter 28

Chapter 28 She Is Mia

"Mr.Jackson...She is not wearing any shoes. What's going on?"

Coincidentally, the chief costume designer was also at the scene. So, when Maria came out without anyshoes on, he complained in a low voice.

Although he was a man, he was also good at women’s fashion.

In fact, he was one of the best in this field. But his credentials didn't matter to Francis.

Upon hearing the designer complain, he slapped him on the back of his head.

"Can't you see? She didn't have to wear a pair.Everything you designed wasn't necessary for thisparticular scene! Now, move along. We have urgent business to do!"

Completely ignoring the costume designer, Francis yelled, "Is the script holder here? Record this rightaway! During the birthday banquet scene where the heroine dances, she will do it with bare feet.I wanta close- up shot, understand? From long shot to close-up!"

While doing the graceful choreography, Maria amazed everyone.

But to her, this didn't mean anything. She was just doing what she thought was necessary.

After the scene, like an emotionless robot, she quickly returned to the dressing room and came back tothe studio, wearing another set of costumes just as Francis instructed earlier.

Every time Maria went out with a different set of costumes, everyone was mesmerized. They couldn'tfathom how she was effortlessly bringing Anne's character to life. However, after a while, she suddenly

felt a little sleepy. It was an indication that her narcolepsy was about to attack again.Maria thought thatshe had already given Francis enough pointers, so her job here was done.

Before something unexpected happened again, it would be better if she could get out of there.

This disease was most probably caused by a trauma she experienced as a child.

It could be a kind of defense mechanism that her body was exhibiting.

After all, sleeping was also a way of protecting oneself.

In some dangerous situations, falling into a coma or losing consciousness was kind of a last resort forthe body not to feel pain.

Maria couldn't fully remember what exactly caused her condition because for as long as she couldremember, she already suffered from this disease.

Hence, she guessed that the traumatic incident might have happened even before her first birthday.

Therefore, all throughout her life, her narcolepsy brought so many inconveniences.

When she lived in the countryside, her relatives who knew of her condition thought that taking care ofher was very troublesome.

After living with her for some time, they would try to replace an excuse to give her away to their otherrelatives.

Maria grew tired of this living situation, so when she reached a certain age, thinking that she couldalready live on her own, she did it without any hesitation.

Meanwhile, Maria had finished changing back into her jeans and white shirt.

After coming out of the dressing room, she went to see Francis.

"I have other appointments, so I have to go now."

Hearing this, Francis couldn't stop furrowing his brows in confusion.

"You're leaving? What's so important that you have to cut your audition short? At least sign the contractfirst before you leave!"

Although Francis was so sure that Maria was the one he wanted to act in the main heroine's role, hesomewhat found her rather strange.

Sign a contract? These words obviously made Maria confused.

At this point, Lyndsey, who was just standing aside, confirmed what was happening. She already had ahunch earlier, but now she was sure.It was partly her fault that this misunderstanding had come this far.

"Um...I'm actually not an actress," Maria replied.

It seemed that she was also starting to realize what really was going on.

On the other hand, Francis smiled complacently.

"Yes, I know.I have good eyes, so I can see that you didn't study in the film academy or had any formalacting training.Am I right?"

Maria nodded lightly.

"Well, it doesn't matter!"

Francis patted his chest, letting out a very confident grin.

"Not to brag, but I'm the director you would want to mold you.I will teach you everything you need toknow about acting!"

"Ahem!"

Lyndsey wanted to butt in, in order to clear up this misunderstanding.

However, before she could speak, Francis glanced at her and said, "Lyndsey, how about you act thesupporting role?"

With his eyes gleaming like a child, he didn't even hesitate to ask Lyndsey, the Best Actress winner ofYeez Entertainment, to play a supporting role.

Only Francis, the chief director, could make such an unreasonable request and not mind it.

Of course, Lyndsey wasn't offended at all.

In fact, she would be glad if the director could really convince Maria to play the leading role.

When Maria had totally figured out what was going on, she had to stop it at once.

"Mr.Jackson, you misunderstood something.I'm not here to audition.I am Mia, the author of the Legendof Anne.I just thought that you wanted some input from me, so I helped you try out thecostumes.Anyway, I really have something else to do.Please excuse me."

Her eyes were getting so heavy that she was in an urgent need of a bed to have a good sleep.

Fortunately, Jade Hotel was just around the corner, and she thought that it would be a good choice totake a rest.

Without waiting for Francis’ reply, Maria left the studio in a hurry.Francis was left standing there utterlyconfused, while Lyndsey seemed to be quite disappointed.

"Lyndsey, did I hear it correctly? Did she just say that she's actually Mia?"

Francis even doubted that he was getting so old that he might be having some auditory hallucinations.

The author of the Legend of Anne? That Mia?! The novels and short stories written by Mia were allmasterpieces that Francis loved so much.

He never thought that those ingenious languages, astonishing plots, and brilliant foreshadowing werewritten by someone who was basically a teenager.

How could it be possible? He thought that it was just a prank.

But then Lyndsey finally broke the silence.

"Mr.Jackson, about your offer earlier, I'm willing to take the supporting role if you can really convinceMia to act Anne's character.Good luck!"

Lyndsey revealed a playful smile, but her tone was indeed serious.

After saying that, she also left the studio quickly.

Eventually, after being in a daze for quite some time, Francis came to his senses.

As if in a panic, he dialed the number of the president of Yeez Entertainment, Jeremy.

"Jeremy! I mean...Mr.Bradley."

Francis was actually more than ten years older than Jeremy.

So, in private, he was addressing the CEO by his given name.

Without further ado, he said, "! will direct the Legend of Anne for free if you can do your best topersuade Mia herself to be the heroine. What do you say? It's a good deal!"

After saying what he wanted, Francis heard a deep sigh on the other end of the line.

"Francis, just call me Jeremy. That's what you always did."

"Okay...I will.But what's your answer?"

"Well, give up on this unrealistic idea.It will never happen."

Then, Jeremy hung up the phone, not giving Francis a chance to negotiate further.
