Chapter 49

Chapter 49 Forgot The Lines

Maria had already filled both plates with a combination of meat and vegetables which looked absolutelyappetizing.

"I'm here with Anthony," she said to Vivian.

"If you don't believe me, you can come with me to meet him. After all, he'll soon be your brother-in-law."

"Anthony?" Vivian echoed softly.

She had come here to belittle Maria, but instead seemed to have fallen into a trap. She had never metAnthony in person before, neither did she want to! She was still riding high after being the lead actressof Yeez Entertainment's new web series.

And now, with Patricia's help, she had clinched a role in the company's new show -- Legend ofAnne. She even seemed to be best friends with Lyndsey now.In her view, her career was about tosoar. She would be a fool to meet her ex- fiance now.

No! Anthony was just a random man to her.She had never been engaged to anyone.

As far as the fans and media knew, she had never been in a relationship with anyone! "No, thanks.Ihave something else to do.Goodbye."

After mumbling that in a hurry, Vivian raced away as if she was afraid to be even seen with Maria.

Maria shrugged, returned to Suite 3601, and set the plate down in front of Anthony.

"I didn't know what you like to eat, so I just randomly picked some dishes."

Maria's voice was soft, but it was hard to pinpoint whether it was indifferent for gentle.

"In Jack's eyes, her voice was soft and pleasing, which went well with his boss's deep and mellowvoice.

"Thank you," Anthony said politely, and then the two of them began to eat.

For the next few minutes, the presidential suite was completely quiet except for the occasional sound ofknives and forks scraping against the plates.

Standing aside, Jack watched the couple having dinner in muted wonder. He felt like he was looking atan oil painting that had come to life, bringing an inexplicable sense of peace to his mind.

Even he was shocked that a mundane sight like two people eating together could evoke such anemotion in him.

After all, he was the kind of man who wouldn't set foot in a gallery even if someone paid him to.Hecouldn't believe he was actually admiring the silent scene.

Anthony and Maria finished dinner just as the banquet was about to begin.

"Let's go," Anthony said, wiping his mouth with a napkin.

"Okay."

Maria stood up and walked over to the back of his wheelchair.

Holding the handles, she pushed him out of the suite and towards the banquet hall.

Still rooted to his spot, Jack once again felt the whole thing bizarre.

While other guests were all busy socializing with one another, Anthony and Maria actually had a lovelydinner! nt "Seems like only Mr.Wilson and Miss Jenkins respected the hard work of the : hotel cheftonight,"

Jack muttered to himself.

At this time, Vivian was standing in another side of the banquet hall, starting {to feel nervous.

The banquet was officially underway.

There was a piano solo performance on the stage now.

Once that was finished, it would be her turn to sing.

A few of the guests were looking at the stage and enjoying the music, but most of them were busymaking new friends.

Vivian glanced around and, to her delight, found Lyndsey standing not far away. She could barelyconceal her excitement as she waved at her.

Unfortunately, Lyndsey didn't seem to notice her at all.

Despite that, Vivian wasn't fazed; she still felt that she had become close with Lyndsey now.

Vivian's gaze swept over the rest of the banquet hall and inadvertently fell on the entrance, where shesaw Maria pushing a wheelchair in.

There was a man sitting in the wheelchair, but the light at the entrance was rather dim that Viviancouldn't see his face clear.

But even though the man was seated, his tall figure and domineering aura couldn't be hidden.

Vivian knew at once that this man must be Anthony.

Even at first glance, he seemed somewhat...extraordinary.

No, no, no.

This was ridiculous! A disinherited heir with broken legs didn't deserve her attention at all.

She didn't want to have to push him around in a wheelchair everywhere they went.

Thinking of this, Vivian smiled again.

She felt as if she could already see their entirely different fates side by side: the latter half of Maria's lifewould be miserable taking care of a cripple, while she, Vivian, would be enjoying fame and glory, holding a prized trophy under the spotlight.

Soon, the piano performance ended, punctuated with scattered applause from the audience.

Taking a deep breath, Vivian walked onto the stage and stood in front of the microphone.

The music began.

The stage overlooked the rest of the banquet hall.

As Maria continued to push Anthony into the banquet hall, the latter's face was gradually illuminated bythe light.

As the beautiful prelude of the song played in the background, Vivian finally saw Anthony's face clearly.

The extent of how handsome his facial features were could not be described in words.

At the same time, Vivian noticed the masters and heirs of rich and powerful families, top-class stars, and famous directors all gathering around Maria and Anthony.

What were they doing? Why were they all looking at Anthony instead of her? Vivian was stunned, butshe didn't have any time to think about it.

Her mouth opened subconsciously in sync with the music, but she found that she had forgotten thelines.os I
