I had a rough idea about her financial status, actually.

Grant Corporation had always been generous with their talents. Her current annual income would atleast be seven figures.

"I can give you one million dollars.” Elena looked even more complacent now. "You can totally makefull payment for a three-bedroom house in Hommiton City."

Did this woman have some sort of misunderstanding toward Hommiton City?

I cast my gaze down and smiled slightly. "A million is a lot. With this bit of salary that I'm getting, Iwould have to save up for a long time."

"Of course."

Elena looked smugly at me, looking especially like a peacock that was showing off its beautifulfeathers.

In fact, it was normal for her to look down o n me. After all, my outfit did not add up to more than500 dollars, which was comparatively shabby compared to her branded outfit.

"Think about it."

Elena crossed her arms. “You don't love Theo anyway, so you might as well give him to me and I’llalso give you some money to live the life you want."

I smiled slightly. "It does sound pretty tempting.”

After a pause, I asked her with a smile," How do you know that he'll most certainly choose you if Iback out?"

"He will choose me."

Elena said as a matter of factly, "There's no woman more suitable than me for him. Only I amworthy of him.

"Besides, I’m confident that he'll fall in love with me. If we have a child of our own, then he’llnaturally forget about you and put all his attention on the child. There’s nothing more important thanlong-lasting companionship, don't you agree?"

I could not help but laugh. "Ms. Mandez, it's good to feel confident, but being overconfident makesyou seem conceited. I wonder if you've ever been in touch with the circle of socialites in WhaldorfCity? Because if you have, then you would've never said those words. There are plenty of womenwho look better, are more capable, and more suitable than you for Theo. Most importantly, they allcome from superior families and can bring him huge benefits i n the business world. They're farmore superior than you."

Seeing Elena’s countenance sink, I continued without mercy, "The socialites i n Whaldorf Cityreceived a far better education than you. The talent you're so proud of is nothing to them. As for thework ability that you're always boasting about, I believe Theo will choose a woman with much betterfamily background and working capabilities for the sake of interest if he were to remarry. If Theo iswilling to spend a lot of money, then he'll b e able to get a lot of things, don't you think?" 'You!" Elenawas exasperated.

She retorted after a long time, "I can't compare to the socialites but neither can you. If he couldmarry an orphan like you back then, why can’t he marry me?"

I smiled slightly. "That’s a misconception, Ms. Mandez. You think that at this age, a man like Theodoesn’t care about love anymore and what’s most important for him is to have a wife who can givehim a child, who can manage the house, and not cause him trouble for him outside of work, right?”

Elena narrowed her eyes. "Isn’t it?"

"Of course not.”

I looked at her with a mocking gaze. "When two people have dated long enough, their relationshipwill gradually vanish in the mundanity of daily life. The two people who once loved each other willstart growing sick of each other, so it's better to marry someone who’s compatible with one’spersonality-like a virtuous wife and mother. But remember, Theo never needs t o worry about hisdaily life because he can solve all problems in this world that can be solved with money. Therefore,a man like him wants love more than ordinary people. He wants a woman who can ignite hispassion and vitality."

Elena chuckled. "Why are you telling me these things, Wanda Lane? You don't want t o be with himanymore, no? I think you're just lying to yourself and want to play hard to get so he'll want youmore.”

I laughed. "You think too much. If you like him, then I don't mind if you want to pursue him. I'm onlytelling you this because I don't want you to blame me when you can't win his heart. I'll think aboutthe one million offer you mentioned earlier. After all, I'm a little short of money recently."
