The Woman From Hell
Chapter 2654

Seeing me silent and deep in thought, Shannon leaned over as if she had read my thoughts. "What's wrong? Do you feel sorry for Marius?"

I did not deny that. "His liking me is more of a heavy burden on me. I can't give him an answer, yet I'm still reaping the benefits he brings me. That's unfair to him."

Shannon nodded in understanding when she heard that. Then, her eyes lit up as if she had thought of something. "Have you ever heard that the fastest way to forget someone in the shortest time is to get them to fall for someone else?" "You mean to say..."

"Let's help Marius replace a girlfriend." Shannon snapped her fingers. She then fished out her phone. "I know someone who has a lot of resources for us to reference."

I leaned over and looked at the caller ID she pulled up. "The matchmaker? Why would you save a number like that?"

"I saved it back when I had trouble looking for someone and didn't want to get nagged. I never deleted it. Who would've thought that it'd come in handy today," Shannon said, amused. "She said she'll send us a few ladies' information later." It was a pretty good idea, but it somehow felt off to me.

I looked at Shannon, a little hesitant. "Is it right for us to do this? Will Marius get angry?"

"What's not good about it? If he falls for someone, the better. Even if he doesn't end up hitting it off with them, it's fine that they become friends too, no?"

She was right.

Biting my lower lip, I replied, "But won't it be a little disrespectful for us to do this without his consent?"

"Oh, it's just a date over dinner. It's nothing. Look, she's pretty cute, no?" Shannon pointed to a profile photo on her screen.

"She's fine, but she doesn't seem to suit Marius."

"True. Next one. You know him better. What kind of girl do you think he likes?" Shannon asked while swiping the screen. "Let me think."

Before I could think of something, Shannon's voice sounded again. "Oh, a girl like you. Seriously, why did I even ask you?"

I glanced at her. "But his ex-girlfriend isn't like me. He probably doesn't have a type."

I still remembered Marius' ex-girlfriend. Wanya looked like a soft and pure girl.

"It doesn't matter. Anyway, who he likes now is you. We just have to look for someone like you. That's it."

Shannon handed the phone over.

The woman in the photo looked very charming. She gave off the vibe of a capable woman. I tilted my head. "I don't think Marius will like her."

"That's how you are. You have a few years over him too. He probably has a bit of a sister complex. Whatever.

We'l choose her. Go lure Marius out

white I reach out to her."

"But this doesn't seem..."

"Trust me. We'll decide on the evening the day after tomorrow." "Alright then."

I chose to compromise in the end. Shannon was not wrong, actually. It was just a simple meal. If they hit it off, great. If not, they could stiff become friends. It would probably be fine.

Settling on this thought, I sent Marius a text. I asked him out to dinner the evening after tomorrow, and in practically a second, he sent me a cute 'OK' sticker. "Done. What about your side?"

"Yes, all done."

Seeing the bright expression on Shannon's face, I somehow just felt guilty...
