Mila sneered. "Are you truly clueless or are you just pretending?"

“I'm completely clueless,” Nathan replied.

"I excel in professional knowledge and skills, but I lack experience in schemes, tricks, and tactics. I'mno match for anyone in that regard,” Mila explained.

Nathan was lost. He gently turned her toward him, held her face in his hands, and looked into her eyes."No one can defeat you when I'm by your side."

Mila pushed Nathan's hand away, stepped back, and said angrily, “I'm sorry, you're the reason Fennajust defeated me."

Confusion and helplessness clouded Nathan's face.

Mila grew even more irritated when she realized he didn't understand her frustration. She poundedNathan's chest and warned, “I won't forgive you if anything happens to our baby because of you.Prepare yourself for a divorce."

With that, Mila turned away and walked off.

The mention of divorce hit Nathan hard, and his heart sank. He quickly grabbed his coat and hurriedafter her. When Nathan caught up, Mila was already getting into the car driven by Phoebe. Phoebeclosed the door and assured, "General Morrison, don't worry, I'll safely take Mila back to the base."

“I'm coming, too," Nathan said, opening the car door and getting in.

Phoebe smiled helplessly and got in as well. Mila turned away from Nathan and gazed silently out thewindow. The car continued down the street, with Mila remaining silent for the entire journey. Nathan

didn't know how to cheer Mila up. He tried to hold her hand, but she pulled away and put it in herpocket. He felt dejected.

During the plane ride and after they got back to the military base, Mila didn't speak a word to Nathan.

When they arrived, they went their separate ways to their dorms. That night, Mila's phone kept buzzingwith messages and calls, but she ignored them and turned her phone off.

The next morning, Mila woke up early to get ready. She was determined to push aside her emotionsand focus on her work.

When she got to the research department office, her colleagues bombarded her with questions.

"Hey, Wanda, did you tie the knot?" one professor asked excitedly.

Mila looked at everyone in astonishment. "How did you all replace out?"

"The news spread like wildfire in the research department,” Joe said with a grin.

“Yeah, where's your mystery spouse from?"

"Are you getting hitched because there's a bun in the oven?"

"What does your husband do for a living?"

Mila put on an awkward smile, unsure how to deal with the eager questions from her colleagues.

Suddenly, a heavy file crashed onto her desk, making everyone recoil in surprise. Mila was startled, herstomach knotting with anxiety as she glanced nervously at Jacob, who had appeared out of nowhere.The professors glared disapprovingly at him.

"Mr. Lyons, that was rather thoughtless. Wanda's pregnant and you might startle the baby. You shouldbe more careful,” Joe grumbled.

Jacob smirked and turned to Mila, “If you're pregnant, take your maternity leave early and stay home.Do you think the research department is your personal space? You can't just come and go as youplease. And where have you been all week?"

Struggling to contain her anger, Mila took a deep breath before she answered, “I went home and gotmarried."

"Did you even request marriage leave?" Jacob demanded angrily.

Mila looked around at her colleagues, who offered sympathetic looks but couldn't offer much help.
