To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny)
Chapter 1059 You Shouldn't Overthink

Alec didn't argue with her because he had arrived at an answer. Perhaps, growing up in different environments led to a divergent mindset between them. With her carefree attitude, she could live a good life without him.

But things were different for him. Had he not met Jenny, he'd still be muddling through life. Therefore, he'd do the best for her and was willing to live for her sake.

"Go to sleep. It's late." She checked the time and realized that morning was near.

He nodded. Even though he wasn't sleepy, he'd be a jerk to mess up Jenny's sleep schedule, given how she had been looking after her.

Silence enshrouded the room as they said nothing more. Only steady breathing sounds were heard in the air.

Jenny didn't return to Evan's villa that night, and he lost sleep over that. When morning arrived, Jenny called to inform him that she would not return for a while. She didn't give a reason, but she was sure he understood. He said nothing else, only reminding her to take care of herself.

Somehow, she felt sorry after hanging up. She knew that Evan needed someone to look after him, and she moved in for that exact reason. Now, she had to set Evan aside because she needed to take care of Alec, and she felt bad.

Alec read her mind and said, "What Dr. Gaarder said yesterday..."

"I get what you mean. But I trust Evan. He isn't the type to pull off such a joke," she cut him off.

He felt defeated but shut up after that.

...

One day, when Jenny was still taking care of Alec in the hospital, Evan was looking dispirited at home. Howard felt bad for him and suggested, "Boss, do you want me to bring a few men and get rid of that Faust dude?" The idea had always been brewing in Howard's mind, but Evan had always asked him to hold back.

"Don't," Evan rejected the idea again. "Alec Faust is no longer an ordinary citizen. First, there's the question of our capability to take him down. If we failed, we'd give him something to use against us." "But we can't sit and watch!" Howard felt a little angry on behalf of Evan. He had thought that Jenny would leave Alec after she moved in to take care of Evan. He was aghast to see the thick-skinned Alec following her all the way, and the two grew even closer than before.

Evan rubbed his forehead as he felt troubled. "Call Jenny and tell her I don't feel well. Say it's a migraine."

Howard was taken aback, but he immediately understood the task even though it upset him a little. Since when did his boss have to resort to such a trick to attract the attention of the opposite gender? Women would be lining up for Evan, but why did he only have eyes for Jenny?

"Got it." No matter how Howard felt about the situation, he could only swallow it and take the orders.

Jenny had just finished her lunch with Alec when she received a call from Howard. She immediately prepared to leave when she learned that Evan wasn't feeling well. However, Alec was reluctant to see her leave in haste and grumbled, "He was all fine when I was healthy. But why does he suddenly feel sick after I'm hospitalized?"

"Alec, I don't want to ever hear that." Alec didn't lay everything out, but she could tell what he was getting at.

He unhappily pursed his lips. "It's too coincidental."

"That's what his injuries are like. He could fall sick at any moment. It has nothing to do with timing." Then, she got ready to leave. At the door, she reminded him, "Just focus on getting well. Don't think too much."
