To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny)
Chapter 1064 Who's the Father?

"That's possible too." Jenny didn't write off Marigold's guess. Still, when she noted the exhaustion on Marigold's face, she advised, "You're pregnant now. Just rest well and do not overthink." "I know, but I can't stop myself." Marigold smiled bitterly. She wouldn't have suffered if she could get a grip on herself. She had to overcome the mental barrier on her own.

Even Jenny, the doctor, could not offer much help. "I'll prescribe some pills that won't affect your pregnancy," she said.

"Thank you," Marigold expressed her gratitude.

Jenny glanced at her and commented, "You've changed a lot." She remembered Marigold's character vividly in the past. Now, Marigold seemed to have shed her signature smugness. Marigold was taken aback by the sudden remark, but soon, she broke into a smile. "Well, we'll all grow up someday."

Jenny had no idea what Marigold went through, and the woman had no way to give Jenny the detail. While prescribing the medicine, Jenny casually asked, "Who's the father? Is he the rich guy you had dinner with from the last time?"

It was a mindless question, but Marigold reacted sourly. "No. He's not."

"Oh." Jenny didn't think too much about the reaction and added absentmindedly, "When's the marriage?"

When Marigold replied with silence, Jenny finally realized the complexity of the situation. "Your child..."

"Dr. Walter, stop with the questions. Just give me the pills." Marigold wanted to reveal the details behind the pregnancy, but she knew the father would likely want an abortion.

Jenny sighed. She was in the dark about Marigold's situation, but she could tell that there were a lot of heavy secrets behind the pregnancy. At that point, Jenny had no idea that she was connected to Marigold's pregnancy in a way.

After receiving the prescription, Marigold left in a hurry. Jenny watched and prayed that the headache was not symptomatic of something major. Soon, the next patient entered the room, and Jenny was thrown into the hectic work, leaving the thoughts of Marigold behind.

At the hospital entrance, Marigold sat by the flower bed and took the prescribed pills with mineral water. Then, she spent a long time by the flower bed until her headache subsided. She stood up to leave.

A black sedan pulled up beside her when she arrived on the street to hail a cab. Paul emerged from the car with an ashen face. His eyes flamed in anger when he spotted her baby bump. "Paul..." Marigold, feeling afraid, did not go up to him.

He stared at her coldly and confronted her, "No wonder you didn't come home. You're pregnant. Who's the father?" He tried his best to control his temper, but that proved challenging when he was met with her silence.

"Paul, can you stop asking questions? The child's mine." The headache came back again, this time worse than before.

Paul, seized by fury, grabbed her collar. "Marigold Wagner, think carefully before you answer!"

"The child's mine," she insisted while fully knowing the consequences of her non-answer. If Paul learned about the child's father, he would not let her enjoy another peaceful day in her life. Moreover, the last thing she wanted was for Paul to go up against the man.

"If you refuse to tell me, you can't keep the baby." Paul was adamant. The Wagners would not accept a bastard child from nowhere. Then, he dragged her into the hospital, looking determined to get her an abortion on the same day.
