To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny)
Chapter 1067 Gilbert's Child

When Jenny met Paul, he had already ordered a cup of coffee for himself, as if he was confident she would come.

"Okay, what's the matter?" Jenny sat down across from him. Not in the mood to talk, she was eagerly waiting for their conversation to end so she could return to lunch.

Paul glanced at her. He wasn't put off by her attitude. After all, the two of them had always been like that, as they couldn't stand each other. After taking a sip of coffee, he asked, "Did you know that Marigold is pregnant?"

Jenny was taken aback. "I do."

"You knew?" Paul frowned.

"Well, when she visited me in the morning, she told me she had a headache. However, she refused a brain CT scan because she was pregnant, so I prescribed some painkillers for her." Jenny didn't think she had any reason to hide it from Paul.

The revelation shocked Paul, and it took him a while to recover.

"That idiot!" he thought. She did that for her child? A child that its father wouldn't accept. Paul couldn't understand why she planned to see the pregnancy to completion.

When he remained silent, Jenny asked, "Why did you look for me? If it's about Marigold, then it has nothing to do with me. You can solve your family matters by yourself."

"It has nothing to do with you?" Paul was angry when he heard that.

Jenny could sense he was mad though she couldn't tell why. "Of course not? Why would it have anything to do with me?"

Paul snorted and fixed his cold gaze on her, "Do you know whose child she's carrying?"

"Well, I asked her, but she didn't tell me. In any case, it can't be mine." Jenny couldn't figure out why Paul was telling her all that, nor did she care. She wasn't interested in whatever went on in Marigold's life, le alone the child in her womb.

Paul gave her a hard look and asked, "Who do you think the father is?"

Jenny was about to get angry and tell him she didn't know. However, due to the look in his eyes, an idea formed in her head. However, she quickly denied the possibility.

Paul noticed the change in her expression, and before Jenny could answer, he said, "It seems that you already have the answer."

Jenny opened her mouth to speak but couldn't form any words.

"To be honest, I was shocked when I found out," Paul continued. "For one, I'm shocked that Gilbert can do such a thing. I'm also shocked that there are such stupid people in my family! First, she allowed Gilbert to take advantage of her, and now that she's pregnant with his child, she plans to give birth and raise it by herself. How stupid can she be!"

It took a while for Jenny to recover from the shock. "You're saying that Gilbert is the child's father?"

"Marigold likes your elder brother. It's not like you don't know that."

As Marigold had pestered Gilbert and troubled Jenny several times, Paul had sent her abroad. Never had Paul expected that Marigold would go looking for Gilbert who happened to be abroad.

Paul didn't know what transpired between them both when they were abroad nor did he bother to investigate. It was not important to him. What was important was that Gilbert was the child's father, and hence had to take responsibility for his actions.

As a daughter of the Wagners, she wasn't required to continue the family's bloodline. However, she wasn't allowed to conceive out of wedlock. It would turn the Wagners into a laughingstock.

Therefore, regardless of what Marigold wanted, he would make Gilbert responsible for his actions.
