To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny)
Chapter 1098 Do You Think She Didn’t Notice?

The result was obvious. Jenny didn't see any guilt on Evan's face. Instead, she saw happiness. "Jenny, thank you," he said.

Jenny looked at him, feeling somewhat unfamiliar. "Evan, you don't need to thank me. You got injured because of me. Even if that wasn't the case, I wouldn't just sit back and do nothing. You've been so good to me and never lied to me. How could I not agree to this, right, Evan?"

Jenny was testing him. Evan's expression faltered visibly, as if he had sensed something amiss but wasn't sure of it. "Of course, how could I lie to you?" he replied.

"Really? You didn't lie to me at all?" Jenny scoffed internally and couldn't help but smile bitterly. At that moment, she would rather follow Evan abroad willingly than believe he'd been deceiving her all along. Howard came back with breakfast shortly after. He didn't know what the two had talked about, but Evan instructed him, "Go get prepared."

"Prepare for what?" He was a little confused.

"For going abroad," Jenny answered him.

Howard was stunned again as he wondered, "What? I thought Jenny hadn't agreed yet when I went out. What did they talk about when I wasn't here?"

Seeing him still standing there, Evan became a little impatient. "What are you still doing here?"

"Oh, okay. I'll go prepare," Howard said happily. He smiled so broadly that his happiness was about to spill out from the corner of his eyes.

Jenny used to think that Howard was happy because Evan might have a chance to be cured, but now she couldn't help but wonder why he was so happy about going abroad. He didn't seem to be very worried about Evan's injury.

After Howard left, Evan turned to Jenny again. "Eat, Jenny. Don't starve yourself."

Jenny nodded and picked up a cup of fresh milk, but she'd lost her appetite. On the one hand, she'd already eaten at Alec's place; on the other, she had a lot on her mind and didn't feel like eating.

"Is the food not to your liking?" Evan asked, noticing she wasn't eating much and feeling a little worried.

"It's not that. I'm just thinking about how to tell my brother and the others about going abroad. I'm not quite sure what to do about it," Jenny replied.

Evan understood immediately. Not only Jenny, but he was also worried. Gilbert and Zack would definitely not agree to let her leave with him. He was worried that they might hold her back and not let her leave. "Will they stop you from coming with me?" he asked.

"Don't worry. I'll convince them. It'll just take some time," Jenny replied.

She still needed time to investigate, so she couldn't leave in the next few days. She could only use Gilbert and Zack as an excuse.

"I understand," Evan said. He was relieved that Jenny wasn't giving up on him.

The two of them chatted for a while, then Jenny got up and left. She still had work, so Evan didn't stop her. After she left, the smile on Evan's face vanished instantly as he called Howard in.

"Boss, I'm busy making preparations for going abroad." Howard was puzzled as to why Evan summoned him. Was there anything more important than that right now?

Evan's face was humorless as he fixed his eyes on him. Howard felt a chill on his back and dared not joke around. "Boss, is there something wrong?"

"Just now, did Jenny grab your arm that was injured?" Evan asked.

Howard nodded and couldn't help but complain, "It hurt like hell. Fortunately, I could endure it; otherwise, I would have cried out just now."

"Do you think she didn't notice?" Evan snorted. With Jenny's observational skills, she could definitely sense that something was wrong with Howard. Howard was surprised and asked, "Boss, what do you mean by this?"
