To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny)
Chapter 1375 Gilbert and Marigold (50)

Marigold had quite a good sleep at Gilbert's villa that night. She was not affected by what happened the night before.

When she got downstairs after she woke up, Gilbert was already sitting in the living room. When he saw her coming down the stairs, he got up and came to her. "Are you feeling unwell anywhere?" "No." Marigold shook her head. She felt there was no need to make a fuss when her injury was so minor.

Upon hearing that, Gilbert didn't ask anymore. He asked the maid to have breakfast served. "Let's have breakfast."

"Alright." It was after Marigold sat down that she realized the breakfast that day was a little different from what they usually had. It was practically foods that were rich in iron. She was a little helpless. She looked up at Gilbert and said, "There's no need to go over the top when it's only a minor injury."

"So what if it's a minor injury? You were bleeding." In his opinion, since she did lose some blood, she needed more iron to replenish. Besides, it was because Marigold tried to save him that she got injured. Marigold couldn't replace a way to refute his argument. "Oh, alright." She didn't say anything else, just buried herself in her breakfast.

Seeing that she was eating breakfast so obediently, Gilbert felt the itch to ask, "Why did you jump in front of a bullet for me yesterday? Are you really not afraid of death?"

He had already asked this question yesterday. However, he still could not help but ask her again.

"I was afraid. Everybody is afraid of death." She wasn't that mighty, so of course, she was also afraid of death. "I didn't think too much about it at that time."

She was afraid to die, but she didn't want to see anything happen to Gilbert. Therefore, she reacted instinctively at that time.

Gilbert was touched as he looked at her. No matter how slow he was to warm up to a person, he could tell that he was a little in love with Marigold at that moment.

He had never expected that he would actually fall in love with a person he once hated so much. It was really too strange. Could it be that he was the kind who would develop feelings for a person over time?

There was a moment of silence before the man said slowly, "Don't be so silly next time. Think of Caleb. What would he do if something happened to you?"

"He would lose his father too if something happened to you, wouldn't he?" Marigold felt that both she and Gilbert should not let anything happen to them.

Gilbert laughed a little. He did not refute her. "You are right, so we both have to protect ourselves."

Right at that moment, the nanny came in. "Mr. Hawthorn, a lady named Esther Bradshaw is here for you."

"Mmhmm. Let her in." Gilbert was not surprised at all that Esther would come over. He had already messaged her last night, saying he wanted to return to the Bradshaw family. It was only natural that she would personally visit him to get confirmation.

The nanny turned around and left. Marigold, however, was stunned. "Why...is she here looking for you? Could it be that she wants to talk you into returning to the Bradshaw family again?" Before Gilbert said anything, the nanny had already brought Esther into the living room. Gilbert could only smile at Marigold without answering her question.

"Is what you said in the message yesterday true?" Esther went straight to the point with Gilbert, not beating around the bush.

Marigold was sitting at the side, but she was completely ignored by Esther.

While having breakfast, Gilbert said slowly, "Of course, it's true."

Esther's eyes lit up. It was simply because she wanted to confirm this that she rushed over so early in the morning. "You're really willing to follow me back to the Bradshaw family?"

"Isn't this what you've always wanted? Why are you not believing it anymore when I did what you wanted?" Gilbert felt that she was ridiculous as it showed that she was lacking in confidence in herself. Esther gazed at Gilbert as she tried to read him. It seemed like she was trying to see through him.

However, Gilbert was no longer a teenager. Esther had been in the field of business for a very long time, but she still could not see through him. She did not have confidence because of that, and she was a little worried for some reason.
