To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny) -
Chapter 1395 Gilbert and Marigold (70)
Gilbert drove to Jenny's villa, but he was in no rush to get down. He didn't unlock the doors, either. He obviously wanted to talk to Marigold.
But Marigold evidently didn't want to. "I want to take my child and leave."
She was afraid. What if Gilbert and Lottie married and took her child away?
She no longer believed in love. The only thing she believed in was her child.
Gilbert tightened his grip when he heard that. "Marigold, the engagement is only for Esther to see. I have no feelings for Lottie."
"Who knows? People change. You said you didn't have feelings for me, too." Marigold found this all very amusing. Perhaps this was fate.
Gilbert wanted to keep explaining, but Marigold did not give him the chance to. "Just let me and Caleb leave. If what you say is true, you can come to replace us once everything is over."
And if Gilbert didn't come looking for her, the truth would unfold itself, and she would give up all hope.
Gilbert understood that Marigold had already made up her mind, and he was powerless to change it. "Fine. But I must arrange for someone to be by your side."
Marigold frowned. She was obviously unwilling.
"Even if you don't care about your safety, you need to think about Caleb. Esther is definitely going to keep tabs on you. She will not let this go if she has the chance." Gilbert was afraid that once the Bradshaws came crumbling down, Esther would become desperate.
At his words, Marigold finally did not refuse. "Fine."
Afterward, Marigold got down the car and packed all her things from Jenny's villa. Then, she took Caleb and left, heading back to the house she used to live in.
But she couldn't stay there for long. She had to move to another city.
Jenny was dazed watching her leave. She went to Gilbert and asked, "Gilbert, didn't you explain it to her?"
"I did, but she still doesn't want to believe me." Gilbert sighed.
Alec was next to them. He was not surprised to hear that at all. He'd told Gilbert to be upfront, but he hadn't listened. This was what he was getting.
"Well, you'll have to subdue the Bradshaws quickly." Jenny could understand Marigold's disbelief. If it were her, she would do the same.
Gilbert nodded. "I will. But I'll have to ask you to take care of her for now."
Although he would arrange for a bodyguard, the Bradshaws' schemes ran deep. He was still worried that Marigold and his child would run into trouble. "Alright. Don't worry. With me around, no one will dare to hurt a hair on their heads." Jenny was confident about it.
Gilbert believed in her, so he wasn't
too worried. What he had to do now was to destroy the Bradshaws as soon as possible. Otherwise, nothing he said would make Marigold believe him.
The news of Marigold moving out from Jenny's Villa spread quickly. Esther and Lottie both received the news. Although Gilbert had never expressed his feelings for Marigold, they were still hung up on her They wanted to finish her off.
However, they had their differences.
Lottie's plan was to get rid of both Marigold and that child who never should have been born. Esther's plan was to only get rid of Marigold. She wanted to take Caleb to her own home and raise him. Maybe she
would reap the rewards in the future.
Hence, they both sent out their people to deal with the matter, but their plans did not work.
They could not get rid of the men Jenny had sent over, much less Gilbert's bodyguard.
Although they were both angry, they had no choice. They could not dare to offend Jenny. After all, it wasn't just the Walters standing in solidarity behind Jenny.
