To Be Yours Again novel (Alec and Jenny) -
Chapter 426
Chapter 426 I Have My Pride Too!
Alec looked up at Vincent. "Did she go to Bardoff City?"
"Yeah, she left just now," Vincent answered.
Already frustrated, Alec felt even more suffocated upon hearing that. "Who did she go with?" He didn't believe that Jenny had left Parrington alone, for there was no good reason for her to visit Bardoff City. Vincent paused, worrying that Alec couldn't accept the truth.
"Christopher Spade?" Alec could hazard a guess without Vincent's answer. After all, only one man around Jenny hailed from Bardoff City. It couldn't have been anyone else.
Vincent nodded and was filled with worry for Alec. "I believe she has a different reason for visiting Bardoff City. It probably has nothing to do with Christopher Spade."
Alec scoffed. Vincent knew that Alec didn't believe him, but he was helpless because he genuinely had no clue about the reason for Jenny's trip to Bardoff City. "Why don't...you go to Bardoff City and explain to her?" Vincent asked cautiously.
Alec glared at him, annoyed. "Why should I? Do I look like a pushover to you?" Since Jenny thought he was full of lies, he refused to pester her shamelessly. "I have my pride, too!" he thought.
Vincent was at a loss for words. He knew Alec well, but he was afraid to speak truthfully in front of him. In the end, he said, "Okay. I'll head back to work." He decided to leave quickly before he was dragged further into the drama.
Alec was in no mood to pay attention to Vincent. After he left, Alec was alone in the office, facing a heap of work files on his table, which he had no intention of getting to.
"Christopher Spade," he repeated the name silently, face filled with resentment. One could tell that he bore a serious grudge this time.
At the same time, Christopher sneezed on the flight. Jenny opened her eyes and stared at him." Did you catch the flu?"
"No." He shook his head. "Maybe someone is talking about me. You know I'm popular."
She was speechless at his brazenness. "Are we almost there?"
"Yes, soon. The plane is descending," he explained.
Hearing that, she sat up straight and didn't go back to sleep. "I'll check in at the hotel when we arrive. I'll make an official visit to your grandpa tomorrow." She had planned it before the trip. He was caught by surprise. "Aren't you staying at my place?"
She stared at him like he was a fool and thought, "Why would I stay at his place when we have no relationship, to begin with? Oh, the things that people will gossip about us if they catch wind of this!" "You don't have to worry. Grandpa and I will happily welcome you." He was unbothered by the gossip, especially when he intended to marry Jenny from the start.
She leaned against her chair and asked, amused, "I realized that you always mention your grandpa, but you rarely talk about your parents. Do your parents welcome me as much as your grandpa?" She wondered if she was welcomed because her status was nothing compared to the socialites from Bardoff City.
"Parents?" he thought. Then, he frowned at her. "Ignore my parents. I don't need them to poke their noses into my business."
Christopher grew up with his grandpa and barely had any relationship with his parents. He also found them difficult to communicate with and rarely contacted them.
Jenny thought the rich kids were a peculiar bunch-somehow, all of them seemed to have failed relationships with their parents.
