To Be Yours Again novel (Jenny and Alex)
Chapter 840 Haven't Met Someone I Like

James just smiled at that. Of course, he couldn't hand over the Windsors to someone else. Even though he knew he could be free like Jenny if he did that, he couldn't bring himself to do it. "It's normal for you not to worry. After all, you have your own guy in Walter Inc." He deliberately poked fun at Jenny to see her reaction.

Sure enough, as soon as Jenny heard that, she frowned. "James, please don't tease me."

"Okay, okay. I'll stop," James chuckled, but he still reminded her, "Seriously, if you're not interested in Evan, you should make things clear with him as soon as possible so as not to waste his time." They both knew very well that although Walter Inc was powerful and influential, someone like Evan wouldn't enjoy working as a regular employee in a company.

"I know." Of course she knew, and she'd made it clear from the beginning. However, it was useless, as Evan insisted on joining Walter Inc. With her father pulling strings behind the scenes, she couldn't stop him from joining.

"By the way, James, why are you going on blind dates? Are your parents urging you to settle down for real?" Jenny asked, curious.

James nodded somewhat helplessly. "Yes, they're all for me getting married right away."

"What about you? What do you really think? According to what that girl just said, you've already been on many blind dates. Couldn't you replace anyone you like?" Jenny wondered if James was really that picky and had unbelievably high standards.

James was silent for a moment. Then, he smiled and said, "If I say that I still like you, so I don't want to replace anyone else, would you believe it?"

Jenny was shocked by his words. She was so distressed she could cry upon hearing that. "James, please don't joke around, okay?"

They hadn't been in contact for a while, and judging from James' expression now, he shouldn't have the same feelings for her as before.

"I'm just messing around with you," James chuckled. It turned out that he was really just teasing Jenny.

He did have feelings for her before, but after not contacting her for so long and knowing that he had no chance with her, he simply gave up. Now, he regarded Jenny as his junior like he used to, and that made their interactions with each other less awkward and burdensome.

Jenny breathed a sigh of relief. She was glad that it was just a joke. If James were serious about it, she would be a sinner for the rest of her life.

"I just haven't met someone I like," James said. With his gaze drifting into the distance, it was indecipherable what he was really thinking.

Seeing him like that, Jenny felt a sense of unease in her heart. "Then...what about Jolene? How have you been getting along with her lately?"

"Well, she's still doing household chores at my villa. To me, she's just a free servant, so I won't let her go easily. I have to make her pay for her wrongdoing before she can leave," he said with disdain upon the mention of Jolene's name.

But was that the case? Jenny had some doubts.

"I was surprised when I saw you bringing her along at the last banquet."

Usually, for such banquets, one would bring their wife or at least their girlfriend. But James brought Jolene, which naturally made everyone curious. Although Jolene was technically James's fiancée, everyone in Bardoff City was aware of their real situation.

After that day, there were even rumors that Jolene had won over James and they would get married soon. The rumors had reached Jenny's ears, but she didn't believe in any of them.

But today, seeing James' reaction, she started to doubt her assumption. After all, James's state of mind seemed off, no matter how she looked at it.

"I brought her along considering that she was also a Walter and out of consideration for your father. That's why I brought her with me," James said, sounding quite perfunctory.
