She wasn’t far from the courtyard when she caught a familiar scent. One that made her tense instantly.
“What the hell do you think you are doing, Livana?” Augo’s voice stopped her in her tracks. “Is your loyalty for my father so far diminished that you won’t even use my title?” She spoke as she turned around. Augo didn’t back down from her stare this time. He held his ground. “My loyalty to your father has nothing to do with this. You are not my Alpha and in your heart you know you don’t deserve the title.” It felt like a knife laced with wolfsbane was plunged in her chest at his words. “You father had never groomed you to be Alpha, he never wanted you to be his succesor, why would he keep you in the dark if he didn’t feel that way? I always knew the truth, so I never looked at you more than an Alpha’s daughter and a Moonblood. Yes, I loved you and nothing I had ever done was an act towards you, but what you are doing now is proof that your father was right. You are no Alpha and you will never be our queen. You are reckless and you have no idea what is going on.”
“Then tell me.” She knew her eyes had started to glow, but he still didn’t back down. Was he really that much of a fool to not fear her?
Then, she noticed another scent. Mutliple actually. Wolves, they were starting to surround her. This was nothing more than a diversion.
“Rafe isn’t going to let me go.” She linked to her pack.
“Where are you?” Fare immediately linked back, knowing that she was in trouble. A smell of water filled her nose. “Close to the lake. They are surrounding me.”
Augo huffed as he shook his head, pulling her attention back to him. “Why should I? I tried to steer you from this path, to become who your father wanted you to be, a strength he and his brother could use.” She clenched her fists as he kept on talking.
Her father may not have told her about who she really is, but she still knew him. His heart, his character. He had loved her and he had wanted her to be Alpha. Malik and Fare had confirmed that as well.
She never imagined his betrayal to go as deep as this. Deep enough to even betray her and hand her over to Rafe.
“On our way.”
Liv took a deep breath in order to push down the wolf and her powers which were moments away from lashing out towards her former beta. She needed to bide her time.
“Then tell me something else.” Her voice was dangerously steady. Enough so, that Augo understood what he was doing and took a step back from her. Wise wolf.
“Is your love and loyalty for Rafe enough to betray the memory of your former Alpha and friend? To hurt him even beyond his life and spit on his memory with the lies you now tell me?” Augo swallowed before he opened his mouth to speak again.
Her power lashed out to him and took a hold over his blood. Making him groan as he couldn’t move. “Are you really stupid enough to think that I believe anything that is coming out of your mouth?” Fear started to gather in his eyes. “To think that I won’t know that this is a fucking diversion?” She snarled, before multiple howles filled the air as wolf started to run towards her from all sides.
Augo screamed as she forced his blood the other way. She held his blood until a wolf jumped over Augo and snapped his teeth at her. Liv immediately jumped back before she gave the reigns to the wolf and shifted in and instand. Augo slumped to the ground, not being able to get up. Liv immediately attacked the wolf in front of her, before more howls filled the air around her and her pack marched into the throng. The wolf in front of her tried to bite her neck, but she was faster. She jumped to the side and turned fast enough to grab his throat in her muzzle and bite down. The wolf yelped as it tried to get away, but she wouldn’t let it. She bit down harder, before she shook her head and hear the flesh rip before the wolf went lump.
They wanted to keep her a prisoner? Then she will make them pay for ever thinking that she was weak enough to grab.
Dropping the dead wolf to the ground she saw Malik fight two close to her. She took off to help him, when something hard knocked into her side and made her fall. A yelp came from her as she hit the ground, before another followed when she felt teeth dig into her abdomen. She lashed out with her paws and got the wolf into his face, making him break the hold on her. This wasn’t a normal wolf. He was too large and powerful for one. This was an Alpha. Snarling, Liv got up and jumped on his back, burying her teeth into his neck. The Alpha struggled and managed to throw her off. As she landed on the ground he lashed out with his paw and managed to slice open her shoulder. A snarl came from her as she jumped towards him again. He snapped his teeth towards her. Liv jumped to the side before she burried her canines in the side of his neck. The Alpha yelped again, and struggled in her grasp, ripping open her back and shoulder as he tried to jump on her. Her strength was starting to fail, but she held on. There was no way in hel that she was going to become his prisoner again. She was done with being used. This fake alliance was over.
The Alpha managed to bite het front pay, which made her loose the hold she had on his neck, and tossed her away from him.
Liv whined as she rolled to a halt on the ground, her body aching badly.
Her eyes took in the fight around her. Her pack was small, but they didn’t back down from the many wolves. They stood by her till the end.
Malik and Fare were fighting side by side, their grey/white furs covered in blood and wounds. Her eyes snapped to the others who were almost as torn up as she was, but none faltered. They all endured and fought on.
It was then that another smell gathered in her nose, one of birch trees covered in snow.
“Give up, Kerra.” Her eyes snapped to Stef who had shifted back into his human skin as he advanced towards her. “You will not win this fight. Rafe is the true King and you are nothing more than an abomination who should have never been born. You are not our princess, nor will you ever sit on the throne. We will never listen to a half Lycanthrope whore.”
Liv growled at him as he smirked. “He told me not to kill you, but that didn’t mean that I can’t have some fun.” In an instand he shifted again and jumped towards her. Liv rolled out of the way before he could get her, her body getting weaker by the minute. He growled as he moved towards her again, but stopped the moment more howls filled the air. A large black wolf jumped into the fray before more wolves followed. Caden had come to help.
Stef growled again, and attacked her again. Not being able to move fast enough, he slived open her throat with his paw, before he turned her on her back and bit down on her throat. A pained yelp left her, as she struggled to get free. Slicing open his abdomen in the process. Black spots started to cloud her vision as Stef held on, before he was thrown off her by a force that almost made Stef rip her throat out. Black paws caged her in as Caden stood over her in a protective stance. Stef got up from the ground and growled at Caden, before they attacked each other.
Liv slowly pushed herself up. Her white fur covered in blood and her strength failing as her blood streamed out of her body.
Her eyes landed on the lake and four piercing back eyes gazed back at her. Making a shiver run down her spine. Yet the two Margyge did nothing but watch her. Malik had told her they are evil, but if they are, why don’t they do anything? She is basically easy prey in their grasp at the edge of the lake, but they did nothing but stare at her.
A yelp caused her to look at Caden and Stef again as Stef threw Caden into the water.
Yet the Margyge did nothing and only looked at her.
She wondered...
Liv pushed herself up, and gathered all her strength as she jumped on Stef’s back before he could advance to Caden. Stef bucked and snapped his teeth towards her but this time he didn’t get her. He edged closer to the lake. Liv pulled all her weight down and rolled them over, before pushing him further into the lake. The Margyge immediately came to action and raced to Stef. A schrill sound, a wail that went through bone and marrow, came from the creatures. Making every wolf stop and look at the lake. Absolute terror came over Stef’s features as he tried to make for the shore, but the Margyge were too fast. They pulled Stef under the surface. Water splashed where the struggle was being held, before blood started to fill the lake. A lump floated to the surface. It was a dead wolf. Stef was dead. The wolves who fought along side of him howled as they saw the Alpha dead, before they all retreated and ran off. Caden quickly walked out of the water as he looked back at Stef’s body, but her eyes were somewhere else.
The Margyge held her gaze further inside the lake.
“Princess. Help. Queen.” Three words filled her head before the Margyge disappeared underneath the surface.
Not being able to hold onto her wolf anymore she shifted into her human skin and fell to the ground instantly.
“Liv!” Fare yelled as he ran towards her along with the others on their side. “Fuck...” Fare breathed as he saw her shreaded skin, before he leaned down next to her. The pain overtook her senses and she couldn’t do anything but lie on the ground and watch the threacherous waters which inhabitants had somehow helped her.
“We need to get her out of here, more will come.” Caden spoke as he fell on his knees in front of her. “Go, gather at the territory and immediately set up border patrol. No one comes in our out without us knowing and anyone from Rafe’s will be killed on sight.” Caden ordered around the wolves behind her, before sounds of shifting and running steps filled her ears. Everything was starting to sound far away as her gaze became hazier.
“Liv?” She heard Malik calling her, but she couldn’t answer. Her eyes slowly drifted shut.
“She needs Doc.” Fare immediately said. Someone started to pick her up which caused a strangled cry to come out of her mouth as he touched the wounds.
“Hold on, Moonblood, Please, hold on.” Caden’s whisper filled her ears before she had the vague sense of moving before the pain pulled her under.
