Chapter 174 Give Me a Reason

Evan sat in the apartment, where Tyler and Liora remained bound, their mouths covered with tape.

Evan was surprised to receive a call. He controlled his urge to smile and asked in a deep voice, What’s

the matter?”

Caroline pleaded, “Evan, I need your help to save my kids.”

Curious, Evan asked, “What happened to them?”

Caroline recounted the day’s events to Evan “I’ll agree to your terms if you bring my children back

safely,” she implored.

Evan’s expression and voice turned serious. “Give me a reason to help them”

Caroline took a deep breath. “Let me tell you what happened when I had the children five years.

ago.”

“Are you negotiating with me, Caroline?” Evan’s tone grew cold

He knew Tyler resembled him greatly, yet Caroline chose to hide the truth at this point.

Caroline responded. “No, Evan. This isn’t the time for that. Please, just consider my plea.”

“Call me when you’ve decided,” Evan promptly ended the call.

Setting down the phone, he looked directly at the children who were glaring at him

Evan signaled to Reuben, indicating for him to remove the tape from the children’s mouths.

Approaching carefully, Reuben gently removed the tape.

Liora burst into tears as soon as the tape was off her face. “I want Mommy! You’re mean! You know

we’re here, but you won’t tell Mommy!”

Liora was furious and aggrieved. She wanted to run over and beat up Evan but was tied up.

Evan furrowed his eyebrow.

Reuben immediately sealed Liora’s mouth with tape again after noticing the situation

Liora howled under the tape with her eyes widened.

Evan gazed at Tyler. “If you don’t talk properly either, you can stay like this.”

He couldn’t believe he couldn’t manage the two kids. He thought about how Caroline spoiled them until

they turned unforgiving. He wanted to help them out of kindness, yet they accused him of being bad.

Tyler observed Evan without much interest. He’s acting like a scumbag Daddy again! It’s fine if he

doesn’t remove the tape. I’m not in a hurry to leave. I’m safe here. Mommy will worry a bit longer.”

Not getting a response from Tyler, Evan got a bit annoyed.

“Can’t you nod or shake your head?” Evan asked

Tyler just stared

Evan sneered

Reuben seemed frustrated, looking at Evan and his son

Evan wasn’t willing to give in, and neither was his son. ‘How long will they keep this up? he

wondered.

Meanwhile, Evan hung up on Caroline twice when she called

Caroline was about to call again, but Neil stopped her. “Carol, think before you call.”

“I’ve thought about it! I’ll tell him, but I wasn’t composed earlier,” Caroline said.

Neil shook his head. “I don’t think it matters if you tell him the truth.”

Caroline was surprised. “What do you mean?”

Neil smirked and said, “If I were Evan, I’d think Tyler is my son. They look so similar that any

excuse you come up with might not sound believable. You said the kidnapper gave you only half

an hour. Evan won’t have enough time to rescue the children quickly after listening to your

explanation.”
