Chapter 209 Trying to Cause Trouble Again

Neil picked up the sobbing Liora, patted her back patiently, and asked, “Is that true, Carol?”

Caroline lowered her gaze. “Yes”

Neil asked, “What is the reason?”

Caroline pondered for a long time, yet she was clueless. “I don’t know.”

“Caroline, rushing won’t help. If Evan still has feelings for you, he won’t stay distant forever. You can’t

have Axel’s custody since Evan raised him,” Neil said directly. “Also, facing Evan’s influence in

Angelbay, winning the lawsuit is unlikely.”

Caroline clenched her fists tightly, thinking. Is there really no other way?”

Caroline felt heartbroken when she thought about Axel’s sad face and quietness earlier.

All of a sudden, Tyler ran downstairs and took Caroline’s hand “Come with me, Mommy.”

Caroline followed Tyler upstairs in confusion and saw Axel’s face on the laptop screen after

entering the room.

She hastily called out, “My precious!”

Axel’s dim eyes lit up at the sight of Caroline. “Mommy.”

Caroline felt the urge to cry. “Is your daddy giving you a hard time, my precious?”

“No.” Axel shook his head. “Your eyes are red. Mommy.”

Caroline said, “I’m fine. Dust got into my eyes.”

Tyler exposed her. “Mommy misses you and doesn’t want to be away from you

Axel was stunned. Soon after, he smiled faintly. “Hmm, I miss Mommy, too.”

Tears welled up in Caroline’s eyes. She turned her head and let them fall.

Axel said comfortingly, “Don’t be sad, Mommy. We can still keep in touch, and I’ll figure out a way

to see you when Daddy is in a better mood.”

Tyler leaned close to the screen and said, “Leave Mommy to me, Axel. Don’t worry!”

Axel said, “Alright, I shall go offline then. Good night, Mommy, Ty.”

He then ended the video call.

Tyler hugged Caroline to comfort her.

At 9:30 p.m., Caroline put the two children to bed before she headed downstairs to talk to Neil.

Neil brought up the conversation after noticing that Caroline had calmed down. “Carol, I took it upon

myself to give a copy of the voice clip to Wayne, and he went looking for Grandpa.”

Caroline took a sip of juice. She was well aware of her brother’s collection of voice clips.

“If my guess is right, he got the money,” Caroline said.

“Yes. However, Grandpa sent someone to kill him, and I don’t think he can get away.” Neil replied.

Caroline’s hand, gripping the glass, trembled. “Is he trying to stir up trouble once more?”

“I bear half of the responsibility in this case. I figured out the ending but didn’t stop. In fact, I

facilitated it.”

In other words, he got someone else to do his dirty work

“Neil. I know you did it out of kind intention, but don’t do this anymore, okay?” Caroline looked at

him solemnly

“I don’t want you to get your hands dirty like him. Even though Wayne is detestable, there are other

ways to deal with him.”

Neil’s gaze turned gentle. “Carol, I promise I won’t do it again.”

Caroline turned her gaze away, her unease growing. The thought of someone dying due to something

she set in motion unsettled her. She firmly believed in just punishment for wrongdoing, not unchecked

killing. Moreover, the person involved was Lily’s own son.
