Chapter 230 Why Are You Concealing It?

At night, Caroline went to the hospital to see Lily.

Unexpectedly, as Caroline exited the elevator, she encountered Evan Evan conversing with the doctor.

Her instinct was to avoid him, but Evan’s distant gaze was fixed on her.

Consequently, Caroline steeled herself and approached. While passing by Evan, she gave a nod

“Madam, could you please wait?”

Abruptly, the doctor addressed her in broken English.

Caroline halted and turned. “What’s the matter?”

Approaching, the doctor handed her a report. “This is Ms. Smith’s report. Additionally, Mr. Jordan

wishes to discuss the possibility of another brain surgery for her.”

Caroline got the report, but it was in Spanish, a language she didn’t know.

She glanced at Evan. He seemed amused and curious.

Was this intentional?

He might have asked the doctor to give her an unreadable report, thinking she would have to ask

him to explain it to her

Caroline would not let him have his way, so she asked the doctor, “I can’t understand this. Could

you give me a basic idea of the situation and why she needs another brain surgery?”

Evan’s expression quickly changed

Was it so hard to make her talk to him out of her initiative? Wasn’t she afraid that what the doctor

– said might be different from the report?

The doctor said directly, “Logically speaking, Ms Smith shouldn’t be in a coma. There’s nothing

wrong with her CT scan, either.

“So, we want to investigate further and replace the reasons.”

“How big is the risk?” Caroline asked, “Can you guarantee that she’ll wake up?”

“There will be risks. We can’t guarantee she’ll wake up.”

“How about a conservative treatment?‘ Caroline asked.

The doctor sighed. “You know there isn’t any result after such a long time.

“But Ms. Shenton, I’m very curious about one thing. Who did the brain surgery for her?”

Caroline was stupefied.

Scott was the one who did it, but he would never hurt Lily. She had always been kind to him.

When Caroline thought about this, she dismissed the notion. It couldn’t have been Scott’s doing.

In the end. Caroline rejected the doctor’s suggestion. “If the risk is high with a low cure rate, we’d better

not do it.”

She did not want Lily to suffer the harm of a second brain surgery. It would be best if they could use a

conservative treatment.

Evan sneered “Caroline, for whom are you keeping it a secret?”

Caroline stared at him and said icily, ‘You meant for this to happen, didn’t you? You must know who

performed that surgery, considering your influence.

“And when you found out, you deliberately arranged for the doctor to bring up this matter with me

so that I’d doubt him!

“Evan, he doesn’t pose a threat to you in any way. Why must you

point out his flaws?

“He’s not God! It’s unrealistic for all his surgeries to go perfectly

be so petty and have someone.

Evan’s expression darkened slowly. He seemed to radiate a frightening aura. Even the doctor looked

scared and seemed eager to go.

As tension grew between them, Evan let out a scornful laugh filled with sarcasm. “So, you see me as

an utter bastard. It isn’t a big deal even if you think I’m petty, too!”

Following this, he turned his gaze toward the doctor, his tone frosty. “You are to withhold any

information about Ms. Smith from her, starting now. If you do, I’ll ensure you all leave my hospital!

The doctor wiped his sweat and quickly nodded. “Understood, Mr. Jordan.”

Evan walked away, leaving Caroline staring at him. She was about to scold him when the doctor

intervened.
