Chapter 232 Let’s See Who Gets Drunk First

Alex hung up before Paige placed a bottle of wine before him.

She sounded drunk. “Alex, why did you make a call? Are you trying to run away?”

Alex was rendered speechless. He then looked at Paige. “Miss, it never even crossed my mind. I

promised to apologize to you, so I won’t break my word.”

“Of course, it’s not that simple.” Paige clicked her tongue. “Can I apologize to you after I you?”

“Do you think you can do that? You’ll get locked up if you kill someone.”

“Eh? Pixie?”

When Alex asked the question, a young, good–looking man approached them. He seemed to be in

his carly 20s

Paige brushed off Alex’s question, standing up with a spark in her eyes. “Why’re you here? What a

surprise! Join me for a drink!”

Paige warmly invited him to join her drinking party with Alex

Alex’s expression changed

Spotting Alex, Pixie asked loudly, “Who’s he?”

Quickly, Paige replied, “Oh, just an older guy. Pay no mind. He can’t handle his drink and isn’t

much help.”

Alex’s lips twitched. Why did she think he was old and could not drink?

He just did not want to bully her.

Moments ago, she had greeted a guy, and now she was cozying up to another for drinks

Wasn’t he sufficient company?

Somewhat annoyed, Alex picked up a wine bottle from the table and filled his glass. He looked at Paige

and said, “Paige.”

Turning, Paige asked, “What’s up?”

“You want to drink, right?” Alex clinked his glass with hers. “Let’s see who gets tipsy first.”

Caroline returned to Bayview Villa and tucked her children into bed before returning to her room.

It was 9:00 pm, so she called Axel.

At that moment, Axel was sitting on the living room carpet, feeling nervous. He didn’t understand

why Evan had suddenly brought out a puzzle to play with him.

Playing with Evan was fine, but Evan seemed really tense like he had some sort of conflict with

someone. This tension was affecting Axel’s concentration on the puzzle.

Just as Axel was about to fit a puzzle piece, his phone buzzed in his pocket. The living room was

so quiet that the vibration was quite noticeable.

Axel’s heart raced. He knew it wouldn’t be a stranger calling him. Tyler never called–he only

texted. Thus, the caller must be Caroline.

Evan paused at the vibration, realizing it wasn’t his phone. He turned his attention to Axel.

“Who’s calling you this late, Axel?” Evan asked with suspicion.

Nervously, Axel set the puzzle piece down and retrieved his phone.

Upon seeing the caller ID, Evan’s brow furrowed. It displayed Mommy‘.

Axel hesitated to answer, glancing timidly at Evan

Evan’s voice was cold as he commanded, “Answer it on speaker.”

He was curious about what Caroline wanted to say to their son.

Axel answered the call with a mix of anxiety and switched to speaker mode.

“Mommy

“Hmm, yeah. I’m going to bed,” Axel lied with shame.

It was the first time he lied to her.

“I’m sorry that I disturbed you. Did you remember to have some milk?” Caroline asked again.

Axel answered, “I haven’t drunk it yet. Ms. Garcia will get it for me later.”

“Ah, by the way, did your father ask you any questions lately?” Caroline asked with worry.

Axel understood what she meant and was about to interrupt her when he noticed Evan abruptly

lifting his phone before him.

A line of words appeared on the screen: [Ask her what questions she’s talking about.]
