Chapter 295 Don’t Force Me

Caroline’s voice startled Evan, bringing him back to reality. He gazed at her solemnly and asked,

Why is my mother at your house?”

Caroline was stunned. “Your mother?*

Caroline quickly glanced at Jamie as if recalling something. Evan’s eyes resembled Jamie’s when

compared.

A sudden realization hit Caroline–she had been taking care of Evan’s mother all along.

Evan controlled his anger and spoke coldly. “Are you going to give me an explanation, Caroline?”

Evan’s rude attitude infuriated Caroline.

“You’re asking me for an explanation, yet you couldn’t even watch over your mother? Did you issue a

Silver Alert? Have you let me know that you were looking for her?

“I discovered her on the street! She had walked so extensively that her feet were bleeding! If your

can’t care for your own mother, why should I provide an explanation to you?”

Startled by Caroline’s emotional comment, Jamie quickly glanced up. After a moment of thought,

she realized that Evan bore a striking resemblance to her own child

Jamie reassured Caroline, “Don’t be upset, Carol. This is my son.”

Caroline was rendered speechless.

Evan relaxed upon hearing Caroline’s explanation.

Caroline had guessed right. Evan hadn’t shared his mother’s photo or informed anyone of his

search.

But how could Caroline have known unless she had seen the contents of his drawer?

Evan pursed his lips, averted his gaze, and coolly apologized, “Sorry!”

He then turned to Jamie, his tone firm. “Mom, you shouldn’t have gone out alone.”

Jamle looked at Evan disapprovingly, saying, “Even though you’re my son, we aren’t close. I went

out to have some fun.”

Evan realized that his mother’s illness had relapsed. “I can take you out if you want, but come home

with me now, okay?”

“No! I want to be with Carol!” Jamie declined harshly and even hugged Caroline. “Let’s go inside, Carol.

Ignore him! He’s trying to split us up!”

Caroline remained silent and still, puzzled by Jamie’s unusual behavior. She couldn’t fathom what had

triggered Jamie to act that way.

Was it because of the Jordans?

Furthermore, Caroline had never heard Evan mention his mother over the three years they had spent

together. In fact, she had assumed that Evan’s mother had passed away. So, where had

Jamie been all that time?

Evan was overwhelmed with emotions. “Mom, she’s very busy. Don’t add to her burden.”

Jamie glared at Evan. “I’m not adding to her burden! You’re rich. Give your money to Carol so she

won’t be burdened anymore!”

Evan said, “Sure, I’ll give her money, but you have to come with me.”

Jamie snapped. “I already told you I don’t want to go Why can’t you understand?”

“Mom, you’re supposed to come with me, not stay here!” Evan’s voice grew deeper.

“Don’t push me!” Jamie yelled, turned around, and dashed back to the villa.

Evan wanted to follow her, but Caroline blocked his way

“Don’t you think you’re putting Jamie in a difficult position? She is your mother so she is supposed to

go home with you indeed. However, she is on the brink of a relapse now. You should

give her time to adapt,” she said.

Evan narrowed his eyes at the mention of the word ‘relapse‘. “How much do you know about my

mother?”

“I don’t know much. You don’t have to worry about me knowing about Jamie’s condition. You can set

your mind at ease and let her stay here. I’ve commissioned a doctor to take care of her daily.”
