Evan felt wavering for no apparent reason. “You still owe me an explanation on my mother’s

matter!”

Caroline sneered. “Explanation? Sure, I’ll give you one!”

Caroline raised her chin at Evan, grabbed his hand, and placed it on her throat. “Here’s the

explanation! Take it if you want!”

Evan’s solemn eyes narrowed when he felt the moist warmth of Caroline’s body.

“Don’t make me, Caroline!”

“Make you? It’s not that you’ve never done this! If you’re so sure I did it, kill me then! Don’t tell me

you don’t want my life! Rather than being interrogated over and over again, you might as well take

my life so I can die with your mother!” Caroline said shakily.

“You want me to acknowledge I caused your mother’s death, right? I shall tell you now, then! I did.

it on purpose. I killed your mother on purpose to seek revenge on you. I want to see your pain. Will

that be enough?”

She couldn’t bear how he repeatedly mentioned his mother. The stress had overwhelmed her ever

since his mother’s passing. Now, she was mentally drained and wished she could just escape it all.

“Shut up!”

Evan suppressed the urge to choke her to death. He wanted to pull back his hand, yet she held.

him tightly.

Caroline was irrational, perhaps due to the alcohol.

“Kill me, Evan!”

Evan’s eyes were bloodshot with rage. “Shut up!”

Caroline shed tears constantly and shouted at Evan in disappointment. “Since you have no trust in

me, just end me quickly instead of tormenting me like this!”

In the next moment, Evan suddenly tightened his grip and swiftly pulled her by the throat toward

him.

He lowered his head and bit her lips, causing Caroline to feel a sharp pain and taste blood. The

alcohol–induced haze in her head cleared instantly. She instinctively wanted to push Evan away

but could not move him.

Suddenly, Reuben opened the door and exclaimed, “Mr. Jordan…”

Witnessing the fiery scène, Reuben fell silent and quickly shut the door.

Evan loosened his grip upon hearing the commotion. His lips were stained with Caroline’s blood, giving

him a seductive appearance.

He wiped away the blood and coldly remarked, “You don’t deserve to die with my mother.”

With those words, Evan turned and left.

Caroline stumbled and fell into a chair, feeling as if all her energy had been drained from her

body. Tears streamed down her pale face once again.

Meanwhile, Neil parked his car and rushed into Regal Restaurant. He inquired about Caroline’s private

room at the reception and hurried to the elevator.

As the elevator doors opened, Evan stepped out, his hands clenched tightly when he spotted Neil’s

anxious figure.

Reuben glanced at Evan and said, “Sir…”

Evan averted his gaze and walked toward the door. “What did you want to tell me earlier?”

Reuben felt awkward. “Mr. Curry’s hand has already been crippled.”

Evan nodded. As he got into the car, he added, “Arrange a clothing factory for her.”

“Huh?” Reuben was taken aback.

Evan frowned. “Do you understand?”

After a moment of surprise, Reuben realized that Evan was referring to Caroline. He nodded and

said, “Understood, sir.”
