Alex’s attempt to persuade Evan failed. “Alright, do as you wish. If you’re still concerned, observe

for two more days.”

Evan replied, “It won’t make a difference. She doesn’t listen to me anymore.”

Frustrated, Alex advised, “Evan, if you can’t get over her, it’s best to be honest with her.”

He longed to bring Evan and Caroline back together–their ongoing mutual torment had become

exhausting.

Evan slipped into contemplation, ignoring Alex.

On Monday morning, Scott arrived at Caroline’s hospital room bearing breakfast.

Coincidentally, Caroline emerged from the bathroom.

Scott greeted her with a warm smile, “Come, have breakfast. I’ll assist with your discharge later.”

Caroline asked, “Can I really leave? Will the children discover anything?”

Scott handed her a small milk carton with a straw. “No, your injuries are healing rapidly. A few

bandages will suffice.”

Caroline sighed as she accepted the milk. “Would you like to come home with me to see the kids?”

Scott smiled helplessly and asked, “Do you think I’d allow you to drive home alone?”

Caroline blushed. “Well, I could ask my bodyguard-”

Her phone buzzed in her pocket, interrupting her.

It was a text from Axel.

Caroline looked up and said, “Hold on, let me reply first.”

Scott nodded. “Sure, go ahead. I’ll unpack the food.”

Axel: [Mommy, did your business trip go smoothly?]

Caroline was warmed when her child missed her.

Caroline: I can go home tonight. Dear, you miss me, don’t you?]

Axel: [Yeah, Mommy. And my new school is close to your company.]

Stunned, she realized she did not know where he had transferred to.

Caroline: [Which school is it?]

Axel: [Merlin School.]

“Merlin School? Joseph’s school? But there should be no kindergarten,” she thought.

Caroline was bewildered.

Caroline: [Axel, you’re a first grader now?]

Axel: [Yeah, I just got the admission notice. I only told you after I scored full marks in the entrance

exam]

Surprise and joy washed over Caroline.

Axel was only five years old and should be studying at kindergarten, yet he gained such good results

beyond his level.

Of course, Caroline would be thrilled to see her son so exceptional.

Caroline: [Axel, I’m so proud of you! You’re great!]

Axel: [Well, Ty and Lia can do that too. Do you want them to give it a try?]

Axel’s suggestion reminded Caroline that Joseph had once mentioned it to her.

Caroline felt she should also send Tyler and Liora for the test. She could see Axel when she drove. the

children to and from school if they managed to get in

Caroline: [Okay, I’ll bring them to Merlin School this afternoon.]

Axel: [Alright.]

After that, Caroline put her phone down and looked at Scott. “Have you heard of Merlin School,

Scott?”

Scott looked up. “That noble school, isn’t it? I heard the students there are Angelbay’s top

achievers.”

Caroline beamed. “Yeah, Axel is great. He should be the youngest student there.”

Scott was captivated by her smile. It was the first time he had ever seen her so genuinely happy. Her

eyes sparkled brightly.

He smiled back. “Your kids are all exceptional. Let me guess, you’re also thinking about sending Ty and

Lia there?”

Caroline blushed as he caught on. “Am I asking too much of them?”

Scott shook his head and reassured her, “No. If they’re willing, they should attend a quality school.
