Chapter 429 Take the Call Outside

“Call Evan to check if Carol is with him.” Paige said.

Alex nodded, grabbed his phone, and dialed Evan’s number.

Unfortunately, Evan’s phone was also switched off.

Alex handed the phone to Paige. “His phone is off. Any idea what’s going on?”

Paige rolled her eyes at Alex. “You were sleeping like a log. How would you know if something

happened?”

Alex felt a bit hurt. “I slept with you because I saw you were asleep and didn’t want to wake you.”

Paige grunted. ‘Do you think Evan and Carol are together? Their phones are off.”

“Is Caroline missing?” Alex perked up.

Paige nodded with concern. “Her phone is off, too. Do you have Reuben’s number? Maybe he knows

something.”

“Sure, I’ll give it a try.” Alex then called Reuben.

Reuben answered quickly.

“Reuben, is Evan with Caroline?” Alex inquired.

Reuben glanced around awkwardly and at the onlookers. “Well, they’re…”

His face turned bright red. It had been a while since he stood alone by the roadside.

Alex couldn’t resist prying. “What’s going on? And why are their phones off?”

Reuben looked troubled. “Mr. Price, it’s not appropriate for me to explain. You know…”

Alex raised an eyebrow and glanced at Paige,

Paige’s jaw dropped in shock.

Alex and Reuben quickly ended the call.

Paige wondered aloud, “How on earth are Carol and Evan together?”

Alex hugged Paige. “Isn’t it a good thing they’re together? We can get married in the future, just like

them: Double dates can be fun!”

Paige playfully punched Alex’s chest. “Shameless. I still haven’t forgiven you!”

“Okay, okay, you’re the boss. But have you gained weight recently, Paige?”

Paige was about to call Kenny when Alex said that. She glared at him. “Who are you calling fat?”

Alex replied seriously, I’m just being honest. You’ve put on a little weight in your arms and waist.”

“Shut up! I’m starting a diet tomorrow! Paige threw a pillow at Alex.

Alex laughed. “Okay, I was just teasing. Chubby is cute. Call Kenny first.”

“Fine, I’ll let you off the hook this time.” Paige angrily dialed Kenny’s number.

Kenny answered promptly. “Paige, any news about her?”

Paige replied, “I found her. She’s talking with Evan. Don’t worry, and get the kids to bed early.”

“Damn! She’s with Evan, huh? Then why did she turn off her phone?”

Paige shrugged. “I didn’t ask too much. I just wanted to make sure she’s safe. You shouldn’t press her

either.”

“Alright, I’ll get the kids to bed.”

Paige had just hung up when Alex’s phone rang.

The caller ID made him frown. “It’s my mother calling. I’ll take this call outside,”

Paige looked at Alex oddly as he left the bedroom, thinking, Am I that unpresentable that he needs to

avoid me during his calls? Or is there something he doesn’t want me to know?”

Curious, Paige slipped out of bed and approached the door discreetly.

She opened the door slightly and overheard Alex speaking on the phone.

“Mom, please don’t blame me for tarnishing your reputation if you do this again. Just send me the

address, and I’ll meet them tomorrow.”

Paige furrowed her brow. ‘Who is Alex meeting? Is it a man or a woman?”
