When Daniella returned to Xander Residence that night, Grayson asked, “Ella, why didn’t you go to the

company this morning?”

Daniella had crafted an excuse on her way home. “Grandpa, you know my company is in the fashion

industry. I had to visit a fashion factory.”

Her response elicited a grin from him. “Ah, you went to negotiate a deal. Are you tired?”

Pouting and rubbing her neck, Daniella replied, “Yes, I’m exhausted. Grandpa, I’m going to rest

upstairs.”

“Go ahead.”

Once Grayson retreated to his room, Daniella sneaked upstairs and changed into ordinary clothes to

avoid Evan’s men tailing her. She then hailed a taxi and headed to Villa Foresta in the northern

suburbs.

Thirty minutes later, Daniella arrived at Casey’s house and stepped out of the car. She approached the

door, but a stern–looking bodyguard blocked her path.

Confused, Daniella furrowed her brows. I’m here to see Casey. Why are you stopping me?”

The bodyguard replied, “Mr. Jordan is not currently available to meet with outsiders.”

“Outsiders?” Daniella widened her eyes. “Look at me! I’m no outsider!”

The bodyguard remained resolute. “You can tell Mr. Jordan yourself.”

Reluctantly, Daniella decided against causing a scene and called Casey.

After a brief wait, Casey answered.

“Ella?” Casey’s voice sounded gentle. “Why are you calling me at this hour?”

Daniella adopted a flirtatious tone. “Casey, why is your bodyguard blocking me?”

Casey coldly glanced at the wounded and bloodied woman nearby, whom he had abused. “I’m getting

ready. I’ll open the door for you in a bit.”

Although Daniella was doubtful, she kept her words brief. “Alright, I’ll wait for you.”

After ending the call, Casey got up and grabbed the woman by her long hair, dragging her to a guest

room.

The woman woke up in pain and screamed in terror upon seeing Casey. “No… please, stop. I was

wrong.

Casey halted and warned, “I won’t hesitate to silence you if you make a sound.”

She was in pain but instantly fell silent as Casey removed her from the room.

Ten minutes later, Casey descended the stairs in his bathrobe and opened the door for Daniella. Her

face was flushed from the biting cold, and Casey felt sorry for her. He took her hand and led her to the

living room, covering her hands with his.

“Silly, are you cold?” he asked.

Daniella’s eyes welled up. “You took so long, Casey. It is freezing outside at midnight.”

Casey then placed her hands against his warm body and smiled gently. “Feeling warmer now?”

Daniella nodded with contentment. ‘Yes, I’m not cold anymore… Casey, I’m sorry I couldn’t help you

yesterday.‘

Casey caressed her face. “It’s alright. I understand the need for discretion.”

Daniella then nestled into his arms. “I want to stay with you tonight, Casey.”

Casey held her head and spoke coolly. “You need to be cautious, especially since you’ve recently had

contact with Evan.”

His refusal made her sigh. “Alright. I’ll wait and be with you after some time.”

Casey asked, “How’s Axel doing?”

“It appears he can undergo the surgery tomorrow,” Daniella replied.

“Well, that’s quite swift.”

Daniella extricated herself from Casey’s embrace. “You don’t want it to happen so soon?”

Casey shook his head. “There’s no rush for you to do anything. I’m just glad you’re safe.”

Daniella was moved to tears. “Thank you for being so kind to me, Casey.”

With that, she leaned in to kiss his cold lips, igniting a spark in Casey’s mind as he thought of

Caroline’s passionate and aloof demeanor.
