Trouble in Paradise (Arianna and Nicholas) -
Chapter 0418
Chapter 0418
Throughout the following month, I busied myself with work and flew across the world due to the different cases I had been working on.
During my free time, I would think about Nicholas sometimes. I couldn't understand what was the point of dragging things out.
He had been dragging things out the previous time as he was still fighting for another chance, but him dragging things out now was purely a waste of time.
We did not have a future together, and we weren't even on speaking terms right now. Unlike most families who still had certain conflicts of interest, Nicholas and had severed our ties completely.
I would often replace myself waking up in the middle of the night abruptly, and it would always be hard for me to go back to sleep when it happened. So, the lack of rest had begun taking a toll on my body, causing me to lose a lot of weight.
Consequently, the exhaustion began to eat away at the calm detachment I had toward our relationship, filling me with frustration. I could no longer maintain my composure and pretend like I didn't care.
I had called Nicholas multiple times, but despite my calling at midnight or early in the morning, Claudia would always be the one to answer my calls.
She would always say the same thing too-"Nick doesn't want to talk to you".
At first, I didn't care. But after a while, no matter how great of a temper I had, I could not stand it anymore.
Finally, I lost it and directed my frustration at Claudia for the first time. It just so happened to be before a court case, so I was feeling worked up.
""Honestly, don't you want to be with Nicholas?"
Claudia smiled casually as she said shyly, "What do you mean by that? I feel like I've always been with Nicholas and have never been apart from him before."
They have indeed always been together. No matter if I called him at midnight or early morning when I was abroad, no matter what time I called, just like what Claudia said, she was always with him.
I couldn't think of a reason for Nicholas to hand Claudia his phone. It was just an act of petty revenge. Claudia found joy in angering me, and Nicholas was happy to sit back and watch.
I scoffed and said, "If that's the case, then why don't you continue to be his little secret? You'll never bel able to stand by his side as his partner because I don't want a divorce anymore!" "Ariana!" Claudia gritted her teeth. "Did you think you're able to ask for a divorce whenever you want? Who do you think you are?"
"I'm Nicholas' legal wife! Nicholas is as good as dead in my life now, so it doesn't really affect me. That's why getting a divorce or not is no longer important to me." Claudia became anxious. "It's just a divorce agreement. I'll go to Nick's office tomorrow and get it
you!
"Why? Do you want me to get a divorce?"

"Ariana, don't be a bitch and act all high and mighty now!"
"I'm sorry, but I really don't have the time tomorrow," I said as I ended the call.
I threw my phone on the table, while the hand which had held the phone just now was trembling slightly. Though it seemed like I had won that round, I had lost completely. Since when had my marriage with Nicholas become something Claudia could toy with? Just like she said, who was she to dictate my divorce? Who did she think she was?
Did Nicholas Sign the divorce papers
early on and handed them to
Claudia, or was she lying about it al and toying with me? But she sounded so confident. She sounded
so sure that Nicholas would listen to whatever she said.
My phone began to ring and the screen indicated that it was a call from "Hawk". I had changed his contact name on my phone, but I wasn't sure what to change it to back then, so I just made a simple change. The second I answered my phone, I immediately heard Claudia shrieking my name rudely. "Ariana! You-"
"Claudia," I interrupted before she could finish her sentence and gently tapped my fingers on the table. Between the two of us, Claudia was definitely much more impatient than me.
I said, "I haven't divorced Nicholas
yet because you aren't working hard enough. You should call me every day from today onward to try and set an appointment with me. I'go and meet you if I have the time."
There was a knock on my door and someone said, "Ms. Jones, the car is ready for you. You can head over to the courthouse now."
I nodded, but the second I got up, my vision went black. Someone immediately came over to help me, and I smiled embarrassedly. "I'm sorry. I got up too fast."
Once I got in the car, I gave Deena a
call. She had been asking me to go for a full body checkup, but I kept delaying things. Now that my body seemed to have weakened, perhaps a ful body checkup would not necessarily be a bad thing.
