Chapter 0630

As soon as the words fell, the room was enveloped in a deathly silence.

"W-What did you just say?"

Nicholas gripped my shoulders and spun me around. I felt as if my body was about to fall apart.

His voice was hoarse as he let out a painful growl. "Say it again! How could this happen? I drank those tonics too!"

The expression on his face mirrored mine from back then.

When I first learned the truth, I was just as shocked, stunned to the point of disbelief. I even began to question the world itself. Why was everything a lie?

As I watched Nicholas's face shift from shock to confusion, my face turned pale. My breathing grew shallow as if I might disappear at any moment.

Would he believe me? Would he trust the woman who had once filled his childhood with warmth, or would he believe me instead?

"Say something!" After a brief daze, Nicholas seemed to grasp at a lifeline, shaking my shoulders desperately.

I choked on my words, "What do you want me to say?"

"You were unwell! How could you have given birth to Tabitha?"

My lips trembled a few times before pressing together tightly.

He was the one asking me to tell him. Yet, he refused to believe me after I told him.

I looked at him and let out a soft, self-deprecating laugh. Closing my eyes, a single tear slid down my cheek, cooling one side of my face.

"Don't cry." A warm, damp kiss landed on my eyelid. His lips softly lingered, absorbing my tears. "I can't bear to see you cry!"

Nicholas' voice was filled with a sense of resolve.

"No wonder you had such a difficult labor. No wonder you said you were on the brink of death! You endured so much, and you never told me!"

I slowly opened my eyes, the tears fighting to spill over.

"How could you be so foolish? If you're not healthy, why would you have Tabitha? Why risk your life? Why didn't you just abort the child?"

Nicholas' entire body began to tremble violently, his agitation growing uncontrollable.

"Who told you to go through with it? Who told you to give birth to Tabitha? Claudia is now sitting comfortably in prison, and that's already too good for her!

"They're treating her well because of me, and I've turned a blind eye to everything. But I'm going to kill her! I'm going to kill her!"

He hugged me tightly again. But when he pulled away, his determination was clear. He stood up and headed for the door, but his trembling hands couldn't open it.

"Nicholas!"

I rushed after him, holding him around the waist from behind. "Please, calm down. I'm fine now. I'm healthy. Really!'

He shoved me away, his fist slamming into the door. At that moment, I regretted telling him the truth. If he couldn't accept this, how could he ever face the truth of his father's death?

Maybe ignorance was the best thing for him. His emotions couldn't bear any more stimulation.

I wanted to comfort him and soothe his anger, but his emotions were out of control.

A nurse outside heard the commotion and quickly called out, "Mr. Hawk, is there anything I can do to help?" "Schedule a full body examination for my wife now! Hurry up!"

I hurriedly stopped him, shouting, "We don't need that right now! Tell them to leave, I'll talk to him!"

Nicholas clenched his fists. "I said I want the examination done, and I want it now!"

"Nicholas, if you can't control your emotions, I won't tell you anything ever again!"

Nicholas, who had resisted everything just moments ago, collapsed like a wilted plant. He dropped to his knees, hands helplessly pressed to the floor.

"Ariana, please don't take any more risks. What will I do if you die? What will I do? We won't have children, we won't have any more!"

I placed my hand over my chest, exhaling a painful breath. At this moment, it wasn't just tears that were struggling to break free...
