After Alice came out from the ward, she walked past Jensen, ignoring his presence. Jensen on the other hand merely watched on.

Her behavior surprised him. He looked at Alice as she gradually left his sight, then turned to look at Heinz, Grace, and Timothy in the ward blankly for quite sometime.

"Aren't you going to chase after her," Heinz said in a low voice. "Brother, don't tell me you don't even want to chase after her."

Jensen hesitated slightly but did not move.

Grace was beginning to feel anxious. She found that the current situation was much worse than she had imagined.

Grace frowned and said, "What's the matter? Jensen, what's wrong with you?"

Shouldn't Jensen be chasing after her at such moment?

Jensen stood immobile for a long time, immersed in his own world.

Heinz was done caring about him.

Grace also felt deeply worried.

A long time had past and Alice had probably taken the elevator down the building, but Jensen was still unresponsive.

Timothy could help but remind him, "Officer Charm, if you don't chase after Alice now, you won't be able to catch up with her. You two should sit down and talk things through. Don't be so indifferent. Otherwise, your feelings will fade."

Jensen came to his senses and said to them after a moment of confusion, "Alright, I'm leaving then."

He finally went after her, but by the time he got to the elevator, Alice was no longer there.

The door of the elevator was closed. Looking at the numbers on the screen, she had already gone down several floors. So he ran down the emergency exit, hoping to catch up with her.

But by the time he got to the lobby, the elevator had long arrived and Alice was nowhere to be seen.

It seemed that Alice had really left.

Jensen looked at the bustling crowd as he stood in the hall. People passed by him one after the other, but none of them were Alice.

He was beginning to panic.

Jensen walked out of the hall quickly and went straight to the parking lot.

Where could Alice be?

She had been driving to work lately, so she would have driven here on her own. With that thought, Jensen rushed to the underground parking lot, but there was no sign of her car, so he went back up to the ground parking lot. Alas, her car wasn't there either. He had no choice but to call her.

Fortunately, Alice answered the phone. "What's the matter?"

Jensen asked anxiously, "Alice, where are you now?"

"I am on my way back. There are some things I have to deal with. Is there anything important?"

Alice sounded indifferent, there was not a single hint of emotion in her voice at all, yet it felt distant.

Jensen felt bitter and flustered hearing her tone. He took a deep breath and said nervously, "I want to see you. Let's go home."

"Jensen, I am very busy," Alice still said. "I am really very busy now. We can talk when I get back, but I'll probably be late."

"Then when will you be back?" Jensen asked a little stubbornly, "Give me an estimated time. When can you go home?"

"Maybe in two or three hours!" Alice said, "I'll go back earlier if I'm done with things sooner, or later if things get busy. I can't give you the exact timing."

Jensen did not know why but he asked in a deep voice, "What if I ask you to come home now?"

Alice was dumbfounded for a long time before she said, "Jensen, you are not a child anymore. We are both adults now. I've already told you that I will be very busy. Please understand and respect me, okay?" "Alice, I am your husband and we are married, so can you respect me too? Do you know just how much time we've been spending together?" Jensen asked in return.

"It's true that I haven't been able to spend some time with you recently. But I also have my reasons. After all, I've just taken over Sunny Group. There are many things that I need to learn on my own. I hope you can give me some time and let me focus on taking care of Sunny Group's affair. After that, I'll be able to spend more time with you."

"No, you won't. Even after you're done taking care of the company's affairs, the time we spend together will be much less. There will be more plans in the future for Sunny Group, but let me ask you, what about our plans? When are we going to have children?" Jensen's stubbornness was incomparable.

Alice sighed and said, "Jensen, haven't we been trying all this while? I never said I don't want children, I just can't get pregnant."

"You've been under immense pressure ever since you've taken over the company, so it's normal for you not to be able to get pregnant."

"Jensen, I think it's better to let nature take its course. When the child comes, we will do our best to welcome them, and if it doesn't happen, we can calmly accept the truth. This is the only true healthy personality and mentality. Only a child born with an unruffled mind will be smart and healthy," Alice said patiently. "Jensen, aren't you a little worried about gains and losses now?"

Jensen did not want to admit it.

But that was indeed the case.

He stared at the sky above the parking lot, watching the night getting darker, and he felt heavy-hearted.

"Perhaps. I just want to see you now and I want you to stay with me at this moment. Let's go home together."

He presented his demand again.

Alice still refused. "I'm sorry, Jensen. I still have a few documents to deal with. I need to see to it now. Grace's incident today caught me off guard. I had wanted to accompany you, but I'm sorry. The secretary said that if I don't handle them now, it will delay the progress."

"So you still won't come home then?" Jensen sounded even more depressed. "Do you know that you are busier than me now?"

"Jensen, you seem to have forgotten that you would usually leave in the middle of the night when you were busy. I still supported your decisions. Now that I am busy, I think you should do the same for me," Alice said. "Sorry, I am driving. We'll talk things through when I get back."

After that, Alice hung up and did not give Jensen the chance to speak again.

The call ended just like that.

Jensen grew annoyed as he listened to the beeping tone.

A lot of problems had not been solved yet. If Alice continued to deal with them like this, what would happen to their lives?

It took Alice a long time before she was done with work that night. When she drove back from the company to Hart Villa District, she happened to pass by Emerald Apartment.

She halted for a moment. Looking at the sign that said Emerald Apartment, she drove in and looked at the watch. It was already past nine o'clock.

The lights upstairs were on.

She knew that Lawrence was living here, and it was Grace who arranged it.
