True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1114
Lawrence looked old.
He looked so much older than the last time she saw him. He appeared at least ten years older but he didn't look tired or worn out at all.
On the contrary, he looked sturdier than before. He seemed to be in good spirits and seemed to have a good state of mind.
Lawrence approached Grace and Alice. His lips parted and he said, "Grace, I didn't know that today is yours and Heinz's wedding day. Only when I arrived was I told that you all are holding a wedding." It turned out that he didn't know that it was their wedding day. It was all just a coincidence.
Perhaps this was fate.
Grace had gone through a turmoil of emotions over the years. The anger and blame she once had towards Lawrence had gradually decreased. Now, she was able to face him with a calm composure.
It seemed that ever since her mother, Candace, passed away, her attitude had changed.
Since then, whenever she met Lawrence, she was calm and composed.
There was no resentment or anger, only calmness.
Staring at him, she parted her lips and said, "Well, since you are here, do come in for a meal. Everyone is here."
Lawrence was taken aback. He was a little speechless.
A flash of weariness crossed his gaze. Perhaps it was due to the events in the past, but he had finally realized that he was in the wrong and had started feeling sorry towards Grace and Heinz. Furthermore, perhaps it was due to guilt, but he didn't have the guts to face them.
Therefore, when Grace suggested for him to stay and have a meal, he was visibly shocked and awkward.
Not only was he stunned, so was the butler. The butler turned and stared at Grace.
"No, thank you," Lawrence said as he came to his senses. He stared at Grace and shook his head, "I won't be staying for the meal. Today is such a wonderful day, I wouldn't want to ruin it. I am very well aware that Heinz is still mad at me."
As he spoke, a trace of embarrassment flashed across his eyes. Being hated by his own son was
a father's failure and embarrassment.
He was too ashamed.
"Grace, I'll give you my blessings. I hope that both of you can live happily ever after," Lawrence let out a smile and continued, "Please take care of Heinz and Lowell well for me in the future." After that, he turned around and left.
Immediately, Grace called out, "Wait! Please stay and have a meal! Although Heinz didn't invite you to the wedding, I am certain that he has already forgiven you. Let's not hold on to the past. It's just that he can't take the first step to reconcile with you. Therefore, you should take the initiative. Come, stay for a meal. I'm the one inviting you, therefore he will not ask you to leave." Lawrence stood frozen in place. He was touched by her words.
He turned slightly and gazed at her. He looked both grateful and slightly excited as he said, "Grace, do you really mean it? Do you really want me to stay and dine with you all?" She smiled faintly, "Yes."
"I'm not someone who is easy to get along with," he said disappointedly. "I am well aware that I am a hateful person and despised by everyone."
"That's in the past. We won't judge you for who you are. I just want everyone to live harmoniously. At the end of the day, you are still Heinz and Lowell's father, so it's inevitable that we will come in contact." Grace understood that for as long as Lawrence was alive, he would always be a sore spot for Heinz. She felt sad if Heinz would not be able to overcome this grudge.
She wouldn't want him to hold Lawrence as a grudge in his heart forever.
Life was short, thus they should be loving not holding grudges.
At the end of the day, they were still father and son. They would always be at each other's throat regardless of what matter.
Perhaps it was due to them being enemies, therefore they were destined to be together.
Now that she had become Heinz's wife, she was willing to help him in all aspects of life and not let him live with any more remorse or regret.
"Actually, I can isolate myself from you all," Lawrence had an awkward smile on his face, "Today, I had just wanted to come and see you all secretly. Then, I saw you were having a lively party, so I couldn't help but sneak a peek. I didn't know I would be caught sneaking around the compound and get driven away by the butler. I am well aware that Heinz does not welcome me but I couldn't help myself." "Grace and Alice, you guys seem like you are doing fine. I am truly sorry for what I have done back then. I have so many regrets and I feel so remorseful."
"No matter what I say now, it's most likely that I can never make up for my mistakes."
"And I don't want to disappoint you guys again. I truly wish that you guys will have a wonderful married life."
He wanted to leave again.
Alice said, "Why are you being so hypocritical? Grace did not mind it at all. The reason why Heinz minds it so much is most probably he was afraid that she would feel uneasy."
"If Grace does not mind it then Heinz wouldn't too. No matter what, you are still his father and this is a fact."
"Just now Grace has already taken the initiative to approach you and you must not forget that you are the one at fault. The person apologizing should be you."
"Even if you can't bring yourself to apologize publicly, you should still take the initiative to do so. You should accept the consequences following what you did wrong in the past." Lawrence was starting to hesitate.
Grace parted her lips and said, "Initially, today should be a big day for Heinz and I. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We were supposed to invite you but Heinz still had a hard time doing that."
"I am certain that you are well aware that the reason he feels this way is because of his mother's injustice. Since you are his sore spot, you should take the initiative and try to smooth things out with him. Even if it didn't succeed, at least you tried your best. You will feel less guilty then, right?"
The butler was silent. He felt that her words were reasonable. Thus, he didn't interrupt her.
"Why are you hesitating? Back then you have done all those things so boldly and now you are hesitating. Do you not have the courage to attend a wedding?" Alice started mocking him.
Lawrence forced out a wry smile, "It's because I've done too many bad things in the past, hence I dare not get close this time."
"Since all of that is in the past, you have to take responsibility for all your actions. You will reap what you sow eventually, so now, I'm giving you the opportunity of a lifetime. If you are a man, you should be brave and deal with it head on," Alice said frankly.
He gritted his teeth and didn't say anything, but he was still hesitating.
Grace added, "Alice, you can't say that. Master Jones has the right to make his own decisions. He can choose whether he wants to come in or not. This is a golden opportunity. If he misses it I'm not sure when he could have such an opportunity again. I believe he won't make the wrong choice."
She felt that if Lawrence was a smart man, with her and Alice's words, he would be able to make a decision.
