Grace's gaze shifted towards Yvonne. She looked less healthy than a year ago. Her dark eye circles were more profound, and she seemed a bit haggard. However, that was because she was sitting close to her. From afar, Yvonne looked fine.

"Frankly speaking, I don't think Zachary is someone who will give up that easily. If he had never met Maria, then maybe he would let you have custody of the child. However, now that he has taken care of Maria and she would definitely choose him over you, you stand no chance at all with her."

"Just because Zachary looks kind and gentle on the outside, it doesn't mean that he is not a person with determination. When he has made up his mind about something, it's very rare that he will sway from it. He's a domineering person."

"Zachary is indeed a very domineering man." Yvonne said sarcastically and continued softly, "I know him. Perhaps I know him better than you. I have thought about what you said. He is not someone who will give up so easily."

"If that's the case, why did you leave back then?" Grace was puzzled, "Even if you leave, at the very least, you should have told him."

"What kind of relationship do I have with this man?" Yvonne let out a smile, "He is just the father of my daughter. He is a stranger to me. Then what good will it do even if I told him?"

"It seems like you were forced to leave," Grace saw the helplessness in Yvonne's eyes. She felt that she wasn't a heartless person. There must be a very good reason why she would do what she did. Yvonne lowered her eyes, her eyelashes concealing the emotions in her eyes. She then smiled and replied, "I deserved it, right? See, eventually, I have to return to the country, and this time, I have angered Zachary."

"Maybe things are not as bad as you think," Grace could not bear to continue, so she just comforted her, "You should go look for Zachary yourself. Just tell him the truth and I'm sure that he will listen to you." "Of course I'm going to look for him," Yvonne raised her eyes again. When she looked into Grace's eyes, she smirked and said, "I would like to ask you slightly more in detail about him and when the time is right, I will face him myself."

Grace was slightly surprised that Yvonne was straightforward and did not deny it.

"You are saying it like Zachary is your enemy."

"He's not my enemy but I'm his enemy," Yvonne smirked again. "He must hate me very much."

"No, he doesn't," Grace said uncertainly.

"Judging from your tone, I can tell that Zachary must hate me very much. I think he has an urge to kill me."

Grace answered in a low voice, "I believe all men will react the same way. Even I would react similarly too."

"That's why I have to put myself in his shoes. After all, I had blundered. I secretly gave birth to his child and simply pushed the responsibility to him and had him raise her all by himself. He didn't even have a single say in all these things. He's such a domineering man, so he will hate me with all his heart."

Grace fell silent for a long while.

All of a sudden, they fell into an awkward silence. The aroma of the coffee flooded the awkward atmosphere.

Yvonne suddenly raised her eyes and came face to face with Zachary's eyes.

Then, his deep voice sounded, "Fortunately, you are aware that I hate you to death."

Grace was also startled. Zachary had arrived on such short notice.

He was actually there.

Yvonne sat frozen on the chair and she dared not move a single inch.

She didn't know how to react.

After three long minutes, she opened her mouth to refute, "Even if you really want to kill me, you have to suppress it. After all, I am Maria's biological mother. If you kill me, it will be hard to explain to your daughter later."

He narrowed his eyes. His lips lifted and his gaze was cold and livid.

Yvonne's heart thumped hard.

That was terrible. She had provoked him again.

Zachary arrived in front of them.

After thinking for a while, Grace stood up and stammered, "Zachary, why are you here?"

Yvonne looked at Grace in shock. She thought that she was the one who gave him their location.

Grace didn't look at Yvonne at all and just said, "You two have a chat. I'll go back and look after my children. You'd better have a nice chat with Miss Attwood and don't threaten her"

Zachary had no expression on his face as he replied, "I can't threaten her. Her heart is made of

steel."

Yvonne's heart throbbed hard yet again, feeling slightly uncomfortable.

However, she just lowered her head and did not look at him.

Grace then left in a hurry.

He sat down opposite Yvonne. His eyes were cold, and he stared at her for a moment.

She slowly mustered up her courage to look at him.

Sooner or later she had to face him anyway.

"You, how are you going to kill me?" She stared at him and asked directly before he could make a move.

He uttered lividly, "There are many ways to kill you. How do you want to die?"

She was frozen in place.

She couldn't say a word.

Was he really going to kill her?

She looked at him suspiciously. This man's gaze was so cold that it could make any woman feel intimidated. He had porcelain-like skin, cold, high and mighty.

The pair of eyes were deep, straight nose, and lips that were full and pronounced. When he pursed his lips, they seemed more cold and hard.

He was such an interesting man.

His face was livid, and there was no warmth on his face, which was shocking.

She did not dare to make a sound.

But, how could she stay silent?

She hesitated and said in a low voice, "I don't want to die."

"Hmph!" He snorted, and there were traces of coldness in his tone. His eyes, as dark as ink, became still, as if he was mocking Yvonne for overestimating her ability.

She immediately froze again. She leaned against her chair and looked at him. She didn't say anything else.

Zachary glanced at her and said, "Yvonne, shouldn't you explain yourself?"

"Explain what?"

He was exasperated.

Even though he had been very patient, he was still very irritated.

"Explain why I gave birth to a child?" She looked at him and said, "Okay, I can tell you, because I love you."

His eyes squinted slightly.

She looked at him again and said word by word, "Explain why I suddenly left my child and I went to the United States? And the reason I left for one whole year? Fine, because I want you to establish a relationship with your daughter and make you inseparable from our daughter, then I will be of a higher position."

His pupils constricted and he fell silent.

He stared at her and he didn't blink for a long time. It was as if he was deep in his thoughts.
