"So you're still aware of it?" There was a hint of helplessness in the tone from the other end of the phone, "Zachary is actually a very good person. If you explain it to him properly, he should be able to understand."

"It's not the right time yet," Yvonne sighed. "I just checked into a hotel, and I'm going to take a shower. Let's talk about it some other time. I have to get used to this time zone. Well meet some other time." "Yvonne, since you have held on for seven years, you can hold on for a little longer. If you really love him, you have got to try to patch things up with him," Yvonne's friend on the other side of the phone encouraged her.

'TH work hard. I'll be brave," Yvonne was on the verge of breaking down. "However, I'm afraid that my efforts will still end up in vain."

"You've been gone for seven years. Why do you still care if your efforts will go in vain? There's another way. Just get him drunk then take advantage of him. This way, everything will be solved."

"I can't even get close to him so how am I supposed to get him drunk?" Yvonne said helplessly, "He wouldn't give me a chance to speak at all, so how do you suppose I'll get near him?" "When you left without hesitation back then, you were full of confidence and determination. Where did all the courage go?"

"It's gone. I've been torn down all these years. I deserve it. I deserve it."

"Yvonne, don't say that. It doesn't sound like you."

"I know. I will pull myself together. Don't worry. I will try to resolve it with Zachary."

"Yes, you have to cheer up and come back stronger. You can't let anything simply beat you down like this. The Yvonne that I know is far stronger than what you're portraying now."

"Got it."

After hanging up the phone, Yvonne lowered her eyes and gently forced out a smile. It was very self-deprecating. She quickly placed down the phone, tidied up the suitcase and went into the bathroom. Not long after she went into the bathroom, the door of the hotel room swung open.

Zachary boldly entered the room. In his hand was a copy of the room key.

He glanced at the suitcase that was in the middle of the room, and checked that it was indeed Yvonne's.

After confirming that he was not in the wrong room, he sat down on the sofa and looked at the opened suitcase.

Women's shorts and lingerie were strewn carelessly in the suitcase compartment.

He glanced at it for a few moments and shifted his gaze elsewhere.

The sound of running water in the bathroom made him feel bored.

He didn't know how long he needed to wait.

She took a long hot shower. The hot water made her feel more energetic after a long tiring day. She did not wear the hotel bathrobe, but wore the pink bathrobe she had brought. After putting it on, she strode out of the bathroom.

Her wet hair was matted to her face. Her brown eyes were bright, her skin was slightly glowing, and her lips were slightly pinkish.

Due to her staying alone in the hotel room, she did not bother to tie her bathrobe up, nor did she wear anything underneath.

What a scene.

Zachary's eyes widened.

The scene that greeted him was too erotic.

When Yvonne came out of the bath, a cold chill ran down her spine. She seemed to feel that something was amiss. She glanced up and saw Zachary sitting on the opposite side of the sofa, staring at her. "What!"

She almost jumped out of her skin. She cried out in alarm and immediately turned around to tie her bathrobe. She could feel her ears and face burning with embarrassment.

After calming herself down a little, she turned to look at him. Her eyes widened in shock as if she had seen a ghost.

"You, why are you here?"

This was a hotel. She was living in a hotel and he was able to get into her room. How was that possible? This hotel had such weak security.

The man on the couch was still staring at her. He did not utter a single word.

"You, you say something."

She was truly shocked. She was so scared that she nearly fainted.

Looking at his stare, she immediately shut her mouth.

He was staring at her everywhere. Her face, neck, calves, and feet.

It was too embarrassing.

She didn't expect to meet him again, and definitely did not expect to meet him in such a condition.

He was still staring at her indifferently.

Compared to how panicked she was, he seemed very calm. However, he was still staring at her with eyes like an eagle. His pupils were dark and constricted.

Yvonne felt like a prey under his burning gaze. She felt that if she were to move a muscle, he would pounce and devour her.

"How did you get in?" She gathered her courage again and said, "This is a hotel. I will file a complaint against them for letting others enter as they please." "I believe you will," Zachary replied indifferently.

She was stunned.

He stood up and strode over to her in a flash. As he towered above her, his tall body cast a long shadow over hers.

She remained frozen on the spot.

He fixed his deep eyes on the panicked Yvonne, and his eyes were as dark as midnight.

"Why are you here?" She swallowed and asked. She had become even more flustered now that he was so close to her.

"Why are you staying in a hotel?"

"Am I supposed to stay in your house then?"

Her words made Zachary's expression darken all the more.

She knew that she had said something wrong again and wanted to kick herself.

However, he was slightly amused with her attitude and he felt the anger in him subsided slightly.

However, he was still furious.

"I can only stay in the hotel. I no longer have any property in Northern City. The house that I used to live in is being rented out, so I can only stay in a hotel for the time being. When I have time I will go and rent a house."

All of a sudden, he reached out his long slender hand and grabbed her chin.

Her eyes met his.

She felt her heart panicked as they continuously stared at each other.

There was anger in his eyes, "Where have you been for more than a year?"

Yvonne immediately lowered her eyes, trying to hide from his gaze, "I was in the United States."

"Why couldn't my people replace you?"

"How would I know?" She retorted, "I was in the United States. How would I know why you can't replace me?"

She was panicking as she explained in a hurry. The more she explained, the angrier Zachary got.

His grip on her chin tightened.

Her chin was in pain. She could only raise her eyes and stare deep into his eyes.

She felt extremely uneasy. She was scared of him, but there were some things that she didn't have to explain to him.

"I want to hear the truth."

"The truth is, I did so because I want you to know that it's not easy to raise a child."

"Do you think I'll believe that this is the truth?"

"I don't need to explain anything." She remained stubborn, "I've said it. There's nothing I can do if you don't believe me." However, as soon as she finished her words, Zachary grabbed her waist with the other hand and pulled her into his embrace. Both their bodies were locked together.

In his embrace, she could pick up the faint scent of tobacco as well as a hint of mint scent which was his own unique scent. This smell was both familiar and unfamiliar at the same time. Unconsciously, she secretly took a deep breath.

The next second, she stared at him again. What was he trying to do?
