"Daddy!" Maria rushed to him as soon as she saw him.

"Slow down," Zachary instructed in a deep voice, and immediately bent down to pick her up. "Didn't I tell you to move slower? Why can't you change this reckless behavior of yours?"

"I miss you." Maria held Zachary's neck with strong attachment and affection. "I miss you so much, Daddy."

Zachary was startled and looked towards Yvonne's direction subconsciously.

Maria felt guilty and continued to say, "Daddy, I miss Grandma as well. Let's go home. I don't want to stay here."

Her Daddy had asked her to have a good talk with her Mommy, and to say it out directly if she missed her very much. However, she didn't do that.

She did miss her Mommy, but she didn't want to tell her about it.

It was because she was still very angry.

There was still no way to calm herself down, since she was still angry upon thinking about it.

Yvonne's heart was filled with envy, as she observed how affectionate Zachary and Maria were with each other.

She had raised Maria for five years, but all this could not compare with one single year that she spent with Zachary. Yvonne felt sour about it but she quickly suppressed her feelings and gazed at them in a gentle manner.

The wind at night wasn't cold, but it felt gentle.

A warm feeling slowly spread into her heart as she thought to herself. "Wasn't this what she had always wished for?"

Zachary's gaze fell on Yvonne. She was five or six meters away from them and didn't seem like she intended to rush over to the both of them. She simply stared at them from afar with obvious envy in her eyes Even though they were separated by a great distance, Zachary could still feel it easily.

His gaze deepened a little as he looked at his daughter and asked, "Why did you come down so quickly?"

"I want to go home." Maria felt guilty under her father's gaze. So, she leaned into his neck and whispered, "Let's go home now, Daddy."

Zachary wanted to say something, but she clutched his collar tightly.

As a result, Zachary's words were stuck in his throat.

He could only stare at Yvonne.

Yvonne was still standing there with a gloomy look in her eyes.

She was very envious of the fact that he could hug Maria so easily. Now, it was a luxury and a dream for her to be able to hug Maria.

"Okay, I will take you home now." Zachary decided not to force her and said calmly, "Come, let's go home now."

"Sure." Maria nodded her head immediately in a very well-behaved manner.

"Enter the car first." Zachary carried her into the car, closed the door of the car, and then turned to look at Yvonne. Yvonne remained there and stared at him blankly.

With a flash of light in his eyes, Zachary said, "You can go back now. I'm bringing Maria home."

He only gave her a quick glance. Hethen turned around and was about to leave.

"Wait!" Yvonne suddenly spoke.

Zachary was shocked and turned around slowly.

Yvonne walked over quickly and she breathed in a slightly rapid manner. She looked at him with her chest still rising and falling. She then blurted out, "Thank you, Zachary. Thank you for sending her here to see me. Although she still doesn't want to forgive me, I'm really grateful to be able to see her. Thank you so much."

Zachary's pupils were dark and deep, as his face appeared gloomy as well. It was difficult to decipher his emotions. He simply stood there and looked at Yvonne from above, which made her feel like avoiding his gaze.

"You have raised her so much better than I did," Yvonne said, pursing her lips. "You really raised her well. Thank you."

Zachary neither moved nor said anything.

It felt particularly quiet in the air.

Yvonne didn't hear anything from him.

That was right.

This was indeed Zachary.

She smiled and looked at the car with a gentle and sentimental gaze. "Go home now. She must be in a hurry."

Zachary narrowed his eyes and a raging fire started beneath his gorgeous appearance.

She drove them away without fighting for more.

Huh.

He sent Maria here, and all she had done was to thank him. How apathetic of her.

The more Zachary thought of that, the angrier he felt. He immediately turned around to enter the car.

Yvonne noticed that his movements seemed rather major. He also started the car and drove away very quickly. She froze on the spot.

The car engine left a puff of smoke, and soon enough she was the only person downstairs.

Suddenly, she felt that the air had become more chilling.

She tucked her arms around her chest and looked at the car's departure. She laughed at herself as she thought of how she had driven them away due to her urge to cry. However, only cowards cry.

She didn't want them to see her crying.

She quickly turned around, and her eyes were already wet. Her eyes hurt so much that she just burst into tears.

She just couldn't help but to cry.

Back upstairs, she buried herself under her blanket and kept on thinking of how she shouldn't have cried at all.

Yvonne tried to suppress her emotions and stop crying, but the more she tried to do so, the more overwhelming her emotions became. In the end, she cried out loud in her quiet room.

On the way back, the whole car was silent as neither Zachary nor Maria spoke a single word.

They went all the way back to the Lowe family residence on a silent car ride.

When they arrived, Maria got off first.

At the door of the villa, Nerissa had been waiting for them. She instantly approached them and asked in a caring manner, "Why are the both of you back so quickly? Zachary, why did you come back with her?" "Grandma." Maria wrapped her arms around Nerissa's waist and did not say a word. Such a situation made Nerissa's heart ache even more. Looking at her granddaughter made her feel even more upset as well.

She glanced at her son and tried to guess what had happened.

However, Zachary was still the same in front of her. He remained silent and seemed very downcast as well.

This was bad. He had really played up his introverted personality to the max while dealing with that woman. Nerissa thought.

Previously, when she saw the bite mark on him, she thought that her son was no longer going to remain single. However, now that he had brought his daughter back and was remaining ever so quiet, she felt defeated.

It seemed to her that her son was really incapable when it came to dealing with women.

Nerissa sighed as a flash of helplessness crossed her eyes. She said to her granddaughter, "Well, I knew your Daddy wouldn't be able to replace a wife with such a behavior. Only your Mommy would like him and secretly give birth to you. Your Dad is going to remain single forever."

Nerissa's words were full of helplessness and heartache as her son had failed to live up to her expectations.

Her son had always excelled at everything. Why couldn't he excel in this aspect as well?

Zachary didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. Looking at his mother, he shook his head and said, "Mom, I know what I have to do."

"If you really knew what to do, then you wouldn't end up like this!" Nerissa had a lot of pent up frustration and helplessness that she didn't know how to express.

Maria was unhappy at how her grandmother criticized her Daddy. "No, my daddy is the best man in the world. My Mommy isn't a good woman at all."

Maria pouted as she spoke. She wanted to cry as soon as she thought of how her Mommy had abandoned her.

"Don't talk about your Mommy like this. It was certainly very difficult for her to go through ten months of pregnancy and give birth to you." Nerissa had always been kind. So, it was not surprising for her to look at this matter from the perspective of a woman.
