Celeste and Maria were both stunned when they heard the phone ring.

Maria immediately asked, "Is it Gary?"

Celeste picked up the phone quickly and glanced at it. Her gaze, which had been a little excited, dimmed when she saw the caller ID. Then she shook her head and said, "No, it's Liam."

"Liam?" Maria shouted excitedly in a low voice, "You mean Liam's calling?"

Celeste nodded and smiled at her, "Let me answer the phone first."

"You can answer it, go ahead. Don't make my idol wait," Maria did not leave either. She watched Celeste answer the phone with much anticipation. Her eyes were literally shooting stars as she waited for Liam to say something.

"Hello?" Celeste answered the call, "Liam?"

"Celeste, have you arrived at your friend's place?" Liam's caring voice came from the other side of the phone.

Celeste replied immediately, "Yes."

"Everything went well, didn't it?"

"It went well," Celeste answered, "It's just that, about my aunt..."

"Oh, don't worry about Ms. White. I've already called her. She has no problems with this, so you can stay with your friend for the time being," Liam replied.

"Okay," Celeste didn't expect Cindy to agree so easily. If that was the case, she didn't have to worry about telling Cindy about her difficulties.

She became a little more relaxed once her worries were resolved.

As soon as she looked up, she saw Maria looking at her and immediately understood Maria's anticipation.

Celeste gave it some thought before asking, "Liam, do you know Ernest?"

"Ernest?" Liam was stunned for a moment before saying, "Yeah, how did you know that?"

"What a coincidence. Ernest is also my classmate. Maria is Ernest's cousin," After Celeste finished speaking, Maria's expression was ecstatic.

She was looking forward to what Liam had to say.

However, Liam's reaction was rather dull, "Oh, is that so?"

Celeste was stunned when she heard that.

Maria also heard it because Celeste had put Liam on speaker.

They thought that Liam would say something else, only to hear him say "Celeste, it's good that you've reached her place. I still have something to do. Let's contact each other another time."

Celeste didn't expect Liam to hang up like this. She said quickly, "Liam, I am now living with Maria and Ernest. They are cousins. If you have the time, you can come visit us."

Hearing this, Liam paused for a while before laughing, "Celeste, I don't know what your relationship is with him, but I have an obligation to remind you that it's not appropriate for you to invite someone over as a guest."

Celeste was stunned.

Liam said again, "Be a good girl. I'll contact you after I'm done with my work."

Just like that, Liam hung up the phone.

Celeste felt a little embarrassed.

Maria also looked incredulous. She looked at Celeste, and the two of them exchanged helpless and puzzled glances.

"Maria, I wanted to take this opportunity to have you two get to know each other, but you heard what he said."

Celeste didn't finish whatever was on her mind.

However, Maria understood.

She shook her head and pursed her lips. Her voice was soft and tinted with disappointment and frustration as she sighed, "It doesn't matter, Celeste. I know that you did this for my sake. I am also aware of how you'd like Liam and I to get closer. I am very grateful to you for this. We can't do anything about his attitude."

Maria was telling the truth.

She liked Liam. As for Liam's attitude, it was really his freedom to how he wanted to act.

She could not change his mind.

As for Celeste, who was nice to her and considerate for her, their friendship was already very precious.

"Maria," Celeste wanted to say something to comfort Maria, but Maria immediately shook her head and cheered up.

"It's ok, Celeste. I'm fine," She smiled at Celeste, "Come on, let's go downstairs for dinner."

"Alright then."

The two of them went downstairs quickly for dinner.

Ernest was not downstairs.

The butler that welcomed them was a middle-aged woman. It seemed that Heinz and Zachary had taken into account that Maria was a girl, so it was safer to arrange for a woman to take care of their food and accommodation.

"Miss Maria, Miss Celeste, you're both hungry, are you?" The butler smiled and said, "The food is ready, Mr. Ernest has told us to serve you dinner once the two of you are downstairs."

"Let's have dinner. I'm really hungry," Maria rubbed her stomach and looked outside, asking, "Where is Ernest?"

"Mr. Ernest is in the garden. He'll be back soon."

"Ok," Maria nodded and brought Celeste to the dining table.

As soon as they sat down, Ernest entered.

He carried with him a pot of bright red flowers which looked very beautiful.

Celeste immediately realized that it was a pot of cyclamen.

After bringing the flowers in, Ernest placed them on the flower rack of the dining table. It instantly brightened up the dinner table.

Maria saw the flowers and glanced at Ernest. She smiled at him, "Thank you, Ernest for giving such a warm welcome to my best friend."

Ernest raised his eyebrows and looked at them silently. A while later, he said, "I'm going to go wash my hands."

He did not deny nor admit it.

Maria stuck out her tongue at Celeste and giggled, "A pot of cyclamen flowers symbolizes a warm welcome. Look, Celeste, Ernest really welcomes you."

"Thank you," Celeste smiled and maintained some basic courtesy.

Ernest washed his hands quickly and came back, sitting at the table.

The dishes were served one after another. Soon, there were six dishes served and it was all part of Northern City cuisine.

Celeste had been eating hamburgers ever since she arrived, and was tired of eating them. Now that she saw some homemade dishes, her eyes lit up in an instant. She looked at the dishes on the table without blinking.

Maria looked at her and knew that she hadn't been eating well these past few days. This made her feel a little distressed.

"Celeste, let's eat."

Celeste said nothing and glanced at Ernest instead.

Ernest had already noticed Celeste's expression.

He flashed her a quick grin, "Celeste, you are welcome to join us. There is no need to be courteous with us. This is your home too."

"Thank you," Celeste thanked him again.

"You're welcome," Ernest replied, his gaze deep and bottomless, "Come on, let's dig in."

As soon as Celeste picked up her cutlery, the phone rang.

Before she could eat anything, she was interrupted by her phone. Looking at her phone, Celeste's eyes lit up with joy as she said to them, "Sorry, I'll go upstairs to pick up this call first. I'll eat later. You guys car eat first."

As she spoke, she stood up and ran up the stairs with her phone in her hands.

Maria realized that it was Gary who was calling her after seeing her reaction.

She raised her voice and called out, "Don't worry, Celeste. I'll save some food for you. You can take your time."

Before Celeste could answer Maria, she had disappeared upstairs.

Maria smiled and looked at Ernest.

Ernest's gaze was fixed on Maria, and a hint of understanding flashed through his eyes.
