True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1286
It wasn't the first time Celeste had heard her aunt say that. It seemed that her aunt was familiar with Gary's father since she kept bringing it up. However, she didn't take it seriously. It was probably normal for friends.
However, Liam looked at Cindy and saw the sparkle in her eyes. He was slightly surprised and realized faintly that something was different. "Miss White, are you familiar with Mr. Heinz?" Liam asked with a smile.
"We got to know each other more than a decade ago," Cindy did not avoid the topic. "I cooperated with him and became an ambassador for him for some time. Later, some incidents happened and we terminated our contract."
Liam nodded, "I see."
Generally speaking, one reason to terminate a contract would be because the sponsor had found a better option. In some cases, it might also be because of some undignified rumors or something bad that happened.
Liam looked at Cindy and didn't know if it was the former or the latter.
Cindy didn't say much. She just looked at Liam, and her eyes were much sharper. She changed the topic silently, "Liam, hasn't your team gotten back with you yet?"
"No," Liam shook his head, "They sent me some updates at 10 just now."
"Oh," Cindy took a bite of her sandwich. After thinking for a while, she asked, "Can they shift the attention of the press quickly?"
"I'm not sure," Liam sighed, "They are worried that after I come to London, the coverage I have will reduce. From what I've seen, I don't think that they want this piece of news to die so quickly."
"That won't do," Cindy said solemnly, "If you want to seek attention, feel free to do it with whomever you like. Celeste won't do."
Liam nodded. He knew that Celeste was rumored to be Cindy's illegitimate daughter, but he did not know what the truth was. Judging from how Cindy was protecting Celeste and did not want her to be exposed to the outside world, it was quite suspicious. Once Celeste was exposed to the public, it would affect Cindy's reputation.
For an actress, it was already very difficult for her career progression since she was in her 40s. If it wasn't for the fact that Cindy was unmarried and was a hard-worker, she would not have achieved what she had today.
However, if Celeste was exposed as her illegitimate daughter, her career would definitely take a hit.
Therefore, from his point of view, Liam understood why Cindy was in such a hurry to have his team divert public attention from this piece of news.
She did not want Celeste to be discovered.
"I know, it was an accident," Liam was solemn, "I'll tell my team seriously."
"My manager can help," Cindy said, "Ask her to discuss this with your company. There's no need to protest so much against the company's decision."
"Thank you, Miss White," Liam was slightly touched because he knew that Cindy was protecting him.
If an artist had conflicts with the company and asked for too much, it would cause unnecessary trouble. If the conflict wasn't resolved properly, there was a possibility that he would be fired and cancelled. Although he had a pretty decent standing, he was going to be staying in London for three years. Once he failed to secure a proper project and shine, the company along with everyone else would definitely abandon him.
It was the best option for him to let Cindy's manager come forward.
After all, her manager was very powerful who had made many people famous. She had a high position in the entertainment industry, so ordinary people would respect her.
Cindy smiled at him. She cherished his talent a lot. Using a gentle and appreciative tone that Celeste had never seen before, Cindy advised, "Liam, you need to sharpen yourself. The entertainment industry is complicated. You need to be level-headed to advance further. You have come to London to study now. This experience is not for everyone. When you return in the future, it will help you greatly. After all, you can't be an idol for your whole life since there's an age limit. Being an artist with strength and unique personal charms is more important."
Celeste was surprised by her aunt's words.
She had never heard Cindy teach someone like this before. It seemed that her aunt really adored Liam.
Celeste ate her sandwich and looked at the two of them.
Neither of them looked at her.
"I know what you mean. That's why I followed your advice and came here to study," Liam smiled, "Miss White, thank you once again for being my guide. I'll keep your kindness in mind." "Silly child," Cindy chuckled, "That's because of your own efforts. This is the result of your hard work."
Liam laughed embarrassedly. "Miss White, I know and haven't forgotten who I am."
"That's good," Cindy was very pleased and continued to eat her sandwich.
Liam beamed warmly. In the blink of an eye, he met Celeste's gaze. He seemed to have thought of something and said, "Oh right, Miss White, Mr. Heinz's eldest son, Gary Smith, called me when I was upstairs."
"Heinz's eldest son?" Cindy frowned slightly and seemed to be a little surprised, "Why did he call you?"
Celeste tensed up all of a sudden, and her sandwich was stuck in her throat. She couldn't spit it out, so she could only bear with it.
Liam looked at Celeste and said, "He seems to care a lot about the news about Celeste and I. He even recognized Celeste just from the photo."
Cindy couldn't help but frown. She wondered aloud, "What was the purpose of his call? Did he want to announce to the outside world that the person was Celeste?"
"No, that's not it," Liam shook his head and explained, "He told me that Celeste was his classmate. He called me on purpose to warn me not to expose Celeste for it would affect her life greatly."
Cindy's knitted brows relaxed and she let out a sigh of relief, "I thought he recognized Celeste and wanted to leak it out to the paparazzi."
"I don't think so," Liam shook his head, "Gary won't leak such news just for the sake of money."
"That's right. If Heinz's child could be so greedy for money, then it would be embarrassing for Heinz," Cindy said as she shot a glance at Celeste.
Celeste tensed up. She knew that her abnormal reactions looked suspicious.
"What's wrong with you, Celeste?" Liam asked.
Celeste's brain suddenly came back to her senses. She immediately shook her head and continued to chew on the sandwich.
"How much do you know about Gary?" Cindy was displeased when she saw Celeste staring at her without saying a word. Her brows furrowed again as she asked, "He recognized you after calling Liam like that. What do you think?"
Celeste froze and pursed her lips. After a period of silence, she muttered, "Gary won't leak my news to the reporters."
"You know your classmates well," Cindy said with a cold snort.
Celeste didn't argue with her.
Cindy frowned when she saw how downcast she was. She tossed the sandwich onto the plate.
Liam was shocked. It was the first time that he had seen Cindy so angry.
It was the first time she couldn't control her temper and actually threw something in front of him.
Liam looked at them worriedly.
Celeste looked up and noticed Cindy's eyes which were full of anger. She looked calm and said, "Aunt, I know Gary. He won't tell the paparazzi about me. Don't worry."
Despite saying so, Cindy's gaze was still livid. It was as if she was dissatisfied with Celeste.
It was normal since whenever the two were together, Cindy would get angry for no reason as well.
Celeste had long become accustomed to it.
Liam looked worriedly at Cindy and called out, "Miss White."
Without looking at Liam, Cindy said to Celeste coldly, "Your classmate recognized you. Don't you know how to make a phone call to him and get some information from him? Do you need me to teach you?" Celeste didn't say anything. She pursed her lips stubbornly.
"Say something," Cindy couldn't stand it any longer. She lost her patience and snapped, "What's wrong with you? Why are you being like this?"
Celeste only felt pain.
Cindy still sounded haughty and insulting. She had always positioned herself as an elder in front of Celeste, and normally lost patience with every little thing that she did.
"Tell me! Are you mute?"
"I won't call Gary," Celeste finally spoke with a firm tone.
"You're not calling him?" Cindy exclaimed and raised her voice. Suddenly, her eyes brightened as she stared sharply at Celeste, "Weren't you classmates with Gary? Didn't you want to go to the United States with him before? Why did you suddenly come to London? Did you have a fight with him?"
"Aunt, don't ask me anymore," Celeste seemed to have made up her mind to not say a word about Cindy's eyes narrowed. She looked at Liam and demanded, "Liam, give me Gary's number. I'll give him a call."
