True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1639
Cindy was dumbfounded. "It wasn't my fault," she retorted
At that moment, there was a knock on the door.
Cindy froze, and she immediately became nervous.
Sinclair glanced at her and said with a smile, "I guess that must be Monica. She must have seen the news and come to settle the score."
Cindy's face instantly turned pale, and her anger faded away. She looked at him in disbelief.
The knocking continued.
However, Cindy did not open the door.
"Go open the door," he said at last. "This needs to be solved sooner or later. You screwed up really badly. How could you do that with Monica's husband? She's always been your biggest supporter. Cindy, you've disappointed us all."
Cindy remained silent.
The knocking continued for a while before suddenly stopping. The next second, there came the sound of a key in the lock.
Sure enough, the person who came in was Monica. She was Cindy's agent, and she had full authority over Cindy's affairs. Hence, she had a key to Cindy's apartment.
Monica's eyes were glaring daggers when she walked in.
Cindy looked at her in shock and did not say anything.
Sinclair watched as Monica stormed up to Cindy, who was seated on the sofa. She stood in front of Cindy and looked down at her in disbelief.
"Raise your head," Monica said angrily.
Cindy looked up immediately.
Slap!
Cindy was completely caught off guard as she was slapped across the face.
Monica was so angry that she started shaking. "I must have been blind, Cindy! How dare you seduce my husband? They say that you shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you, so how could you be so shameless?"
Cindy said nothing.
Meanwhile, Sinclair leaned back lazily on the sofa.
"Monica, sit down," he said. "That's all in the past. Let's solve the problem at hand first. It's not something that is going to go away easily."
Monica turned around and looked straight at him. Her eyes were still burning with rage.
He continued, "No matter if it's you, the Theclair Group, or her, we're all doomed this time."
"She actually seduced my husband!" Monica turned back to look at Cindy before slapping her a few more times.
Cindy's cheek quickly became red and swollen.
Monica also felt a stinging sensation in her hand. She glared at Cindy. It seemed as if all that slapping had done nothing to alleviate her anger.
It had come as a shock when she found out that the artist and good friend whom she had treated with great care had done something like that to her. She had invited an enemy into her home.
Seething with resentment, she sat down next to Sinclair. The both of them looked at Cindy.
Cindy remained silent. She did not fight back after being hit but kept her head down.
However, that seemed to make Monica even angrier.
"Why aren't you saying anything?" Monica roared at Cindy.
"She knows she's wrong. Calm down, Monica. It's
not a big deal," Sinclair interjected.
"Not a big deal? Sinclair, everyone knows!" Monica bellowed.
"You're mad because everyone knows. If you found out about this in private, you wouldn't be as mad, right?" he asked.
Monica frowned. She let out a snort of derision before saying, "Why wouldn't I be angry? What have I ever done to her to deserve this?"
"You didn't do anything, but she did something to hurt you," Sinclair answered in a firm tone, siding with Monica.
Cindy immediately glared at Sinclair. Her eyes were full of contempt and silent protest against his words.
Sinclair was taken aback at the fierce look Cindy gave him, and he looked at her carefully.
Cindy continued to glare at him.
Finally, he narrowed his eyes and snorted in derision. "What's wrong? Cindy, why are you looking at me like that?"
"Sinclair, there are some things you can't hide unless you've never done it," Cindy replied, her tone indifferent and a little mocking.
Sinclair frowned again. "What do you mean?"
"You heard me," Cindy said coldly.
"Maybe you should say those words to yourself, Cindy," Sinclair sneered.
Cindy looked over at Monica.
Meanwhile, Monica was still feeling indignant.
Cindy finally said, "Monica, I really did you wrong by sleeping with Michael." However, her tone carried a hint of mockery.
"Do you think apologizing can fix everything? You're not even close! You're such a wh*re! You actually seduced my husband! Is there anyone you haven't slept with?" Monica shouted
Cindy remained silent and just looked at Monica calmly.
"Do you f*ck anyone you set eyes on?" Monica roared.
Then, Sinclair said, "She never managed to get Heinz, so she's still hung up on him."
At the mention of Heinz, hatred and regret flashed across Cindy's eyes.
Monica spat out, "Would Heinz want this wh*re? No way! I've seen his wife, and she's much more beautiful than any celebrity. Most importantly, she doesn't need to wear thick makeup every day as she's a natural beauty."
Even after Monica chastised Cindy and complimented Grace, Cindy remained silent.
The person who used to protect her the most now spoke harsh words to her. Monica's hatred for her now could never be eradicated, so Cindy could only smile bitterly.
She recalled how angry Monica was when Heinz had been unfair to her. Monica had even cursed Grace as well. Here they were a few years later, and Monica had changed her tune. That was too much. Sinclair nodded. "You're right. Heinz wouldn't accept someone like her. He's no ordinary person. Everyone in Northern City is afraid of him. Even I don't want someone, what makes you think that Heinz would want that person?"
When Cindy heard Sinclair and Monica mocking her together, she immediately looked up at him.
"What? Did that make you angry?" Sinclair laughed and looked at her. "You can't stand the fact that I don't want you? A bitter pill to swallow, isn't it?"
Cindy pursed her lips and walked towards the wine chiller.
She took out three glasses and a bottle of wine. Then, she poured a glass for Sinclair and Monica. She picked up her own glass and took a sip of wine before saying, "It's up to you whether you're going to drink or not."
Monica was furious. She was itching for a drink.
She picked up the wine and drank it all.
Sinclair was mad too, and he followed suit.
Amusement flashed in Cindy's eyes, but she lowered her head to keep it from being seen.
She watched Monica finish her wine before pouring her another glass.
Sinclair had also finished his wine, so Cindy refilled his glass as well. She picked up her own glass and said, "Sinclair, Monica, only the three of us know what's truly going on. As I said, one can't hide things unless one has never done them. I know that you two think there are some things I don't know."
Taken aback, both Sinclair and Monica frowned. Guilt flashed in their eyes, and they felt ashamed to look at Cindy.
It was as if Cindy had suddenly gained the upper hand in the conversation, and they seemed to have become insignificant in her eyes.
Cindy chuckled. "It's been more than twenty years. We've been close for a long time, and it's my fault that we're here at each other's throats. Monica, I was with Sinclair back then, but you were also sleeping with him at the same time. Did you think that I had no idea?"
Sinclair and Monica's expressions shifted to looks of shock.
Cindy actually knew about it. They thought to themselves.
When they were younger, Sinclair and Cindy were engaged. Monica came from a respectable family, and she became friends with Cindy. However, attracted by the charming Sinclair, she had betrayed Cindy. Cindy smiled mockingly. "Monica, did you think I really didn't know about your affair with Sinclair? I always knew, but I didn't say a word. To be honest, I'm quite a resilient woman, no? I really admire you, Monica. You betrayed my trust, and yet you tried your best to support me and my career. I'm touched, honestly. You've protected my career to the best of your abilities, and you've been amazing thus far." Monica's looked embarrassed, and the color had drained from her face.
"The funny thing is, you had an affair with Sinclair, then parted ways when you realized that you weren't meant for each other. Bravo, you two! How many women has Sinclair Stone ruined?" Cindy burst into laughter. "I'm one of them, and another one is dead!"
