True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1645
Noon arrived in the blink of an eye.
Zachary had been waiting for news from Sinclair, but it was reported that Suanne had taken over Theclair Group.
Currently, Theclair Group was in a mess.
Hence, the termination of Liam's contract was temporarily delayed.
Nonetheless, Maria had to leave.
Everything that happened over the past few days were hard to digest all at once.
Gary also received the news that Cindy had already left the country with her manager's husband.
That night, they left the country along with Maria.
Of course, Liam was there to send them off.
Meanwhile, in London.
Three days had passed.
During that time, Ernest had also arrived in London.
They were all gathered in London.
Ernest only found out about what happened when he saw the news while on his way to England. Once he touched down, he rushed home immediately. There, he met Gary, Celeste, and Maria. Ernest immediately asked, "What's with the news recently? Did you all keep this from me?"
"If we told you, wouldn't that have gotten in the way of your love life?" Gary teased. "Anyway, we didn't explicitly agree not to tell you. It just happened."
"So will Liam be able to terminate his contract?" Ernest asked.
"Of course. Definitely," Maria replied.
Ernest nodded. "That's good then. I'll put my stuff away and take a shower. We'll talk more later."
"Don't go yet." Maria gave Ernest a sly smile. "Ernest, is Leah your girlfriend?"
Ernest paused for a moment, then nodded. "Yes, it's her."
"Congratulations!" Maria said, beaming.
Ernest could not help but smile as well. His smile was warm, gentle, and filled with confidence.
"Thank you," he replied.
The three of them laughed as they watched Ernest go upstairs.
Gary said, "Wow, it's rare for him to be so open. I wonder who taught him all this."
"Really? You can do all this without a teacher, you know?" Maria replied.
Gary glanced at Maria. "Stop being so crude. You're a girl, you know? Liam will be disgusted if he replaces out."
"He would never," Maria answered, shaking her head. "Whatever. See you later guys. I'm going upstairs to video call Liam."
"Sure. I'll take a walk with Celeste." Gary held Celeste's hand as they walked outside.
The days passed quickly.
Gary and Celeste continued their internship at the company.
Maria continued with her studies.
They spent their days in relative peace.
Meanwhile, back home.
Theclair Group had fallen into disarray because of the scandals, but Suanne's presence had stabilized the situation somewhat. However, the damage done to the company's reputation was irreversible. Eventually, Suanne found out that Liam wanted to terminate his contract. It surprised her. "Why is Liam doing so? Where's his manager? Tell him to come and see me. I want to know what's going on." When Johnny arrived at her office, she asked him bluntly, "What's going on? Why is Liam trying to terminate his contract?"
Johnny answered, "He's unhappy that he's out of work. He hasn't booked a job since he graduated, and he probably has been blacklisted. That's why he's doing this." Suanne narrowed her eyes. "Blacklisted? No wonder I haven't seen him in any ads or projects. I thought he disappeared. How could you blacklist such a popular artist?"
"Madam Suanne, this is what Mr. Stone did at Miss White's behest," Johnny replied softly.
Suanne looked at him and sneered. "Really? If so, you just let it happen? You're Liam's manager, so why didn't you fight for him? Did you agree with what they did, or were you directly involved?" Johnny panicked, feeling guilty. "Madam Suanne, I had no idea about this at all."
"Johnny, I don't think you understand what kind of person I am. I hate people who shirk their responsibilities. As Liam's manager, you're telling me that you had no idea about what was going on? Do you think you're fit for this job? Do you think I'll believe your explanation?" Suanne's tone was very unpleasant.
Johnny suddenly understood that Suanne was a very harsh person, and she would not mince her words with anyone.
His forehead dripped with cold sweat. He felt like he had been written off by Suanne.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do, right? Johnny thought to himself, deciding to admit his mistake. "You're right, Madam Suanne. I shouldn't have neglected my responsibilities. As Liam's manager, I should've tried to fight for him. I screwed up."
"Don't come to me with these fake words. At the rate the company's going, I only need people who are serious about their work to stay. If every one of you is so careless with your work, then you might as well just stay home."
"Yes, Madam Suanne. You're right." Johnny hurriedly nodded.
Suanne looked at him for a moment before saying, "So, Lowe Group is the one helping Liam terminate the contract?"
"Yes. Liam has found very powerful backing with the Lowe family as well as the Jones family," he replied.
Suanne deliberated on his words briefly, then nodded. "Call Liam and ask him to come to the
office. I want to see him."
"Yes, I'll call him right away." Johnny immediately took out his phone and called Liam, and the call was quickly connected.
Liam's tone was indifferent as he asked, "What's the matter?"
"Liam, come to the office. Madam Suanne wants to see you," said Johnny.
"Haven't I already told you? If you need anything, you can talk to my lawyer," Liam replied.
"Liam, this time it's Madam Suanne who wants to meet you, so please do as I say. I think she wants to keep you with us. Since you're still going to be in the same industry, it's better to maintain a good relationship with her, right? I'm really thinking about what's best for you this time, so please listen to me." Johnny's tone was quite sincere this time around.
Liam hesitated for a moment before he said, "Fine. I'll go since you asked."
"Okay, I'll be waiting for you." Johnny immediately cheered up.
After hanging up, Liam changed his clothes and went downstairs to his car.
He ran into Teresa on the way there.
She looked exhausted. When she saw Liam, she smiled weakly and said, "I saw the news of you terminating your contract. Did it work?"
"It's a work in progress," Liam replied without pausing, and he went straight to his car.
Teresa looked at his retreating figure. It was some time before she went upstairs.
Liam drove to Theclair Group. When he arrived, Johnny was actually waiting for him downstairs. That was the first time Liam had received that kind of treatment at the company after studying abroad. "Ah, you're here." Johnny smiled as he greeted Liam. "Come with me. Madam Suanne is upstairs waiting. Liam, she's taking this very seriously. She yelled at me after replaceing out what you've been through. She said I neglected my responsibilities, and I accept that. I treated you unfairly, and I'm sorry. No hard feelings?"
Liam smiled faintly at Johnny's words, feeling surprised. Suanne had managed to scare Johnny into submission soon after taking over the company. It seemed like she was not to be trifled with.
On the other hand, Johnny was acting like a typical coward. The only reason he was apologizing was fear, not because he felt that he was wrong.
However, Liam refused to argue with him, nor did he say anything. Instead, he maintained a meaningful smile on his face.
Johnny took him to Suanne's office. She smiled when she spotted Liam. "Sit down, Liam."
"Sure, Madam Suanne." Liam promptly sat down.
Suanne glanced at Johnny and said, "Johnny, you can leave. Close the door behind you."
Johnny's expression froze, then he immediately nodded. "Okay."
He left the room, but he felt anxious because he did not know what Liam and Suanne were going to talk about.
Alas, he could not show how he felt.
After closing the door, Suanne said to Liam, "Liam, you've suffered a lot in the hands of Theclair Group these past few years, haven't you?"
"I'm fine, Madam Suanne." Liam did not expect Suanne to say that. She was obviously trying the gentler approach, and it alarmed Liam.
"You don't have to tell me for me to know. I looked into what happened, and you've gone through a lot of trouble recently. Are you really determined to terminate the contract?" Liam nodded and said, "Yes, Madam Suanne, I want to terminate the contract."
