True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1650
"That's true, but I'm still embarrassed." Maria smiled and blushed. "By the way, I haven't congratulated you on your success in terminating your contract." Liam looked at her with burning passion in his eyes. "It's all thanks to you. You're the brightest star in my life. I'm so fortunate to have you, Maria."
His words sent her heart racing.
"Don't mention it," she replied, shaking her head.
Liam lowered his voice and asked, "Shall we celebrate?"
"How?" Maria tilted her head and thought for a moment. "How about I give you a present?"
Liam shook his head and said, "The best gift I could have is you."
Without giving her a chance to stop him, he lowered his head and kissed her on the lips.
They fell back onto the bed.
There was no need to explain what happened next.
In an upstairs room.
When Ernest finished reading his book, he could not shake the feeling that it was a cold and lonely night.
He did not have anything to do. When he thought of how everyone else was already in a relationship, he could not help but start missing Leah.
He picked up his phone and sent Leah a message. "Let's video call when you wake up."
He did not expect to receive a video call immediately after he sent the message.
He was a little surprised as he did not think that Leah would still be awake.
When he answered it, he immediately saw Leah's face, and his heart filled to the brim with love.
She was propped up on her elbows with the ceiling behind her, and she was wrapped up in a quilt. She smiled and said, "Hey Ernest. Did you miss me?"
He laughed at her frankness and replied, "Of course. I miss you."
He had missed her a lot.
Whenever he thought of how he had left just like that, he felt distressed. Being so far away from her and unable to take care of her, he could not stop himself from worrying about her. "I miss you too," she said.
"Have you been eating well?" he asked in a concerned tone, looking at her carefully. "Why has your face gotten thinner?"
"Of course I haven't been eating well," Leah replied candidly.
Ernest was a little shocked. "Why not?"
She blinked and said with a smile, "Because I miss you. I miss you that I can't sleep well or eat well."
She said it in a nonchalant way, but he was still really moved when he heard what she said.
He gazed deeply into her eyes. "I miss you a lot too, but you still need to eat well."
"What do you miss about me?" she asked with a smile.
She returned his gaze, looking somewhat flirtatiously at him. Even though they were merely talking to each other on the phone, he could feel a sense of pressure from her. However, he was honest about his feelings and answered at once, "I miss everything about you."
"Well, the same can be said for the both of us." Leah laughed. "I miss you too. Every time I try to study, I'll think of you and those nights we spent together. Every time that happens, I sigh with longing."
His jaw dropped. How can Leah be so bold as to say something like that? Ernest wondered.
Her words aroused him instantly.
However, Leah was still staring at him with her sharp eyes.
"Are you feeling it?" she asked.
He was embarrassed.
He took a deep breath and nodded slightly.
Leah laughed smugly. "I'm honored."
"You silly girl, don't say that." He coughed and cleared his throat, then added, "It's uncomfortable."
"Is it because my words are enough to make you feel it?" Leah continued. She was deliberately teasing him, and she found it very interesting.
He nodded seriously. "Leah, let's not talk about this. Be good."
"But I really want to say it. I really, really miss you." Leah blinked innocently at him while giving him a teasing smile.
Ernest looked at Leah deeply. At the beginning of their relationship, he had restrained himself. He understood how long-distance relationships worked, so he was very rational. However, once she had completely belonged to him, he could no longer restrain himself.
Clearing his throat, he said seriously, "You should take this time to focus on your law studies. There must've been lots of things that you missed out on when you took that week off. I don't think you've memorized it all, so you need to work harder."
"You really know everything, you know that? It's true that I'm being tortured to death by my studies. I even thought about changing majors. I regret choosing this path." Leah pulled at her hair in frustration. It seemed that she was really going through a tough time. "I must've been looking for trouble when I chose to study something that required me to memorize so many things."
"You don't normally back down after encountering a setback. That's not like you." Ernest looked at Leah seriously and said with a smile, "If you're done complaining, then continue studying. You should eat and rest well too. Stop losing weight."
"Okay, I know what to do. I just feel exhausted thinking about all those law provisions I have to memorize." Leah sighed. She looked at Ernest and continued, "Besides, I miss you a lot too. Now I finally understand why those couples are so glued to each other. It's because it's more relaxed when you're able to be with each other. It also makes it much easier to memorize." "You need to memorize it even if you're tired," he said.
"I know. I will. I'll remember every single law and engrave it in my mind so that I don't have to look it up when I need to use it in the future. Then, I'll get my law license and become a qualified lawyer or judge. Is that okay?" At that, she let out another long sigh, seemingly defeated at the thought of studying.
He found her reaction amusing. "Study hard. If you do well, you'll get a reward," he said, wanting to encourage her.
"What kind of reward?" she asked.
"What kind of reward do you want?"
"All I want is you!" Leah exclaimed. "I'm not interested in anything other than you."
He almost choked when he heard that and hurriedly cleared his throat.
"You're just shy," Leah said gleefully, unable to hide her excitement. "Don't worry. In order to get my reward, I'll memorize everything."
She made it seem like he was her motivation.
"Once you've finished memorizing everything, I'll test you over a video call," he replied. "If you manage to memorize all of it perfectly, I'll appear in front of you." "Then, if I finish memorizing all of it tomorrow, will you appear in front of me?" Leah asked.
"Yes. If you finish memorizing what you need to for this semester, I'll fly back even if it isn't winter break. I'll go back and give myself to you for a week, and you can do whatever you want with me," he declared.
