True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1755
Leah was simply a strange girl. The moment she spoke, the two men were at a disadvantage. Ernest frowned and his lips twitched.
Liam was a little surprised too. He wasn't expecting Leah to say such a thing.
He suddenly choked a little.
Liam covered his mouth and coughed a few times.
Maria immediately patted Liam's back to help him.
Ernest looked at Leah and frowned. He had mixed emotions.
He had long known about Leah's strengths. But he was speechless now that she was doing it in front of Liam and Maria.
She didn't think there was anything wrong with what she had said. Instead, she looked at Ernest calmly.
It was obvious that they had done it. What else was there to say?
Ernest felt extremely helpless. He smiled and said dotingly, "Leah, you startled them. Liam and Maria are shocked." "It's alright," Leah was calm. "They will get used to it."
The corners of Liam's mouth twitched. He had already been shocked once. He felt much better. At least he didn't choke again.
Maria looked at Leah and sighed. "Leah, how could you say such things? If our elders were here, you would be dead by now."
Leah nodded, "I wouldn't have said anything if they were here. I will only say these things in front of you. I would never say these things in front of them."
"Not bad. At least you know your limits," Maria nodded and looked at Ernest. "Ernest, you'd better control yourself. It looks like Leah is protesting."
"Is that so?" It was Ernest's turn to be calm. "Protesting? Even if she protests, she still has to put up with it."
He meant to say that he wasn't going to be polite. He was going to continue executing his rights as her boyfriend.
Of course, he needed to fulfill his obligations too.
Ernest calmly looked at his girlfriend while he spoke.
Leah was shocked.
She felt strange. It was as if Ernest had changed.
He was getting more and more domineering. He was scheming and sharp.
He used to be very gentle and educated. Now, there was a lingering sense of darkness about him.
Leah took a deep breath. She lowered her head and ate and pretended not to hear what Ernest said.
Maria looked at Leah sympathetically.
She giggled and said with a sigh, "Oh, it's true. Healthy love can change people. Ernest has changed too. He's so bossy now. Leah, you have done a great job." "Thank you for your compliment. You too. You made the popular star, Mr. Robinson, yours. You're better than me."
Maria stuck out her tongue. She was embarrassed to look at Liam.
Liam said in a natural way, "Okay, let's not flatter each other and talk about more serious things."
They were almost done with dinner, and Liam was the first to bring it up.
"Like what?" Leah also became serious.
"Leah, you studied law. Do you think Cindy,
Sinclair, and Monica will be imprisoned? If so, how long will they be sentenced?"
Leah had some understanding of the situation.
Maria had mentioned it before. It was all over the news too, so she had a rough idea of it.
She said a little seriously, "If this was just a financial problem, the possibility of them being imprisoned is very low. However, now that they are being suspected of tax evasion and illegal transfer of property abroad, the problem just got worse. Also, I heard that Sinclair has many lovers."
"The paparazzi in the country found all of his lovers. Countless girls were harmed by him. Now, every woman who has had something to do with him is trying their best to protect themselves."
"In conclusion, the female artists of Theclair Group are all in big trouble, and the husbands of those female artists might join hands to cover up Sinclair's crimes while trying to replace more evidence."
"If I had to guess, I think he will be in prison for at least seven years."
Ernest and Liam looked at each other.
They hadn't expected Leah to pay so much attention to the news.
"What about Cindy? Monica too." asked Maria.
"Them?" Leah smiled and said, "Cindy's fate will surely be worse than Sinclair's. I heard that her exlover was a director's wife, who happened to be a very powerful female judge. That female judge had many classmates, friends, and students who all worked in the industry."
"If she really was guilty, no one would let it go."
"Someone will surely think of ways to make sure Cindy never has a good ending ever again."
"As for Monica, I heard that she has helped out and made some contributions. Even Suanne, the new president of Theclair Group, spoke on her behalf."
"They are a family. Monica and Suanne's husband, Sinclair, has had a long rivalry. But now, she is actually speaking on behalf of Monica. I don't know what will happen to Monica."
"However, I have a feeling that it will not be as serious as Sinclair and Cindy's crimes."
"You watched so much of the news?" Ernest didn't expect Leah to have read this type of news.
"You see, our professor said that we should try to simulate a trial and analyze this matter from all angles. In fact, I'm not too interested in them, but they have a relationship with the The Jones family. That's why I became a little more interested." Leah smiled.
Maria said, "You care so much about The Jones family. Are you determined to marry Ernest?"
Leah glanced at her and asked with a smile, "How about you? Are you interested in marrying Liam?"
Maria pouted. "You really know howto retort."
"Of course. I'm a lawyer." admitted Leah.
"But you haven't answered my question yet." Maria wasn't going to let go of this opportunity. She looked at Leah and Ernest enthusiastically.
Ernest looked at Leah. He smiled and said in a low voice, "I think it is time to answer this question. Let's stop beating around the bush."
Liam nodded in agreement. "I want to hear Maria's answer too. This is a really good question. Thanks for pointing it out, Leah."
Leah and Maria both blushed.
The two of them looked at each other and realized that they had gotten themselves into trouble.
They looked at each other. Their eyes were filled with complaints.
Leah looked at Ernest. Naturally, she wasn't going to admit defeat. "I will tell him that when he proposes to me. As for now, I will stay silent about it."
Ernest frowned. He knew that she wasn't going to give a straightforward answer.
Maria hurriedly nodded, but she admitted it at once. "Yes, I want to marry Liam. The whole world knows that if I don't marry Liam, I won't marry anyone else." She was too brave.
Liam burst into laughter after hearing Maria's declaration. Light flashed across his eyes.
He gazed intently at the girl he liked. Tenderness flowed from his eyes. Not long after, there was only warmth in his eyes.
He stood up and told Leah and Ernest, "Sorry, excuse us for the time being. Make yourselves at home."
After that, he took Maria's hand and went straight upstairs.
Seeing the two walk past him, both Ernest and Leah were a little bit surprised.
This was too fast. They had come and gone with just a few words. Were they touched by just one sentence?
Leah gawked at their disappearing figures at the stairway. When she turned to look at Ernest, his eyes were deep. Ernest was looking at her deeply. His eyes were like black holes in the universe. It seemed like it could suck people in. Leah took a deep breath and laughed. "Are you full? I'm still hungry. I'd like some meat."
Ernest knew that she was just trying to change the topic. She didn't want to face him.
She didn't answer his question.
Of course, he didn't mind.
Besides, he had made up his mind. He wanted this woman.
Only Leah could be his wife.
Ernest smiled and said, "Go on and eat. You will only have strength after you eat. Otherwise, you will stay hungry. Even though I asked the butler to prepare supper, there is no telling whether you will still have energy then. You should eat more meat so that you won't be so hungry after our exercise later."
