True Fated Marriage (Grace and Heinz) -
Chapter 1814
"What? Did you say that you want to detain me?" Keira said the same thing habitually, "Do you know who I am?"
The police took out a camera to photograph Keira before saying, "Madam, no matter who you are, you're violating the regulations and harassing the girl who was hurt by your son. Thus, we have to deal with it. Besides, Miss Rowane also applied for our protection."
Staggered, Keira looked at the police officers who were photographing her and growled, "Why are you taking pictures of me? Shut it down instantly. Don't take pictures of me."
"I'm sorry, it's necessary for us to record it." The police officers weren't angry. They were just looking at her and their tones were calm, without any trace of hurry.
Keira stomped her foot in wrath. "Okay, I'll go."
Finally, she was gone.
The police said to Rowane, Leah and Ernest, "I suggest that Miss Rowane move to another place."
Ernest nodded. "Our thoughts exactly."
The police left.
Ernest and Leah fixed their eyes on Rowane.
Rowane looked back at them in embarrassment. Rubbing her hands, she said to them, "Have a seat. I'm really sorry, Leah. I... I don't know what to say."
Perceiving her awkwardness, Leah replied, "Have your breakfast first. You don't have to say anything, just eat first. Then, let's contact a property agent to get you a new living place, and a moving company to help you pack up your things and move."
"No, I can look for a property agent by myself." Gazing at Leah and Ernest, Rowane spoke bashfully, "I have already troubled you both enough. I can do it by myself. You both are also very busy. Don't worry about me."
She might've been really embarrassed to make Leah spend time on her issues. She also knew that Leah and Ernest were in their honeymoon period, so she was very courteous.
Leah couldn't bear to see her like that.
She said to Rowane, "You are not in good health now. If you were in good health, I would leave you alone. Now that you aren't, I should help you."
Hearing that, Rowane was stunned, an there was a hint of surprise and remorse flashing across her eyes.
She got even more contrite as she looked at Leah.
Rowane lowered her head and said in a low voice, "Leah, I really don't know how to repay your kindness. I used to be so immature, and I did a lot of things that hurt you. I'm so sorry and regretful." "Let bygones be bygones. Don't bring it up anymore." Leah said open-heartedly, "There's no need to keep these things in your mind all the time. We are sisters, you don't have to be like a stranger. Have your breakfast first."
"Okay." Rowane nodded sheepishly while opening the bag of food bought by Leah.
Meawhile, Ernest said, "I'm going out to make a call and arrange for someone to look for a living place. You guys can have a chat."
He was very considerate as he knew that Leah and Rowane needed more time and space alone then.
Leah nodded at him.
Then, Ernest went downstairs with his phone to make a call.
Leah and Rowane were left in the room. Rowane awkwardly twitched her lips and said to Leah, "Leah, do you want to join me?"
Leah shook her head. "I've had mine."
Rowane nodded and lowered her head to chomp on a pancake and drink the coffee. However, as she was having her breakfast, tears started to stream from her eyes.
The tears pattered on the pancake.
Seeing that, Leah silently handed her a tissue paper. She looked at her and said, "You haven't even completed your confinement period yet. Don't cry. Just focus on getting healthy again."
"I'm not crying." Shaking her head, Rowane looked at Leah shyly and took over the tissue paper to wipe away her tears. "I'm just touched. I used to treat you badly, but you're still willing to accept me as your sister and forget all that I've done."
Leah smiled. "Actually, you're quite cute now. After all, we're the only ones left in our family. There's no need for us to estrange ourselves from each other."
"Yeah, you're so kind, Leah." With some tears still on her face, Rowane grinned at Leah.
Leah also beamed at her while handing over another tissue paper.
Rowane did not take it.
Afterward, Leah wiped off the tears from her face herself. She looked at her and said, "Don't cry. It's not good for your eyes. It's still not too late to make a fresh new start." "Yes." Rowane nodded.
Leah watched as Rowane had her breakfast.
It was probably the most heartwaring moment for the sisters.
Leah was aware that Rowane's mother did not care much about her. In fact, Rowane was rather pitiful.
That stepmother had been relying on Rowane's father and enjoying her own life without paying much attention to Rowane.
Leah let out a sigh at the thought of what had happened to them.
Soon, Rowane had finished. Following that, she cleaned up the trash before she began packing her luggage. While doing so, she said to Leah, "Leah, tell Ernest that he doesn't need to help me look for a place. I can do it myself. If you are worried, I will tell you the location after I've found it. Anyway, I'm capable of doing it myself, and I want to stand on my own two feet in the future."
Hearing how thoughtful and sensible Rowane was, Leah really felt that some setbacks were essential for Rowane to grow up.
Rowane had grown up, hadn't she? Leah pondered so.
There were pros and cons.
Glancing at Rowane, Leah smiled and comforted her by saying, "You don't have to feel embarrassed. Ernest will naturally try his best to help you. If he replaces a suitable place, you have to pay the rent yourself. It you're running out of money, I will pay it for you. You can repay me later. Even if you don't, it's fine by me."
"I... I will pay the rent," Rowane answered at once. "I can work. Actually, I've been doing part-time jobs. It's just that my mom..."
Speaking of that, Rowane paused with an abashed look on her face. "My mom is very annoying. She isn't thrifty. In spite of being penniless, she has been spending on high- cost food and entertainment. The money we earned have all been spent by her. She can't even take out the money for father's medical expenses, and you had to pay for it. On top of that, I've treated you like that before. I'm so sorry."
"Why did you mention the things from the past again? Didn't I say that we should just let bygones be bygones?" Leah looked at her tenderly. "I know what your mother is like. In the future, you should save some money for yourself, or else you will be at your wit's end every time there's trouble."
"Yes, you are right." Rowane seemed to have made up her mind. "I will save money for myself in the future. Dad is not in good health whereas Mom is unreliable, so we can only rely on ourselves. Leah, I will work hard hereafter and take care of dad together with you. I won't do anything to hurt you again."
Leah nodded. "I have faith in you."
With that, she helped Rowane to pack her luggage, and Ernest called her and told her that he had found a place.
Leah was very amazed. "Have you found it so quickly?"
Ernest replied, "You can always count on my dad's people. It's in the teachers' apartment of your sister's university, the newly built one. It's also a single- apartment. The property management is trustworthy, and visitors can't simply enter at will."
"You have even considered this." Leah was very surprised. "How much is the rent?"
"Market price. It's not very expensive for a 40 square meters place. I've already asked them to pay for the first year," said Ernest.
"I'll repay you," Leah replied unhesitatingly.
Startled, he thought of Leah's pride and said, "If you want to repay me, I don't think it's necessary. If your sister wants to repay me, I think I'll accept it."
Hearing that, Leah burst into laughter. "All right, she will repay you, and she will borrow it from me if she doesn't have sufficient money."
"Fine, just give me what you can." Ernest smiled and said, "I'll send you the rental details."
"Okay, I'll transfer it to you in a jiffy."
After hanging up, he sent the screenshots to her. Leah showed them to Rowane and transferred the money to Ernest.
Rowane was in a hurry to pay Leah back.
Seeing that she could afford it, Leah received it without hesitation.
Subsequently, Leah said, "The moving company will definitely come soon. Since Ernest has found a place, he should have looked for the moving company without delay as well."
"So fast?" Rowane was a little surprised.
"Yes, being efficient is a practice in his family." Leah laughed. "Come on, I'll help you pack up."
They started packing up. As a matter of fact, Rowane didn't have a lot of belongings. It wasn't until they had packed up that they realized that it was not a moving company, but some bodyguards found by Ernest. It only took a few rounds for them to move all of Rowane's belongings over.
After that, they sent Rowane to her new residence and checked out the place on their own. They felt that it was a quiet and was indeed a peaceful haven.
It was safe and of good quality. On top of that, the neighbors were all quite good, including the single university professors and staffs. As such, her safety was guaranteed, and there was no need to worry about being disturbed by anybody.
As Rowane had settled down, Leah and Ernest left together.
On the way back, Leah solemnly thanked him. "Thank you for what you've done today."
"Don't mention it." Ernest looked at her with a smile.
Leah nodded. "Actually, I'm not just being polite, but I'm truly grateful. I thought you would arrange for her to stay in the apartment I live in."
