However, Leah's bullheadedness made everyone worry about her.

Yet, Leah was as fearless as an Amazon warrior, holding her head high as she looked at Zayne.

Zayne smiled coldly, "Are you trying to lecture me?"

"No way, I wouldn't dare do that. I'm just giving you a gentle reminder to appreciate the people before you so you won't regret it when they're gone. This is the Jones family home, and Aunt Smith is our host. You and I are both guests, and I have to seek Aunt Smith's permission before I invite anyone over. Hence, I don't think you have the right to scold me like this."

Zayne sneered, "Who cares what your intentions are? I don't believe that you're not doing this on purpose."

"Well, it was on purpose," Leah admitted coolly, "Essie likes you, and I admire her boldness. So, I'm willing to help her. Plus, I'm not afraid of you, Mr. Yarbrough. You can do whatever you like to me. Since I've already offended you, what's a few more insults tossed into the mix?"

Leah was rather relaxed about the whole affair.

Both Grace and Alice were a little embarrassed.

It seemed that Leah was really willing to risk everything to help Zayne get married.

Not bad.

"Mr. Yarbrough, you're the most dramatic man I've ever met. If you don't like Essie, just marry another woman and let her move on. However, you insist on making your presence known in her life." Zayne frowned and snorted mockingly.

However, Leah ignored his sour attitude. She smiled and continued, "Aren't you just playing hard to get?"

Zayne's brow furrowed. He had never tried to play hard to get.

"Well, I think Leah is right. Zayne, we are all the Jones family's guests. Hence, we should be more polite with our words instead of threatening people willy- nilly," Alice chuckled at Zayne and added oil to the fire, "From the looks of it, you really are playing hard to get."

It seemed like Essie did have something going on with Zayne.

Zayne's staunch grip on bachelorhood was about to end. How exciting!

Alice felt like the trip to the Jones family home was quite worth it. It was very rare to see Zayne so out of control.

Likewise, Grace couldn't help but admire Leah's boldness.

It seemed that Zayne's love life had been a cause for concern for everyone, and even Leah was worried about him. Grace was really impressed by Leah.

Leah hadn't even married into the Jones family yet, but she considered their affairs her own. Hence, it was clear that Leah had a heart of gold.

Perhaps this was why Ernest loved Leah so much.

Zayne swept his gaze over everyone present before leveling a glare at Leah. He did that for a while before he immediately stood up and left. Everyone was stunned. They did not expect Zayne to leave.

Leah was caught off guard. If Zayne left, Essie's trip would be in vain.

She suddenly regretted bringing up this matter so early. She should've waited until Essie had arrived at the Jones family home.

Meanwhile, Grace stood up and called out to Zayne, "Zayne, where are you going?"

She'd stood up too quickly, and as a result, swayed unsteadily on her feet. Everyone was immediately alarmed.

"Be careful, mom!" Ernest shouted as he quickly stepped forward and helped Grace steady herself.

"Please be careful, auntie," Leah stood up to support her as well.

"Grace, be careful! You have twins in your belly!" Alice couldn't help but add.

Zayne, who had walked to the door, quickly turned around and saw Leah and Ernest supporting Grace on both sides.

His face paled and he walked back to Grace quickly.

Grace grabbed his arm quickly and looked into Zayne's eyes. She advised him, "Don't run away."

She did not need to say anything more than that.

Zayne pursed his lips and asked Grace, "Grace, are you all right?"

Everyone could see that Zayne cared deeply for Grace, and he was deathly afraid of anything happening to her.

"I'm fine, always have been. You're the one who's not fine," Grace clutched Zayne's arm tightly, unwilling to let him leave.

"Listen to me and grow a spine, Zayne. I want to see what this girl is like, and if she's really a good person, you have no reason to avoid her. If you don't like her, then just tell her the truth."

Zayne had no choice but to acquiesce to Grace's words in front of everyone and nodded solemnly.

Grace smiled, "That's more like it. You should've faced this bravely long ago instead of avoiding her."

"Grace, please sit down. You can't get too excited while you're pregnant," Zayne made Grace sit back down before he did the same.

Just then, the butler arrived and informed them of the arrival of a girl named Essie. She had come to see Ernest and Leah. Speak of the devil.

Leah and Ernest immediately exchanged glances and grinned. Grace was amazing to be able to get Zayne to bend to her will. Zayne went stiff upon hearing that Essie had arrived. On the other hand, Grace replied, "Have her come in, don't keep her waiting."

"Yes, ma'am. I'm going to invite her in now, but Miss Lawell has brought gifts with her. Should I bring the gifts in as well?"

"Ah, she even brought some gifts with her?" Grace was a little surprised. Essie was really an interesting girl. She nodded and agreed, "Okay."

Not long after, the butler came in with a young and beautiful girl.

The girl was pretty and lively. Her hair was tied up in a messy bun, and her neck was long and slender. She had fair skin, and she looked very adorable.

She had a pair of expressive eyes as well. Essie's gaze was immediately focused on Zayne when she walked in. However, she only flashed him a bright yet polite smile before averting her eyes to look at Ernest and Leah. "Hey, Ernest! And hi Leah!"

Ernest was a little weirded out by the way Essie addressed him so casually.

She was probably the only other girl who was as bold as Leah to speak her mind very freely.

Ernest smiled faintly and nodded.

Meanwhile, Leah had already walked over.

She held Essie's hand and laughed, "That was really quick."
